Okay, so this is weird. Because I didn’t expect it, and probably didn’t want to see it coming either. But honestly, it’s hard to say goodbye to a place that was so lovely and so healthy, and full of people who wanted to plot and love and just be the best people.

I’ve met some of the most amazing writers over here, and I’ve come across plots that I’ve personally been rooting for. And I wanted to thank you guys for loving Clara—and Austin like you did, and you always would have.

Thank you for giving me the chance to play a showboat, and thank you for entrusting me with a goofball like Austin. These characters have shown me new perspectives, things I never knew I could write about. Thank you to literally everyone I’ve written with for giving me, a budding writer, with a chance to grow and improve.

I’m not a fan of goodbyes. So this is more of a ‘I’ll see you all again soon’. I love you guys so much.

Thanks Austin, but I’m not miserable. Just a little stressed. I don’t think I want to work for the ministry and if I peruse a career in Quidditch it’ll probably be to play professionally. But I’m also not sure if I want to do that for the rest of my life either. 

You could play professionally for a couple of years, be rich and famous and then retire to the Ministry. You’d be an asset in the Games department, which is equally amazing!

And yeah, the Auror department, of course! Mostly the Magical Law Enforcement agency. It seems bloody wicked, mate.

“I mean, I think it’s just like, passing DADA, right? That seems super easy, you’re always really good in class. They just like, want you to prove that you can work well with other people maybe? They know teenagers right out of Hogwarts aren’t going to like, be super trained yet.”

“I am good at DADA, but they also need Potions and like other subjects that I’m totally not passing. I swear to God, if it wasn’t for Alexis, I would be at Troll level. But yeah, the Auror division host these annual classes or something, and I think I’m gonna ask them about it.”

Right… well, I’ve talked with the folks over at the Magical Menagerie and I can safely say, I’m not at all interested in tending to a pet store. And the folks over at TerrorTours wanted me to talk with them, but I don’t really like the idea of calling creatures “horrifying” or “fear-inducing.”

But, uh, the creature keepers that work with Gringotts seem interesting. I got a bunch of leaflets about what they did. And I talked with a magizoologist who does fieldwork on Fwoopers– mate didn’t seem all that right minded, but I think he’ll be fine after he goes on that sabbatical of his.

Anyone else see anything they were interested in?

I mean, magizoologists mate! Newt Scamander was one of them, and look at the size of our freaking textbooks every year!

Nah, I’m just looking at the MoM’s internship memos and job openings. Nothing too fancy yet, but I’m circling back again just in case. Mom sent me a list of stuff to ask them, so yeah it’s rolling.

Blair wrinkled her nose at the idea of being an Auror, but quickly tried to make her face impassive. She liked Austin – he was nice to her, unlike some of their classmates. She didn’t want to crush his dreams. “I mean, I don’t know if it’s like, direct experience, but daddy would write you a really great recommendation when you did apply for like, Auror school or whatever.”

“I’d super appreciate that! Honestly, I have no idea what kind of experience they require, but I should go out there in the world and just do stuff, right? Like...interning at QQQ. It should be akin to real life. And if my OWLs go poorly, I’ll always have that...”

I would really like that! But do you think an internship experience would look good on an Auror application someday?
