Contemporary composers: idk, random screaming sounds like a good idea

if you have a friend who plays a reed-instrument and donât know what to get them as a present just get them a heap of reeds as they will probably break into tears of happiness and joy bc thatâs like the best present you could get a reed-playing friend

Day 11 of #BlackHistoryYouDidntLearnInSchool - Ruby Bridges
I recognize that some of yâall learned about Ruby Bridges in school, so did I. But in school, I didnât realize how difficult and harsh the conditions were for Ruby Bridges. I wasnât taught that there were crowds each day threatening her, that her family was ostracized and lost their land and jobs, that she received death threats while in school. Some of the black history we learn in school is downplayed. The fact that Ruby Bridges attended an all-white school is radical and important. I want people to know that. We went over it in history class as if it was nothing and that to me is inexcusable. That is how much of my education about black history in school has gone and Iâm not for that.Â

Megamind - 'Bad Guy' vs âNice Guyâ
Seriously, if you havenât see this movie, you really, really should. There are so many great things about Megamind: anti-bullying, great female character, funny jokes, touching scenes, very detailed animation, super awesome music⊠The gif set above is probably my favourite thing, however: Nice Guy is the bad guy.
Yeah Iâve kinda wanted to talk about this a lot.
Megamind is the villain, the âbad guyâ. She makes it clear that she doesnât want him. He respects it and walks off. It comes up a few more times but itâs more of an âare you sure?â or âthats how it isâ than any sort of demand.
Hal is the new âheroâ. His crush on Roxanne turns into an immediate âYou love me now because Iâm a superhero!â and when she makes it clear that she doesnât want him, his reaction is to tantrum, then destroy the city, inevitably killing people, and attempting to kill both Roxanne and Megamind.
Halâs legitimately scary because women have to deal with behavior like his on a constant basis. Donât be a Hal. Be a Megamind. RESPECT THE âNOâ.
Unrelated, but my other favorite thing, besides the whole âvillain is a Nice Guyâ, is that Minion cross-dresses and Megamind is completely serious when he says âyou look fantasticâ. Megamind is totally cool about his best friend cross-dressing and encourages it. Thatâs very important.
Roxanne also is the only character that moves the story along. All the other characters are having an existential crisis. Roxanne throws things and steps up first and is just a fucking queen.
Also I am like 200% convinced Megamind is bi. BUT THATS ME NOT OFFICIAL CANON although Dreamworks has like abandoned Megamind entirely so fandom says heâs bi THE END fandom-canon is now canon fight me on this
Sometimes I think this movie came out a few years too early. Tumblr would have loved the shit out of this. This movie fucks with stereotyped gender roles and Nice Guy thinking and just augh Dreamworks why did you let go of this why why why that was the worst decision ever why
This this this THIS THIS THIS
Sums up perfectly why I love this movie. (Aside from the all the other good reasons.) <3
That awful moment when you learn that this wasnât scripted. That Will Smithâs character was actually supposed to brush off the whole thing, but Willâs father actually had left him when he was younger and he just fell apart on the set and the hug at the end was from one actor to another, not one character to anotherâŠ
Always reblog.
STOP SPREADING THIS FUCKING LIE. THIS WAS SCRIPTED. WILL SMITHâS FATHER WAS ALWAYS IN HIS LIFE. STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT. HE IS A WONDERFUL ACTOR AND HE MADE THIS BELIEVABLE, THAT IS ALL. FUCKING WHITE PEOPLE TRYING TO MAKE EVERY BLACK PERSONâS SUCCESS BASED IN âTHIS WAS THEIR REALITYâ FUCK YOU.

Isnât this fun? /sarcasm And by fun I mean spectacularly horrible and disgusting. If you are a feminist and you care about domestic abuse laws etc, you should definitely pay attention to this, and the fact that disabled people, particularly women, are excluded from being protected under this law. When 80% of disabled women are abused at some time in their lives.
