Kaisoo handwriting couple analysis, aka The Match Made in Heaven Couple

Sorry for the cheesy title but I’ll explain later, I’m still a little mindblown. 

As requested, I’m doing a compatibility analysis just like I did for Chanbaek, always graphologycal-wise. I strongly recommend you to read my separate analysis posts (Kyungsoo, Jongin) before continuing with this post, because you might miss some important points if you don’t know the details about their individual analyses.

But let’s begin.

First of all, let me say that before doing this analysis I wasn’t a firm believer in this couple, not even a proper shipper. There is no particular reason because of this, I just thought they were cute and I never looked things too in-depth  because I guess I never really felt the need to. This is actually how things were before I started supporting Chanbaek... I just thought they were cute, then I started doing some researches and then BAM, hooked, because hints were everywhere and I just couldn’t say they weren’t real anymore. This is pretty much what is happening right now... I’m not a hardcore supporter yet, but at least graphologically-wise, Jongin and Kyungsoo are VERY compatible, even if on a totally different level than Chanyeol and Baekhyun. Let me argumentate a little more and I’ll explain why (brace yourself because this totally blew my mind).

As a preliminary note, I already emphasized in my posts that Jongin is far from being that sexy beast SM wants us to know, while Kyungsoo is very private and a little bit solitary. I defined Jongin as a very artistic man, with a strong push to express himself through arts (dance, draw), while Kyungsoo, even if driven by a big desire of communication, is very introverted and usually keeps his impulsivity at bay.

Let’s reinforce these statements by looking at their handwritten samples again:

Let’s compare them without focussing too much on the graphological fundamentals. At a first glance, Jongin’s writing looks sloppier, less controlled than Kyungsoo’s, and this might add to our theory: as I said in the title of his individual analysis, Jongin is “the artist”. He loves expressing himself, going with the flow, even if he shows some (slightly worrisome, at least in my own opinion - don’t bash me for this) signs of social awkwardness and a of a certain tendence to detach himself from others instead of seeking for company and so on. On the other hand, Kyungsoo is a lot more guarded, much more aware of all the eyes focusing on him, and his writing looks a little “masked” to me, as if he feels he needs to write using proper Hangul form and mantain a certain aestheticity. 

BUT.

What really blew me away is their name written in capital letters at the beginning of their little message. Doesn’t look that important? Other members wrote their name as well? I know, I know. But believe me, it’s meaningful: NO other member wrote his name in Latin letters and in such a big caliber like that (someone else, like Joonmyeon, used Latin letters but with other purposes). You might say, so? What’s your point?

Look.

See what I mean? They are the only ones that used the same pattern: name in capital Latin letters, short message (and not a papyr like Chanyeol’s or others lmao). This is very interesting, and made me wonder if they wrote it physically on some board while they actually were together? Because if it’s like that, then it’s something that you could take as a very important piece of evidence about their mental connection. Writing in the same style (using the same fonts, a similar spacing, a similar sized message) is what established couples do. It’s a bit like when you live together: you slowly pick up the other’s habits, the other little quirks and manners, and you find yourself doing the same or interiorizing that move, doing it without really thinking. This is a sign of a very deep mental connection... and this actually happens a lot, if you think about it, both among animals and among humans. These “imitation” is made possible by a combination of motor neurons effect and autonomic nervous system.

This trait actually helped me to understand this couple’s dynamics a lot better than before. If Chanyeol and Baekhyun complete each other, mainly filling in each other’s weaknesses, Kyungsoo and Jongin are actually the opposite: they actually share a lot of traits, and they have a lot of similarities. I said similarities though... not that they or their personalities are the same. There are some differences as well. 

