WRAITH - The first episode. THE A STORY involves Victor coming home after his father’s mysterious death. He plans to only stay a few nights to take care of the arrangements but constant stags seem to pop-up. While staying in his home he begins hearing noises, seeing things out of the corner of his eye. - Strange visitors show up mixed in with the odd town folk and friend of his father’s.
THE B STORY centers around Paige, a strange young woman who seems to have taken an interest in the death of Big Al Lynch. While the A STORY plays out much more like a haunted house tale this plot is much more in line with that of a noir story with Paige investigating and gathering evidence about what happen to Big Al.
Most KEY ELEMENTS of the OVERALL STORY are revealed in the B Story. Elements involving the Magic world are revealed to us through Paige’s investigation. - We first see this when we first meet Paige breaking into the Bait shop. She sets up a Talking Board, trying to contact Big Al but gets no answer. We also see she is being watched by a mysterious stranger (Dario Bertino) - This occurs after our TEASER and after we meet Victor at his job as an exterminator. He revives a call from the Lone Port police department, the town’s police Chief and a former friend of Victor (JONAS HART aka JONESY) though Victor misses the call.
After the scene in the bait shop with Paige we cut back to Victor where we meet his overbearing girlfriend MIA it is clear from the first time we meet her that she is kind of a bitch., After she goes off to the bathroom Victor gets a chance to check his phone finally seeing the voice mails from Jonesy. When Mia returns he informs her that his father has died and he has to return home to Lone Port.
Back in Lone Port Paige breaks into the MORGUE looking. She begins to draw a symbol on the corpse of Big Al, preparing some sort of ritual. She is caught however by the coroner. Blowing a powder in his face, putting him under her control. She instructs him to go out front and keep an eye on things.
Victor drives over the single bridge into Lone Port. Heading straight for the Police Station. The place is empty. Creepy, Victor thinks he sees something. A creature can be seen on the ceiling. Victor bumps into the OFFICER ON DUTY.
Back at the morgue Dario arrives, the zombie coroner tries to stop him but Dario knocks him out cold with the wave of a hand. - His arrival is inter cut with scenes of Paige’s ritual building tension that she will be caught. But when he gets into the back Paige is gone. The evidence of her attempted ritual left.
After being told the Chief will contact him in the morning Victor returns to his father’s house. The home he grew up in. He goes into his old bedroom smiling as it has been untouched. He goes into his mother’s craft room, sad as he sees it untouched. He gets a call from an annoyed Mia who has been calling hm all night. While they’re on the phone Victor hears something upstairs. Something from his mother’s craft room. Faint music, singing, his mother working. He hangs up on Mia (Maybe the call gets dropped?) He enters the room, no one there, a shadow rushes down the hall behind him. He notices a small secret door before he can enter he hears a noise from downstairs. Someone? Something? In the house. He picks up an old curtain rod for defense and exits the room... Going downstairs he sees the front door wide open.
At the BONEYARD a local bar built over a MASS GRAVE Paige enters. Not many people inside. This allows the bartender, a WITCH CASANDRA time to talk with Paige. She asks Casandra if she’s heard any whispers from the shadows, anything about kill spells, summons, any activities that could be related to Big Al’s death. But she hasn’t heard a word. She didn’t even know there might be something magical involved. The lights in the bar flicker, the music skips. Suddenly the three other patrons all turn to face Paige and Casandra, their eyes glassy, they speak in unison, demanding the “PARCEL” from Paige. But Casandra manages to banish it. Afterwards they talk about the power she felt in that room. How this might be some serious shit. She tells Paige she’ll make some calls and the FIRST ACT ENDS.
