“PC Culture” Culture Run Amok, from Jen Sorensen
FEC Commissioner Ann Ravel said this week that, based on the Intercept's recent reporting, Citizens United has allowed foreign money to flow into U.S. elections.
Great investigative journalism does it again!
Federal Election Commission member Ann Ravel on Tuesday proposed a ban on political contributions by domestic subsidiaries of foreign corporations.
Ravel’s proposal cites The Intercept series last week reporting that American Pacific International Capital, a California corporation owned by two Chinese nationals, donated $1.3 million to Right to Rise USA, the main Super PAC supporting Jeb Bush’s presidential run.
"These women must ... wait for the law to change as their childbearing years continue to slip away."
In New Jersey, four lesbian women are filing a lawsuit because their insurance won’t cover the cost of fertility treatment unless couples first participate in “heterosexual intercourse” to see if they can get pregnant that way. Really.
According to NJ.com, Erin and Marianne Krupa of Montclair, Sol Mejias of North Bergen, and Sarah Mills of Union City were all denied coverage based on the heteronormative wording of a law. A New Jersey state mandate from 2001 defines infertility as being unable to become pregnant after “two years of unprotected sexual intercourse.” For people in same-sex relationships, many of whom go about conceiving via methods such as artificial insemination and surrogates, this isn’t relevant, and ends up excluding them from important coverage.
Instead, the four women had to pay for the expensive treatment out of pocket after all being denied coverage by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield — even in one instance, Erin Krupa’s, where infertility stems from endometriosis. The suit, filed Aug. 1, reads, “Despite having a medical diagnosis of infertility, because, as a lesbian in a committed relationship, Erin could not show that she had unprotected sexual intercourse with a man for the requisite period, the Krupas were not protected by the mandate.”
Cannot believe this is actually in writing. Holy cow.

James Madison (1751-1836) said:
Multiple news sources have run stories of the Clinton campaign blaming the leaks on Russia. Here is one from The Guardian.

Clinton’s campaign manager, Robby Mook, said on Sunday that “experts are telling us that Russian state actors broke into the DNC, stole these emails, [and are] releasing these emails for the purpose of helping Donald Trump”.
Jill Stein is urging Sanders to withdraw his endorsement of Hillary Clinton and explore collaboration with the Green Party after the latest DNC email leak.

RNC attendees tried to hide a demonstrator’s “No racism, No hate” sign with an American flag. Clearly they failed to see the irony. The protester was from the Code Pink group — who haven’t been slowed down by this at all.
Using an American flag to cover up someone calling for an end to racism and hate is the best metaphor I’ve seen in a long time for the GOP.
