He’s leaned back in his chair, tablet in hand and his feet propped up on the desk in front of him, when Steve walks in. The genius perks up some, far more interested in whatever the blond needs than his own work. “Sure, Cap,” he puts down the tablet with a grin, sitting up straight, “You know I always love giving my opinion on things. Nice to get asked for it once in a while.”
Steve’s confident stride was slowed by the smug look on Tony’s face. He planted his hands on his hips and looked back behind him, the way he’d come to make sure there wasn’t an audience. Tony always seemed to ‘peacock’ more when there was an audience.
When he returned his gaze to Tony, he took a moment to observe him. Smug had been the correct term but it also limited Tony Stark. Tony was much more complex than one simple word. He was charming and charismatic as well as insufferable and egotistical.
In fact, he made all those attributes attractive.
Steve stole another moment of quiet contemplation before, “You’re not busy? I’m not interrupting anything?”