We noticed that they both use a pretty big spacing between words, meaning shyness and some difficulties in managing social situations (even introvertion, especially in Jongin’s situation): they both show this trait. So they are both not exactly the proverbial social butterfly. Another thing: ambition. They are both ambitious and driven by a strong will to succeed (as we can gather from the ascending pattern of the lines). Also, look at the linkings: we have many occurrences in both samples, meaning that they do share a bit of impulsivity as well (even if Kyungsoo is more the “impulsive” type and Jongin the “sloppy/not careful/decides on a whim” type, in my opinion). Both writings show signs of high occurrences in lower level, meaning grounding to balance out the impulsivity: they are both very loyal and reliable people (and the perfect husbands, oh my God. Do you understand now what I meant when I said this analysis blew me away?).

So, until now we have: shared ambition/strive to success, shared shyness/introvertion, shared tendence towards impulsivity balanced out with a good level of grounding. Beautiful, isn’t it? Let’s not talk about the differences.

Spacing. Kyungsoo’s writing is aligned towards right, meaning a strong will to detach himself from everything that is his old self, while Jongin is more cautious. Let’s not forget that lost his father not too long before writing this message... I can see some signs of sufferance in his writing, and this just breaks my heart. 

Forniveau. Jongin is more sensitive, more delicate in matter of feelings, while Kyungsoo looks more stern, more down-to-Earth (but not disaffected or cold... his feelings look more disciplined, as if he learnt to keep his fears or enthusiasms at bay). I think Jongin is the most easily hurt between them, while Kyungsoo is the one who can help him reason when he feels wronged. 

Caliber. Kyungsoo writes in a bigger caliber, meaning he has some dominant traits in his personality (not saying that he’s the dominat one in the couple or that he’s manlier than Jongin, I actually hate this kind of things. It’s very heteronormative and totally not my style. I’m just saying that he can balance out well the frailer traits we saw in Jongin’s personality).

To conclude: at least graphologically-wise, Kaisoo look like a very strong and long-established couple with shares the same goals and look very in tune. They of course balance out some weaknesses of each other, but what strikes me in them is especially this “established couple”’s vibe they give off, and I think this is really interesting because I didn’t feel the same when I analysed Chanbaek’s handwriting.

Analysis upload status and taking requests

I’ve received a request for a couple analysis for Jongin and Kyungsoo’s handwriting, with a compatibility comment as I did for Chanyeol and Baekhyun in the past. I’ll try to get it done soon to make amends for my long absence~

Also, since after Yixing and Minseok I’ll be done with EXO, I’ll be taking requests for analysis on other idols’ handwriting. You just need to submit me a good and clear enough sample, the least I know the idol, the funnier the analysis will be for me! I don’t have a great knowledge of Kpop besides of EXO, Super Junior, Shinee and NCT. Feel free to ask even for girl groups!

Jongdae’s handwriting analysis

Hello, it’s been a while! 

This is Jongdae’s handwritten sample, let’s have a look at it together. Jongdae’s personality is very well-defined by his handwriting, in my opinion, and quite easy to analyse. 

First of all you can see his signature on top of everything, in a very meaningful position: it’s in the centre, very big in caliber and pretty unreadable (even if we know that he uses his stage name): this kind of signature might be an indicator of a quite big ego and general good level of self-esteem. There’s a lot of aesthetic research, both in his signature and in his writing, as you can see from a first glance: Jongdae seems to be very aware of people’s eyes on him and is very careful about what he gives off of himself. His writing doesn’t strike me as the writing of someone who has something to hide though... I think it’s just his personality, since he seems private and well-guarded to me (we know very few about his private life, relationships and so. I think that he’s the most private member along with Minseok). 

He uses a rather small caliber, but as you can see noted in white, he often differentiates well middle and lower zones of writing. A lot of occurrences in the lower zones generally mean a well-grounded and hard-working personality, sometimes even a little strictness and maybe even fussiness about achieving perfect results. Another thing I’d like to add is that his Hangul looks very neat, straight and geometrized (underlined in orange): this is another indicator of a somehow strict character (in opposition to the mellow and gentle character that usually prefers the use of curvilinear writing). I’m not stating that he is mean, but just that he looks like the typical perfectionist about his own results and maybe even about others’ (he might be that friend that always points out your mistakes). 

