“Hi, baby.”

I rushed my 10 year old cat to the vet because she couldn’t breathe.  They told me her chest was filled with fluid and that they would have to drain it.  They didn’t think she would make it through the procedure.  They brought her in for me to say goodbye.  I was choking on tears and this is all I could say as I pet her.

She made it through the procedure, but after thousands of dollars in testing, we still didn’t have a diagnosis.  She spent 4 nights in the hospital until I had to put her down to end the suffering.  This was still my only goodbye to her.  I didn’t get to see her for those 4 days at all even though I was there.
