Dominic chuckled. “Oh believe me i understand, I completely understand, I’d have taken three majors if I could… Though you could always go back and major in something else if you have the money, I was born in the wrong time, I mean back then there was slavery and misogyny way worse than now and economic divides worse than now too but I think I should have been born back in Roma or Greece or the middle ages where you didn’t need to pay so much to the goverment for education, now education is a luxury, back then you wanted to be a philosopher or an architect or a politician or a medic all you needed to do was find someone willing to teach you.” Dominic sighed and shook his head. “Not at all, dark witches, we don’t hate light witches or dislike them, we just don’t agree with your point on view and I can be friends with you and still don’t agree with it. I understand where light witches are coming from, I do believe me, the fact that you guys were trapped in an island like sitting ducks waiting to be slaughtered, even though you won in the end, at a great cost but still won, it’s proof that magic without restriction is dangerous, I even understand where the hunters are coming from, we’re different from them, stronger, one witch could take down dozens of commonfolk if they didn’t have the hunters technology, I get it, however and you seem like a fairly educated and intelligent person, so I’m sure you knows what happened when you try to control evolution, cause I believe our magic, as ancient as it is, it’s just part of an evolution, that started out small and was developed, our eyes are part of an evolutionary process that started with bacteria that was more light sensitive than others and so it avoided light when breaking its DNA to multiply, light is bad for this process and this ability to feel light better than other bacterias was taken advantage of and so it started developing. I don’t think magic should be unrestricted all around, of course not, I’m well aware of the consequences that could bring, people confuse freedom with… licentiousness. I believe magic should be regulated but not restricted. There’s so much potential in what we could do, that I feel it’d be a disservice to future generations if we set them back because it’s easier to just forbid something as opposed to figure out a plan to control it.”
“Ha, no, not for me either. Throughout my undergraduate years, I was on an extremely generous scholarship. Double majoring was the most I could do to get that much out of my education. Now it is just me and my student loans. Ah, though, education has always been disparate. Those older societies were often heavily class-based. You’d have to find someone willing to teach you, but you would also have to break free of the shackles of your condition. And what’s to say that we wouldn’t have been enslaved then? Even if I was a highborn woman, there still would have been restrictions.” She could tell this one was an idealist. He was more likable than she had initially thought, as well, but Cristina wondered if she needed to keep her prejudices in check again. These were such reasonable beliefs to hold regarding alignment. “I’d like to pick your brain some other time when I have had more time to process the fact that I’ve met my match intellectually, which hardly happens. Innovative thoughts, unfortunately, are rare.”