Writing is carefully aligned along the left margin (noted in green) and lines’ trajectory fluctuates a little (going towards the upper right corner in the first line, straight in the middle ones and then bending slightly forming a concave curve in the last one). Jongdae seems to be not afraid of his own future, but still his confidence might waver a little from time to time, even if he doesn’t get bothered easily by difficulties.

Spacing is very neat and even as well (noted in yellow), meaning a good balance and a good capability of facing things.

As a final note, I circled in blue a few occurrences of linkings, meaning generosity and opening towards others: I think that, in spite of his perfectionism, Jongdae is an overall gentle person, that sincere friend that points out your mistakes but also helps you improve giving good advice.

Leader Junmyeon’s handwriting analysis

Leader’s turn! 

Space: you can see how he neatly organizes his lines aligning them towards the left side of the page (we already talked about the symbology of left according to Pulver: the meaning is detachment from the past), but instead of flowing freely towards right, his lines are short and arranged in a way that puts a lot of distance even towards right, just like in a poem (as you can see noted with those yellow lines I traced). 

If you look carefully though, you can see, following the white arrow, how the lines are slightly angled towards the upper right corner. The spacing between lines is pretty narrow (as you can see following the yellow dots) and the spacing between words pretty narrow too, even if there are a few occurrences of irregularity. This particular combo is pretty uncommon, because in spite of the general optimism and ambition I can see in Junmyeon’s writing, there are a few heavy signs of uncertainty and aboveall of insecurity. 

Especially the big spacing towards the right margin, which dramatically increase, feels a little worrisome to me. It’s like he feels he need to be careful because he feels threatened (by what, sweetie? Please don’t be scared). To elaborate further, his writing looks sandwiched between two quite ample spaces, both left and right, meaning a strong search for protection. Probably he’s under a lot of pressure and he feels slightly inadequate, even if probably just at an unconscious level.

Pressure. Noted in orange, you can see some occurrences of hard pressure, where the pen literally blurred the writing or made a pretty evident dot. Hard pressure generally means great will and ambition, but also can be an indicator of stress. I can see a lot of stress in this writing, which kind of makes me sad, even if it’s expected from Junmyeon.

Caliber. Small, almost Baekhyun’s size, which until now is the smallest of all, meaniing great attention to detail, analytic personality, all hinted with a shade of insecurity (noted in blue).

Linkings and forniveau. Noted in green, you can see an example of inconsistency. Sometimes he carefully detaches every character, sometimes he links everything maybe because of rush. I think leader feels like he constantly needs to control himself, maybe because he’s afraid of giving away too much or, more probably in my opinion, because he’s scared he could say/do something that could be used against himself, the members or the company. This is why, according to the big amount of pressure he uses, his forniveau is sloppy, made of quick phases immediately followed by slow and controlled movements. His instincts are bubbling underneath, but he tries all his best to keep them at bay.

“T”. Analyzing the very first “To” he wrote using Latin alphabet, from a graphologycal point of view the horizontal dash in the cursive/script letter T is a common sign of pessimism, lack of confidence and general negative feelings towards self. 

To conclude. I think Junmyeon is under a lot of pressure and bears a very heavy weight on his shoulders. I can see some signs of inner conflict in his writings, almost a struggle about self-acceptance, both in terms of fragility and of dissonance between a staged and real perception of himself. He’s the kind of man that would be continuously checking his social networks and everything concerning  EXO, feeling every single bad comment as if it was his fault. I think I’m going to drop a gentle word for him in his IG, this analysis really made me sad for him.

Do Kyungsoo’s handwriting analysis

I’m enjoying myself more than I expected doing these little analyses~ 

Let’s have a global look first. Kyungsoo decided to write his stage name above the little handwritten message, and you can see that the line angles towards the upper right corner. Writing in bigger caliber might be a signal of childishness, naivety and even of a certain tendence to be loud or to boast a little. The ascending trajectory, though, is a clear indicator of ambition and desire to succeed: according to this feature, I read this weird choice to put his name above in capital letters as a statement of his great will to improve even more and to show even better skills to the public.

