I told a couple of patients that it was my birthday. One of them gave me a birthday card from the generic stack they have on the unit. It was a religious card, but he crossed out the bible verse on the inside and wrote “Fuck” underneath it. It is currently hanging up on my wall and is hands down the best card I’ve ever gotten.

Oh The Irony...

I have severe anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. I have been to the ER multiple times and hospitalized twice for my episodes and self harm. Guess where I work... A psychiatric hospital xD. I’ve worked here for three years as a Mental Health Specialist and I’m supposed to help patients but I can barely even help myself. Most of the time I have to physically stop patients from hurting themselves, yet not too long ago, I was doing the same thing when I went home. Sometimes I feel like I’m living a double life. We’re supposed to model positive, therapeutic behavior. Well, that’s hard to do when I constantly feel like my life is in shambles. Every day I hope that things well get better, and maybe one day they will. Anyways, that’s the end of my rant, thank you for listening.
