because ive noticed a problem thats been developing since like early 2020. i do this every year or two; i'll make up different a group of random characters at a time that i heavily fixate on instead of my furry ocs, like an excuse to just Not draw my little animals and furries.

i had the little bug robots that i'm slowly repurposing in 2020 and 2021, after that i played with kirby ocs for a bit, and while i had to sit with my wacky animals for a few months in 2022 i made the best of it! and then i then got invested in bug ocs halfway through the year until i character-bloated all of my interest out of it. and then i shifted to pokemon and fakemon in 2023, and then leaned super heavily into my fakemon in 2024. the server that inspired 95% of them is kinda dormant so they've all stagnated with it.

so in 2025 that door stopped revolving for a while! i had no "excuse characters" to draw instead of those little animals! on the bright side i got to take a decent amount of commissions that april, but after that point ive just felt so disappointed in the way i draw furries now. they keep turning out bland. boring. wrong. stale. i feel like i lost my artstyle for them to the point where i don't know if i can draw them anymore!! doesn't exactly help that the door's resumed revolving with new self-indulgent excuse characters.

ive been drawing animals since i was a kid. they were my biggest inspiration growing up (webkinz, pokemon, hamtaro, those edgy animation meme channels from ~15 years ago, etc etc) it would be a large dishonor to just throw my hands in the air and just go "ok i guess ive drawn my last furry! i'm never gonna draw animals again time to sell them all off!" which is honestly tempting but at the same time what if i Remember too late? i had a sort of art peak in 2022-2023, what if i reach that level of care again but have no recognizable characters to my name to draw with?

i don't know what to do with my furries anymore. i feel like i hardly know how to draw them now but i can't let them go either