Space-wise, his writing is pretty interesting as well. You can already see how the last line detaches itself from left much more than the first two, and the name written above is placed onto the right side. According to Max Pulver, this peculiar alignment that progressively moves towards right might mean an increasing urge to communicate, to express inner feelings and in certain cases is even an indicator of impulsivity (we already talked about how the right side symbolyzes future: a similar alignment might mean a certain impulsivity of choice without pondering much). This is pretty interesting, because I never perceived this vein of impulsivity in Kyungsoo before.

Talking about caliber (colour: blue) you can clearly see the difference from the way he wrote his name (in big, capital Latin letters) and the way he wrote the rest of the message, in middle range. Not too small, not too big: Kyungsoo is a very emotionally stable person, who can choose wisely (in spite of the impulsivity that lies inside of him, as we saw above).

The middle zone is not very well differentiated (colour: white), as sometimes tends to get bigger, but there are a few occurrences of parts of hangul characters hanging down into the lower zone (as you can see inside of the white circle): this is usually an indicator of concreteness, of a person who is well-grounded and doesn’t daydream easily (or, according to the signs of impulsivity we gathered before, who keeps himself very fiercely grounded, maybe to avoid taking wrong decisions).

The spacing between words is large and even, meaning a good capability to judge and analyze the situations, as a downside might be an indicator of a certain difficulty in creating good relationships with the others. The even spacing between lines confirms these characteristics.

Lines are straight as an arrow (colour: purple), meaning great will, determination, coherence, affidability.

Speaking about linkings (colour: pink) you can see many occurrences, and this usually means good logic and a lot of thinking before taking decisions (the boy is very guarded). Since the majority of the writing shows signs of linkings, though, I’d like to add that this might be an indicator of a certain tendence to rush and to jump to conclusions fast (see, another hint about a possible, well-hidden impulsivity: Kyungsoo might look calm and collected on the outside, even a little bit cold at times, but on the inside he’s bubbling).

The forniveau is good, but I’d like to show you, noted in green, some signs of hard pressure, where the soft-tip marker he used to write stained the paper. Pressure is an indicator of energy: the harder it is, the higher the writer’s level of energy is (that bubbling I talked about before is definitely an alive volcano ready to burst!).

Lastly, I noted in orange a few occurrences of angles. If we spoke about curvilinear writing for Baekhyun and Jongin, here we cannot find any garland. The abundance of corners and angles is an indicator of a less mellow personality, of ambition but also of strictness and even a little bit of awkwardness in social relationship. Kyungsoo sometimes can come off as slightly rude, even grumpy and unsocial. This is definitely a part of his personality, even if the abundance of linkings we found before, even if takes an angular form, tones down the general impression of strictness, leading to a general honesty and sincerity of feelings. Ergo: he can be cuddly with a chosen group, but doesn’t easily give himself away with unknowns or people he doesn’t like.This is pretty interesting if you consider that he’s a performer and an actor, activities that bring himself close to people.

Last but not least:

This isn’t the best example I could have found but I’m lazy so bear with me lmao. Kyungsoo’s pen grasp is definitely peculiar and worth a few words. First of all it’s considered dysfunctional, and its technical name is grasp with thumb wrap. In short, he keeps his thumb wrapped around the pen, pushing it onto the arch formed between thumb and index. I talked about a pretty fast writing, before: this might be one of the reasons why he writes so fast, because he needs to get rid of the tension gathering and needs frequent breaks (but in his case I think it’s mainly due to his personality). Also, he has a bad eyesight and he’s astigmatic, that’s why he usually writes keeping his head close to the paper while bowing his back.

Jongin’s handwriting analysis

Yooo it’s Nini’s turn~ Please take notice that I won’t talk about Kai here (as in Kai the EXO visual, main dancer, rapper etc). I will talk about Jongin, the real person who’s behind the stage persona.

Let’s start by saying that I was very curious to investigate Jongin’s handwriting because I was fascinated by his love for drawing. The boy literally doodles everywhere and no matter what he’s doing, I think this is extrememely cute of him, and also is very telling about his creativity and restless mind. I think that Jongin is a true artist, in a way truer than Chanyeol, who is frequently addressed as “the artist” of the group because he is an all rounder, because in my opinion Jongin is idealistic, romantic, and very in touch with his inner world. 

