Hope you enjoyed the performance. The artist was NOT present.
The timing is great.
Artist's Statement "The Loop"
When I think motion and people I think dance. The raw energy and emotion that goes into dance makes an interesting subject when broken down into small loops. It can be both powerful and humorous. The nature of the GIF allows us to dissect the dance and capture a moment of emotion albeit sometimes a misleading one.
Us & Them
Given a context these three words can be used to unite or divide. Every one of us can think of many groups that can qualify as "us" and plenty of others that would fulfill the "them". When used politically it is almost unanimously done so to divide. The real power comes when people realize that beneath the surface there is no difference between the us and the them. My work focuses on "us" as the ones currently occupying the earth "and" the enormous amount of trash we accumulate on our way to becoming one of "them" the ones that came before. These are inevitable shared pieces of the human condition and link us all. In the end there is only us...no them.

Response to “The Function of the Studio(when the studio is a laptop)” One thing that went unmentioned but I feel is an important facet of a portable studio is the ability to be able to dive into your work whenever inspiration strikes. This allows the artist to grab inspiration as it is happening no matter where they may be. Indeed this portability allows for more spontaneous works and allows the artist to be able to keep close account of the spread of their influence. Whenever a new form of technology comes along in any type of art their will be critics espousing that now anyone can create masterpieces simply by applied use of the new tech. While initially the world is flooded with new amateur works, some will rise to the top. Those that succeed do so not as a result of the new technology but rather that artist at the helm of said technology. No matter what new tools come along, true art has to come from within the artist. -Sean Peck
