IM OBSESSED W THEM LIKE were they the healthiest couple? No. But they had SO MUCH LOVE TO GIVE EACH OTHER AND JUST LOOK AT THIS

Kaji was one of the few people Misato had a genuine relationship with. Their love is beautifully tragic... these two young people trapped in a dystopia just trying to survive. At first, both of their top priorities were to find more about NERV and human instrumentality and angels and such, but when Misato realized (or maybe she always knew) that they still loved each other, everything changed for them. The silent phone. The message he left. The way Misato sacrificed herself for Shinji in EOE because of Kaji and his information and her trust in him and her love for him and yeah. What they had is so heartbreaking... desperately in love you know.