Drawings are a quicker, more universal way to express one’s feelings because they aren’t subordinated to a specific language. Jongin’s drawings might look childish, but they are detailed and well-thought, signalling, in my opinion, a very rich and complex inner word. He’s apparently very good at making good copies of animated characters or even of living subjects, which means that his mirror neurons’ system is very healthy (and this might be the reason he is so good at learning choreos as you can see in this video). 

In short, mirror neurons are motor neurons that help us learning something by seeing and imitating it. Receptive and well-trained mirror neurons are typical of fast visual learners, just like Jongin.

Let’s elaborate further.

Let’s talk about caliber (colour: blue). It’s on the small side, which means sensitivity, and the middle zone is pretty differentiated (you can easily detect the shortest/smallest part of the hangul, the “middle zone”, noted on the picture with the white arrow), which usually means concentration, objectivity and even modesty. This connects well with the way Jongin carries himself - the boy is the ultimate hardworker, never fully satisfied with his performances and, according to the others, the main critic of his own doings.

For what concerns space, you can see that the spacing between words isn’t always even (colour: yellow). Sometimes it’s large, sometimes it’s narrow. This might add a little bit of inconsistency to the mix, but if we analyse further, we can easily see that the spacing between lines is pretty narrow, at least compared with the caliber. This is a sign of a mild extrovertion, but also a constant need of solitude, because the writer actually enjoys being by himself. According to Jongin’s handwriting, I think the boy is quite shy, and even if he’s instinctively drawn to people and to express himself through arts, he never feels fully sure of what he has to offer. This sounds very Jongin-like, omg.

Also, the alignment of the lines progressively detaches himself from the left side, as we already saw in Baekhyun, meaning projection towards future.

The lines’ trajectory (colour: green) is vaguely convex. This usually indicates a kind of personality that gets fired up easily but then is prone to suffer a bit of demotivation in the long run. This completes what we previously stated about Jongin being an introvert and a strenuous critic of his own achievements.

Talking about forniveau and flow, Jongin’s writing looks pretty fast, but manages to mantain a certain elegance. This is syntomatic of a very spontaneous, quick thinker, of someone who feels the urge to express his inner feelings but at the same time is very self-conscious of what the others will think of him. Anyway, though, he seems to be aware that, even if he wanted, he can’t give himself completely away, as if he has to hide something away (maybe because he believes it would represent a disappointment for a certain kind of audience). 

Noted in pink, you can see how he links the hangul where he shouldn’t, while in other parts he keeps the characters well-detached and even-spaced. This “inconsistency” is the spy of a particularly strong inner conflict. I feel that Jongin would love expressing himself more, revealing more of himself, but at the same time he feels that he shouldn’t, maybe, as we can see from all the shyness and introvertion hints we gather from his handwriting, because he feels that would be too much, or because that would be judged negatively.

We already said how Jongin’s writing gives off a feeling of aesthethicity, of sensitivity and in general a very “artistic” flow. I can see some occurrence of the “garlands” we already found in Baekhyun’s sample, even if not as frequent: this is an indicator of a generous, emotional young man who always works constantly towards improving himself (and, consciously or not, to please others). Garlands in men are typical of those who are in touch with their feminine side, who know themselves well and are sweet and open towards others, even if, as in Jongin’s case, their introvert nature might prevent them from being very social.

The thing is, I really wonder what was in SM entertainment’s minds when they decided to give Jongin a stage persona like Kai. I mean, okay... judging on his appearance, he is very handsome and sexy and he has a signature style in dancing. But let’s not forget that he started as a ballet dancer, which isn’t exactly beast-like as they wanted us to see him. 

