Nah, I’m just looking at the MoM’s internship memos and job openings. Nothing too fancy yet, but I’m circling back again just in case. Mom sent me a list of stuff to ask them, so yeah it’s rolling.

Come ooon, you know I’ll support you no matter what but a pet store worker? Well Gringotts is cool, probably won’t have to wear a dorky name tag to work. If anything that sounds like the best option for you, did they talk about any internships or jobs for the summer?

No they didn’t, something about always changing openings. I dunno. Like I said, none of it is all that exciting sounding but it’s a good job. Ugh, this job fair sucks.

I kid, I kid. And yeah, trust me, I won’t ever stoop that low. They talked to me about a shadowing internship where I’d follow a creature keeper around and help with tagging creatures and such.

That’s annoying. Hrm, well, I say you get out of it what you put in. And you’ve put in some pretty good work, so it’s not that bad.

I’ve just talked to a couple of cursebreakers from Gringotts. But I’m thinking of checking Quality Quidditch Supplies as well. Maybe I could get a part-time summer job there.

They’re not real creatures, they’re mostly cats and rats. Miniature puffskiens are hardly enough incentive to want to work at a pet store.

The first makes sense, but why the interest in selling Quidditch robes to folks?

Right? I was helping Hagrid the other day and I had an excellent pun about Salamander’s being hot-stuff, but all the second years just looked at me like i was an idiot. Maybe it’s an age thing as well. Thanks, it was pretty good.

Yeah, I’d say so. Really? C’mon. If you want to land a decent summer job that treats you well, you need to be selective! Pick stuff that you’re good at and then really market your skills.

I don’t think I could ever work for them at the Magical Menagerie, either! I’d want to take home all the cats! Plus, I’m not the biggest fan of rats, so I don’t think working around them is a really good idea. –I don’t know, I think it’d be kinda cool to travel and visit cool and somewhat creepy places all the time! Even if I’m a huge scaredy-cat and would probably be an awful tour guide. 

Well, that’s good, right? Could you see yourself working at Gringotts? Or as a magizoologist? I think the latter would definitely be interesting– especially for you, since it seems to be what you do already. But anyway– no, I didn’t really find anything that really fit me. Well– wait, no, that’s a lie. I did talk to the owners of Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour, as well as Sweetplum’s, and would quite enjoy working at either, except I’d probably gain a ton of weight because I wouldn’t be able to stop eating ice cream and sweets! (Though, I guess it could be argued that I already eat so much of both already….) But anyway– I think I’m still better off working at the Leaky Cauldron, helping my mum and the kitchen staff out.

I don’t know, I think the TerrorTours people might have the right idea of it – not that that makes me interested in them at all, I definitely don’t want to spend my nights deliberately scaring myself and other people. Congratulations on your other leads, though! I got too intimidated to talk to the newspapers because I saw people more qualified like Alexis and Shawn over there speaking with them, but Flourish and Blotts did seem like they might have some summer positions available. They said they get swamped with all the Hogwarts students coming in wanting to buy up their book lists.

What? No, they don’t. They’re profiting off misconceptions that people have surrounding creatures! Eh, I say you should have gone for it. People like seeing kids with nerve. And I’m sure they would have appreciated being rescued from Shawn.

As if I knew. Nothing in bureaucracy sounds fun but it’s important and I want to do something important. The Department of Magical Law Enforcement could be interesting. If they offered me something I’d take it.

Awwww... so you pushing me away if I decided to screw up my life is just a round about way of telling me that you really do care about me? Love you too, Livvie. Maybe, I dunno if I’d want to teach though. I really did like talking to the creature keeper at Gringotts-- she was explaining how they were starting to do more research on figuring out which creatures would be best suited for both the needs of the bank and for their ecological needs. So, no more blind dragons underground.

They don’t even tell you what department? Huh. Well, I mean, it would be a foot in the door no matter where you land, right?

I was talking with the people from The Ministry but they kind of feel flat on their showcasing of what their internship is. Maybe it’s better than they make it sound, and it is competitive which I like.

Whaaaaat? Are you telling me you would break off all ties with me if I suddenly decided selling rats to kids was my life’s passion? I’m hurt, Liv, I really am. I thought you were supposed to support me unconditionally. Yeah, I guess... I just never realized how... draining it could be in the field. Mentally, speaking.

Which department of the Ministry? I mean, there’s a lot you could do there, from wand registry to department of mysteries. Anything specific catch your eye?

Am I the only one who feels sort of forced to pick a career immediately with this whole career fair thing happening?  I’m still pretty torn about what I want to do and as much as I know this is supposed to help, it honestly just makes me even more anxious.

Right... well, I’ve talked with the folks over at the Magical Menagerie and I can safely say, I’m not at all interested in tending to a pet store. And the folks over at TerrorTours wanted me to talk with them, but I don’t really like the idea of calling creatures “horrifying” or “fear-inducing.”

But, uh, the creature keepers that work with Gringotts seem interesting. I got a bunch of leaflets about what they did. And I talked with a magizoologist who does fieldwork on Fwoopers-- mate didn’t seem all that right minded, but I think he’ll be fine after he goes on that sabbatical of his.

Anyone else see anything they were interested in?
