And I believe in love.
That’s not selfish, Supergirl. That’s human. Do you want to know the real reason why I left National City? I wasn’t happy. So I asked Siri, “Where is the happiest place on Earth, Siri?” And she answered, “Bhutan. ” So, I booked my passage to the Himalayas and moved into a yurt. Now, do you have any idea what is in a yurt? Nothing. Nothing. Not even central air conditioning. But these people, they are happy. A child learns how to walk. They sing. A group of people come down from a hike from the mountains and they, they dance. And a couple, they go on their first date and they throw a damn festival! And all of a sudden, the secret to happiness just dawned on me. It’s human connection. And I could conquer the world at CatCo, or I could twiddle my thumbs in the yurt and the loneliness would feel exactly the same, because I was missing the point. It’s not about what you do. It’s about who you love. And there are two people that you love trapped in an evil spaceship. Wanting to rescue them is not selfish. It’s everything.

top 10 hoffman moments
1. when he smugly framed himself as the only survivor post-saw iv and then realized peter had survived the trap
2. when he smugly walked into the police department to solve his own set of murders and realized lindsey perez had also survived his trap and had secretly been alive for two whole movies
3. when jill fucking tasered his ass and put him in a reverse bear trap

words: 1562 chapters: 1/1 fandom: saw
notes: uh. i don’t usually mainstream fandom fic, like at all, but i had to do something with my feelings about the sad saw girls and this was bouncing around in my head for a little bit. these two should’ve talked more.

Hold the fuck up this is kinda gay though
Life is not a hair commercial, Diana.
During the fifth episode of “Big Little Lies,” director Jean-Marc Vallée unveiled an image so instantly satisfying its full weight didn’t register right away: Three women, running together in silence, wordlessly united against the pain all around them. Jane’s therapeutic jogging scenes have become a staple of the HBO limited series, but Shailene Woodley’s character is no longer alone. Her new equally tormented best friends, Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) and Celeste (Nicole Kidman), are now running right beside her. It’s a testament to the support needed to survive in a world filled with hardship, but it’s also a conviction of silent suffering. Each woman has a secret. Each woman is afraid to confess her secret, and — as the series so prominently foreshadows — it could end up killing one of them.
okay umm i’ve already lost some of what i was gonna say
ghost!heather is largely interpreted as, y’know, veronica’s inner monologue/guilt/whatever, but everything she says and does is based on how veronica remembers her. so i still think it’s interesting that after shine a light she has a line that’s like “the adults are powerless. they can’t help us, nobody can help us.”
i notice that the fandom seems to like to draw heather chandler/jd parallels and i do somewhat see why? their issues definitely manifest in very different ways probably… largely because of the differences in how they were brought up and socialized. but they both seem to have a very cynical core that a) prevents them from empathizing with other people and b) seems in some way spawned from or connected to the adults in their lives.
jd is the target of outright abuse from his father, but a lot of heather’s behavior reads to me as classic signs of emotional neglect: reckless behavior (ie hypersexualization and substance abuse), excessive spending/fixation on material possessions, obsession with/insistence on being able to control her surroundings and the people in them in lack of a healthily structured environment. that she measures things and judges people by how much they are superficially “liked” but doesn’t really seem to understand deeper emotional connection.
dissecting her “mean girl” tendencies is interesting to me and i think ultimately important to her character