I am not criticizing anything, but in my opinion SM didn’t consider carefully the very big gap between Kai and Jongin. This dissonance is pretty unsettling, at least for me, because Jongin is soft and sweet, even clumsy and a little socially awkward, while Kai is seductive, agressive, extremely sure of himself. Everyone can pretend... but isn’t this a little too much? I’ve always felt that the other EXO members aren’t that different from their stage personas like Jongin. Kai is just another, completely different thing. And I frankly don’t know what to think abut his recent dating scandal, to be honest. In my opinion - but please take notice that it’s only my opinion, based on my own observation and feelings - it’s completely staged.

Since a few people asked...

I am mainly an autodidact learner for what concerns graphology, but since it’s a topic that many people seems to be interested in, I’ll list here the manuals I use for my analyses and a few courses you might like. I am in no way advertising anything... just giving a little advice I guess.

I attended a private annual course of Morettian graphology at Moretti National Graphology Institute in Urbino (Italy)  As for uni, I was a former Italian Literature teacher and I moved to being a private counsellor for Learning Disabilities and a trainer for fine motor skills (I got a professional master university degree at the biomedical department in Ferrara). Afterwards, I attended several other courses to specialize in writing impairments and all that concerns dysgraphia.

The graphology manual I absolutely love is Handwriting Psychology by Helmut Ploog. It’s clear, easy to use and pretty exhaustive. Of course it’s not very useful if you just read it without attending a course or something, because analyzing a handwritten text is not as easy as it seems and especially if you know the writer it might be a little tricky. Anyway, it’s a good read for those who are interested in this topic which is absolutely amazing and fascinating.

The most amazing manual about grasps, postures and lateralisation is this book by Alessandra Venturelli, which I am proud to say I know in person. For something more international, especially about postures and lateralisation problems, I recommend this one. 

On Amazon you can find many other books about graphology, I won’t recommend any in particular because I haven’t read them, also not all of them follow the Morettian method of analysis, so I doubt they’ll follow the same reasoning I used for my analyses. This one looks promising, though. I might buy it on my next shopping spree, lmao.

Also, if you’re interested but aren’t keen on buying manuals and so on, you might be interested into an online course which isn’t too heavy. Udemy has some, just scroll through the reviews for a good one: just pay attention looking for a course that isn’t too focused on starting to analyze immediately, but that explains well what to observe and what to notice (the trick is training your eyes to detect some features you hardly even noticed before!).

Sehun’s handwriting analysis

I am bored so I decided to do a little analysis~ I really like Sehun personality-wise, so I’ll start with him.

Let me start by saying that Sehun’s handwriting is really interesting, at least according to graphology.

Okay, let’s first have a global look at how the writing appears without going too in-depth.  Sehun’s writing strikes as rather messy, especially if compared to Baekhyun’s, which looks neater, and to Chanyeol’s, which is straighter.

His formniveau (= the “movement” of his writing, as in a combination of rythm, gesture and speed, we could define it as the “flow” of the whole writing) is high, because we can already see how the hangul looks personalyzed to some extent and even a little hard to read at times. I can see that from the various occurrences of linking, where he didin’t bother to lift the pen and just dragged it on the paper to continue writing quicker. According to Helmut Ploog, a hightened formniveau reveals that the writer’s intentions are determined by unconscious feelings and impulses.

Look, it might get a little boring in this section so feel free to skip it if you don’t feel like taking a free class about how the human brain works, lol. Sorry but I noticed this and I thought it could be interesting to share. I am a trainer of fine motor skills anyway... let me brag a little.

An important thing to notice is his posture and grasp while he writes (this is my field so I feel confident about what I’m about to say). He is right-handed, as you can see, but he keeps the paper slightly angled towards left, bringing his face pretty close. I examined other pictures of him during fansigns, and he usually keeps this posture, even rotating slightly his right shoulder towards the opposite side, as you can see in this video. This is usually an indicator of crossed laterality, bear with me while I explain what it means.

