Work in progress domestic Serrendy fic preview
Two kids later and Leon swore that he was still new to this parenting thing.
Leon and Luis never expected to have kids; he especially didn't expect for them to have two of them. With Leon working at the DSO, handling the stuff of nightmares, and Luis working in the research division, figuring out what exactly made up the nightmares Leon faced, they just wouldn't have the time.
Or so they thought. One thing led to another, and they ended up with a daughter, whom they christened Cassandra Luísa Jacínta Sera Navarro Kennedy. It was a mouthful, but they argued about names so often that they figured it would be better to pick out three and give them to her. They ended up calling her "Cassie" for short anyway.
After Cassie, they swore that she would be the only one, that they wouldn't have time for another child, and that they would be one and done.
But then the world started to get less crazy, bioterrorism started to decrease, Leon was getting called on fewer and fewer jobs, and he was able to actually be there for Cassie's childhood.
That's when Luis decided that he wanted a little boy. At first, Leon had told him no, insisting that Cassie was enough and that a second child would be an absolute handful, and he stuck with his stance.
Until they took 3-year-old Cassie to the park, and she noticed another 3-year-old fawning over their baby sibling in a stroller. When she pointed and asked, "Can I have one?" he knew that he and Luis would be getting to work on giving their daughter a baby sibling that night.
Jesé Miguel Leoné Serra Navarro Kennedy was born that December on Christmas Eve, Cassie getting an early Christmas present in the form of her baby brother that night.
Cassie loved her little brother. She doted over him, cooed at him, and begged to hold him every chance she got. Even though he couldn't exactly play with her the way she wanted, she enjoyed being in his space whenever she could.
Which brought them to now.
Leon had that Thursday off, something that was rare even with the decrease of nightmare monsters and bioterrorism attacks, and he intended to use that day to rest.
Or he was going to try to.
Luis had left early that morning with Jesé, taking him to go get his shots. At Luis' insistence, Leon was going to stay home, since he hadn't had a day off in several weeks, and the last time he had seen one of his children get their shots, he had to leave the room so that he didn't punch the doctor on instinct. He had fought manmade horrors that would make a normal person's heart give out, but hearing his baby cry after getting a shot is where he drew the line.
So, while Luis handled the doctor's appointment, his job was to watch Cassie. Luis had already fed her breakfast and had gotten her ready for the day, so all Leon had to do was watch her.
Which is what they were doing. Sort of. The 'watching' was Leon turning on the bedroom TV and sitting Cassie right next to him while he rested his eyes and tried not to drift off completely.
It worked fine until the four-year-old climbed on top of his chest and tried to pry his eyes open.
"Dada." She said, tapping his face to make sure that he was awake.
"Dada is awake, baby girl." Leon mumbled, even though he wished that he were sleeping.
"I'm bored," Cassie stated, managing to pry one of his eyelids open. "Play with me."
It wasn't a question; it was a demand.
"Don't you want to use that imagination and play by yourself?" He groaned, not ready to leave his memory foam mattress and weighted blanket.
"Okay, I'll give Barbie a haircut." Cassie said, sliding off Leon's chest and presumably off of the bed. "I can use the scissors in the kitchen!" She said, as if she had just formulated the brightest idea known to man.
Leon immediately shot up, running a hand through his hair. Luis would curse him out in two different languages if their daughter were able to get ahold of the scissors.
"Alright, I'll play with you, Cass."
"Yay!"
