Roberto Draghetti, Stoick the Vast Italian VA, has ascended to Valhalla.
He voiced so many characters in so many movies and had a very indistinguishable voice.
We will miss him and honor his VA career.
To our Chief of Berk! May he rest in peace.

how are they both so perfect
Headcanon about those searches for the dragons’ nest...
After Valka was carried off by dragons, Stoick hunted their nest with renewed purpose: retribution. He knew they wouldn’t stop coming. The beasts were like a plague; and he wouldn’t risk losing his son too—even if it meant risking Hiccup might grow up without a father. They were Vikings after all, and some sacrifices were worth it for the greater good. Surely, his boy would grow to understand…
To leave his infant son in someone else’s arms for the first time just about killed him, though. But he was the Chief, and Berk’s warriors looked to him. He swallowed his heartache, pretending he did not feel the profound sting of Hiccup’s tiny hand uncurling from his finger, for perhaps the last time.
But the gods favored him. They lost two ships, and he lost friends–but he returned. Time after time, Stoick survived. Though, he did not feel triumphant, noting the grieving widows and children, until he saw Hiccup again. His son’s squeal of delight and ecstatic little legs were all the great chief needed to feel his cause was just. He’d give up everything to protect Hiccup, entrusting his well being to Spitelout’s wife.
He missed Hiccup’s first steps, first words—but his tiny son saved all his enthusiasm for each and every time Stoick returned.
Then he was three, and trying to board the ships with the warriors. Being pried from his father resulted in tantrums—but Hiccup still lit up to see his father walk through that door.
Then he was seven, and no longer quite as upset when Stoick announced another expedition for the dragons’ nest. Admittedly, the first time Hiccup responded with acceptance was a bit disconcerting. At least he still gave hugs upon his father’s leaving and safe return.
But at ten, he was just so strong-willed. Always getting into mischief and hard to redirect, Stoick entrusted him to Gobber, who had elected to stay behind on Berk more in more at his age. The forge seemed a suitable distraction for Hiccup, especially as Stoick’s fears mounted that his son would never be the warrior he had once envisioned. But at the very least, Hiccup would learn a skill and be accounted for. That was reassuring enough—until Hiccup asked for the first time, “You’re leaving soon, right?” All Stoick recieved upon his return was, “Glad you’re safe, dad.” The hugs had stopped coming so freely.
At fifteen, Hiccup quietly acknowledged when Stoick would leave. He often wasn’t around when the Chief returned.
At 20, Chief Hiccup sometimes sat at the table, staring at the front door, waiting for his father to walk through it again, knowing that he never would.