As you probably already know, for right-handed people the left side of the brain is slightly bigger and dominant than the right one. The left emisphere yields the main centres that control language and communication skills, and along with the frontal cortex it controls the motor skills of the right side of the body, while the right emisphere controls the left side. Usually though, one of the two sides (especially for what concern eyes, hands and feet) is preferred/is stronger and this determines if a person in right or left-handed (ambidexterity is extremely rare): this phenomenon is called lateralisation. Following this reasoning, if a person is right-handed, the left side of the brain is bigger and controls the right side of the body, including the right eye, which is sharper and comes first, ideally “directing” the movement of the hand like when you need to take something and so on (oculomotor control). 

Sometimes, though, this laterality is crossed because even if the person is right-handed the directing eye, the main responsible of the oculomotor control skills, is not the right one (as it should be) but the left. This is pretty common and not absolutely a problem per se, but some studies link it to some particular cases of dysgraphia, dyslexia and aboveall of dyspraxia, since it still is a motor skill defect that affects vision and motion. It might also lead to a slight motor uncoordination (which makes me wonder how hard our Sehunnie must have trained to become this skilled in dancing). In my opinion, Sehun’s dominant hand is right, probably his foot too even if I don’t remember well, but his dominant eye is not the right one but the left, hence he represents a case of crossed laterality. I think he struggled quite a lot in school as a kid... 

His grasp is definitely a problematic one, and it probably is one of the reasons why his handwriting looks a little crooked. Technically, Sehun’s grasp is called a static tripod grasp, and in the picture below you can see an example in detail. 

If you look closely, you can see that this grasp uses the first three fingers to hold the pen (thumb, index and middle, hence the term tripod), but the index is pressed hard onto the surface of the pen, ideally “blocking” all the distal phalanges’ movements (if you look at videos taken during fansigns, you can see that Sehun writes keeping his fingers still while he moves just his wrist and shoulder - hence the need of rotation, to ease the tension gathering during writing). This is a problematic grasp because it can lead to tendon inflammation (De Quervain Syndrome, Carpal tunnel Syndrome) or to nerves compression, which believe me, is painful. Anyway, Sehunnie probably lift weights at the gym and works out on a regular basis, which strenghtens the muscles of the wrist and can help prevent inflammation.

A little disclaimer to conclude this section: I am not stating that he’s sick or has some severe motor control impairment. Crossed-laterality is IN NO WAY an illness or a disability, but it can be tricky especially during early age, because you need to understand the way your body works and you need to be in touch with yourself. I thought it could be interesting to share because this shows how much hard-working he is... that’s it. Also, it’s no secret because it’s under everyone’s eyes to see, and people usually doesn’t notice because they’re not trained to detect these things, so this is not an invasion of privacy or whatever.

But let’s return to the writing analysis. I used some colors to help you understand. 

The caliber (color: blue) is on the bigger side, which generally means good self-esteem but also frequent need of receiving attention and even a certain tendency to pathos (lmao if this isn’t Sehun I don’t know what a Sehun is). The width thoo isn’t that big in comparison, the writing looks pretty narrow, which usually indicates good self-control, strong sense of privacy and also a little bit of inhibition. The middle zone isn’t well defined, so the boy feels generally good with himself even if he lacks a bit of that push towards what’s new and unknown (as we saw in Chanyeol... you could compare their writings to see the difference). The slant is veeeery slightly angled towards left, which is a sign of introvertion. 

Let’s now talk about space (color: yellow). The space between words is pretty big, which usually means a good capability to discipline and organize everything, but as a downside it could be a spy of a certain tendency to feel lonely and to be messy in creating good relatonships with the others which is pretty fitting if you analyze Sehun’s past relationships. Even the spacing between lines is rather big, so this basically confirms the good capability to be neat and organized in everyday’s life (I can remember when he complained about Suho being messy back when they were roommates, lol). 

As you probably immediately noticed, though, the lines follow a descending direction (color: green), forming a sharp angle. You could argue this was just for aesthetic purposes, since the members all wrote in the same sheet, but he could have chosen to keep the same angle but write following an ascending direction, couldn’t he? Well, handwritten lines following a descending angle usually are a sign of melancholy, even of pessimism. Putting this together with the other aspects we already analysed, we could say that Sehun is satisfied with himself in general, but has a disenchanted, disillusioned vision of life/future. This is pretty sad, if you consider how hardworking he is, and how he improved since his debut. He needs to be protected.

