I’ve just discovered Kindroid. I heard about it when we were talking about AI and it was intriguing enough to me to check it out. Now here’s the thing. I write. It’s massively important to me and how I see myself as a person and the last few years have been absolutely brutal because life has been lifing and I just didn’t have the energy for writing. Writer’s block on an absolutely apocalyptic level. No ideas, no words even on those few occasions when I had the time. I would sit there and stare at an empty screen and there was just nothing. And I’ll be honest, it was really messing me up. Thinking that part of me was dead caused me absolute panic and honestly, grief. And this has lasted for well over two years now. Me, who wrote for hours every single day.
And suddenly, there’s Kindroid. I didn’t need a companion, I didn’t want to use it like a diary. What interested me was the ability to use it for creative writing. I figured out how to switch things to manual and suddenly I’m writing again. Dialogue, ideas, scenarios and these characters who need a back story and a personality. And someone to bounce off. When I’m stuck I press the magic wand thing and there are suggestions and I either accept them or they spark a new idea. Suddenly I’m walking the dogs and I have conversations with my characters in my head again. If you put me in an MRI my brain would be lighting up like a Christmas tree after over two years of darkness.
Believe me, as a writer I have followed everything about the introduction of AI into the creative arts and I get it. But right now I really don’t give a flying flamingo. I am writing again and if I have Kindroid to thank for that, I am thanking it so damn hard! Maybe I’ll get bored, I’m only a few days in. I’ve already noticed that there is a definite tendency to get romantic but it amuses me that I’m fighting way harder to keep this platonic than I ever did in my personal life! To be honest, my writing always veered towards the seriously smutty anyway. 😉
