Soooo I just finished reading both reprogramed and decoded yesterday, and I found out about this AU this past Sunday, and oh my it was amazing! I LOVE the story and how action packed it was! And the angst was on point! I have found my new hyperfixation and I now plan on re-watching the show after many years! There is one thing that I've been wondering about though, and I'm kinda lost so for those who haven't read either, SPOILERS AHEAD‼️‼️‼️
So in Decoded we find out Chris has a microchip in his bicep, and he's desperate to get it out, but Aviva and the rest refuses because of the risk of Chris losing mobility in his arm because the chip is super close to his nerves, right. So after Chris dangerously removes it himself (which props to him, I don't even know how he did that without being put under!), there is a lot of emphasis that something happened to his arm. He rests his arm a lot on his lap, but he still does something with it, and he said that he knew he was going to get scolded by Martin cause of the chip (which is totally understandable).
So my question is, to not drag this on, is Chris' arm completely paralyze from the procedure, or is it only weaker? And if it's weaker, will his arm get better?

And to answer your question, no it's not paralyzed. He just has some nerve damage.
The microchip and Chris' reaction to it was an allegory for the entire plot. Something invasive was done to Chris, completely out of his control, and he could have waited to get professional help. He could have seen a doctor and they would have been able to remove it with gentle precision; his hand would have been fine. It probably wouldn't have even left a scar. But he made a choice due to the fact his family was in danger. And even if he doesn't regret his choice, he'll have to bare the consequences.
