Sharing is caring! ~
Even if you can't donate, you each have a refined skill that will help this be a success: your social media skills! The more eyes that see our page, the greater our chance of reaching our goal. So share our Indiegogo page and spread the word to your friends on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr or any other social media! Also, drop us a line if you have some words of encouragement or advice. We are so willing to collaborate and we need your love!
The Impact ~
Being a student has taught me the virtues of stretching my finances and how to make a pot of chili last three weeks. I know that without you, this vision would remain in my head. With your generosity, I will be able to finance an ambitious dream while living off of saltines and rice. Outside of a university's collaborative environment I may never get this chance again. I'm willing to jump off the cliff without wings, and I'm hoping you will supply them mid-air. I sometimes feel like this dream will bury me alive, so I need your help to keep my head above the sand.
Art knocks at the cracks and chinks in society, and I want to raise questions about war, women, men, God, death, mental issues, youth, faith, and violence. I don't presume to answer any of these questions in Cri de Guerre, but I hope to examine their meaning through my own and Joan of Arc's raw inner turmoil.
The Exchange ~
Unconventional is the word to describe my approach to film. Rehearsing up to 20 performers, shooting underwater in a safe but realistic way, and travel to up to seven different locations are the challenges we face as a team. We are raising 8000 dollars to rent underwater camera equipment and lights, to transport and feed our "village", and for costumes, props, insurance, and safety training. Our creative team is volunteer and passion based but if we fly past our goal, we'll be able to compensate them too!
By making a five dollar contribution, you can add your voice to the film and receive a special thanksin the credits. For ten dollars you receive a downloadable copy of the film when it is finished in May!
For 50 dollars you will receive a DVD of the film and behind the scenes footage as well as thesoundtrack composed by Dan Puccio for the film!
As costume designer, I am incorporating fabric printed and dyed by a unique natural method into the costumes. For 100 dollars a piece of naturally dyed fabric will be yours in addition the above perks!
Artist Hannah Rae Peterson has donated her artwork so that you can take home a piece of her concept art and all of the above perks by contributing 200 dollars to Cri de Guerre!
Finally, you can become the executive producer and discuss the director's vision over Skype! Your name will be in the credits and IMDB page from now into posterity.
If we fall short of our goal, we will have to cut back and funnel the funds into the most necessary areas. I may have to take personal loans in order to retain the integrity of my vision. No matter what, I will use everything in my power to stay true to the vision that so many people have already joined in on.
The Vision ~
When I began to conceive a project that would unite all of my passions I was stumped. I wanted it all to be a part of it - my background in dance, my studies in costume design, the music I was listening to, and the creative people I knew. But nothing could encapsulate the entirety of the vision I want to convey.
Somewhere in the Fjords of Norway this summer I remembered a biography I read of Joan of Arc, being swept away by her timeless story. I began to wonder about the moments forgotten by history. Not the words she uttered under trial as a heretic, but the moment she stopped to touch a flower before surging into battle. Could she have been anything like me?
That was the first question that started the avalanche of curiosity boiling out of my head and then I knew that I had found my call to arms. This was the story that could only be told in a new language and a foreign atmosphere. With dance, the language of the soul, and water, the atmosphere of another sphere, I hope to revive Joan in a new way, and ponder the mysteries that will never be revealed by the nearly 15,000 tomes written about her life. This is Joan of Arc's cry of war.
