Steve nodded a small smile touching his lips as she easily looped her arms with his. He liked Helen. She was comfortable around him and she treated him like a friend. She wasn’t in awe or scared of him. Not that he minded the admiration of others he just never felt like he deserved it.
After a short walk and a long line, they had secured a booth.
“I’ve been doing some research,” he said feeling like he was back in grade school. His idea of ‘research’ was probably light-reading-before-bed for her. “And I have a theory why the serum worked for me and no one else.”
Steve Rogers was what she would consider a gentle giant. A soldier, yes, but a good man at heart. That’s what made him so easy to talk to. That’s even what made him so easy to lead around right in that moment. Kindness made most pliable and he was no exception.
So she sad across from him with her mocha cappucinno between both hands with a little nod. “What’s your theory?” She had a few herself, but it had more to do with Erksine than it did him. The serum was like any other medical treatment and Dr. Erksine approached it as such. He measured out the appropriate dosage for someone like Steve Rogers and used it effectively.
Everyone else just used the same amount as the good German doctor had used and expected it to work the same, but didn’t realize the tempestuous nature of trial medicine. It was more of just an experiment to them. But that was just her theory. It could be something entirely different.
Helen leaned forward with that little smile on her lips, curious.
