I've said this before on this blog but companion!natia would go all "leliana at the temple of sacred ashes" if a warden tries to put harrowmont on the throne.

I think it'd be an unavoidable situation where she'd turn on the warden (ESPECIALLY a non-dwarf, though I also think she'd be mad at an aeducan who is willing to put their understandable personal grievances over the good of orzammar's lowest class).

because on one hand, I do NOT like s.tephanie p.hillips as a writer (or the state of marvel comics in general rn). I don't have a lot of faith in the new reboot & haven't liked the last few runs.

but at the same time. I AM at the very least going to give it a go & I kinda like the decision to make him a law professor. plus the art seems nicer than some stuff lately so MAYBE it'll be more in line with what I want for my dd comics. I really don't know.

it was humiliating to walk into ostagar, see cailan again, meet the new recruits and not have anything on her feet. the ground was hard, rough and she kept stepping on small stones. by now, she's been without shoes since she was exiled, so her feet were used to the cold and how uneven the terrain was.

kaja looks over at the other recruit duncan had mentioned ; another dwarf from orzammar, apparently. she almost makes a comment that she should recgonize her, but drops it before it can leave her lips. perhaps it would be better if the princess of orzammar wasn't known for walking around barefoot on the surface. she still had some pride left, even if her self esteem had been destroyed.

" do i look nude to you? " she crosses her arms across her chest. " i don't worship that if that's what you're wondering, " she gestures to the small group praying to the maker in the middle of camp.

Honestly, she doesn't recognise her: it's not like they ran in similar social circles back in Orzammar, and if she'd been at the Proving (or, well, the incident, as Natia expects it's been dubbed in her wake), she hadn't really paid attention to anything beyond her own nose.

Such was her life, really. No time to pay attention to those too far above you when you're not even supposed to exist.

Despite how rude her initial comments might've seemed, there's no malice in her dark eyes, just a curious smile as she takes in the sight of someone who might be more fun to talk to than all the others — another dwarf and another woman.

"I just wanted to check you didn't have, I dunno, a reason for going barefoot," she says with a bit of a shrug, rather too cheery to be here.

She follows the other dwarf's line of sight over to the group of maker-worshipers. A strange bunch, even by her standards.

"That thing they're worshiping isn't even impressive,"

Statues are just stone with little pieces chipped off. She could probably make a better one with the dagger in her pocket. And maybe she should.

"Might have another pair of boots in my pack, if you want. Leather. Stole 'em off a Carta idiot back in Orzammar. Might be a bit squashed, though,"

She definitely used the bag as a pillow on the journey to Ostagar. Or maybe she sat on it? It's hard to remember, so much had happened so quickly.

"You know what's funny? I thought I knew everyone in Dust Town, but we've never met!"

oh I think age-wise Natia is 18-19 during the blight, given that rica is apparently 22 and leske is 19.

currently I'd define it as low activity here. most of my time and energy seems to go to my dragon age ocs or my other accounts.

but if you're interested in interacting seriously, I'd LOVE to get talking properly to ensure we're actually able to write haha. sorry I tend to be missing so regularly.

I played a little DAO and wanted to share just what nat's skills & talents look like. it's all VERY scattered but what I realised was that she'd be a tempest if i played her in inquisition.

many thoughts on Nat & gender as a performance but it’s hard to put into words. But something about how the life of crime she leaves in Orzammar intersects with the overtly feminine treatment of Rica. Or the way she does literally pretend to be a man at the proving.

I don’t KNOW how she feels about her gender. Once she’s a Warden I think a big part of her adores revelling in the feminine while maintaining her own strength and skill. It means a LOT to be seen as pretty.

but I do think the performance of gender roles is a thing that stays. by the time of inquisition I think she/they becomes more appropriate. yes, she’s a woman and adores her femininity but they does also think gender is far more fluid than simply being one thing forever.