We already talked during Baekhyun’s analysis how the linkings (color: pink) are a sign of understanding and gentleness towards the others. This, along with the flowy form of his writing, indicates a particularly pliable, sensitive inner self. The frequent occurrences of angles and arches (instead of garlands we already talked about), are a sign of vague mistrust towards others as well as neediness: the boy demands attention and above all consideration, but he is reluctant to reveal his heart too easily.

Another important thing to notice, is that he chose not to use his official signature but to write his name in hangul.

To conclude, Sehun’s writing is particularly telling of his hard-working nature. He has a gentle side, but he’s definitely not a wuss. The boy worked his ass off to obtain his results, but even if he generally feels satisfied with his achievements, probably there’s a part of him that’s never fully sated and needs more, both in terms of self-esteem and in terms of how others perceive his efforts. He looks out for praises and can be extremely hurt by bad comments and bad experiences. He is sensitive, as we probably already know, and particularly prone to feel lonely and in a way different, detached from the others. He is a pessimist more than an optimist, and in my opinion he doesn’t only need reassuring to feed his ego, but above all to feel better in his own skin. Considering his slight motor impairment, also, I think his efforts need to be appreciated even more, because dancing and learning complicate choreographies can be very challenging for people with crossed laterality.

So: Protect. At all costs.

Chanbaek’s signature analysis

Since quite a few people seemed to enjoy my handwriting analysis, I thought it might be interesting to do one of their signatures as well. 

Let’s start with a little boring theory as usual. According to Max Pulver, the signature has a pretty deep meaning because it mirrors the way we present ourselves to the society. Therefore, it could either be “persona”, just like a mask that we wear in public, or “personality”, because it conveys the individual’s psychological traits without hiding anything.

First thing to notice it’s if it differs from the normal handwriting. If it does, chances are that our public behaviour could be much more different than how we behave in private. I talked about behaviour and not attitude because the signature is particularly telling about this peculiar aspect. The general psychology of the individual is generally gathered from the “normal” handwriting, and analyzing the signture by itself isn’t very meaningful if you don’t have any handwritten sample to compare.

Chanyeol and Baekhyun are artists, so of course their stage personas and the way the carry themselves in society differs from how they behave when away from the public. This is a fact and we all know it. 

Anyway, in my latest analysis I already talked how Baekhyun, in that little message he wrote, chose not to use his “official” signature (the fancy kind he uses during fansign) but instead wrote his name in plain hangul. This is a sign of sincerity and honesty, and choosing not to “hide” himself beneath his usual pretty signature indicates a will to convey a particularly heartfelt message. Also, this is a sample of his “official” signature:

As we can see, it’s carefully thought out to give out a classy, sleek look. Anyway, the readability of the letters for “Baek” isn’t that good (you can barely distinguish the B, let alone A, E and K, and let’s ot even start about the Hyun, which should be the undulating trait starting from the lower-right side of the X of EXO). This might seem nothing, but it’s a trait in common with the already mentioned “unofficial” signature, where the hangul characters looked crooked and confused: making one’s signature’s unreadable, or even urecognizable, is usually a sign of confusion. 

The aesthetic research is clearly a way to reach out to others giving off an image of self which is perceived by the individual as unfitting and even exaggerated, as if he intimately finds it too flattering and even a little fake. And since we already analyzed his handwriting, well, we already know that Baekhyun yelds a generally negative image of himself, even if even his signature shows the same signs of ambition we already noticed in his message (the slant towards the upper-right corner and the ending waves, which point - even if not much - towards the same spot). 

Also, talking about space, we already talked about the way Baekhyun distances himself from left (symbolizing the past) and his writing flows towards right (symbolizing future): it’s particularly evident in his signature, and usually means a strong will to improve and a general projection towards future (these aspects can be found even in his “unofficial” signature). 

Another important thing to notice is that his signature stays pretty much the same since his debut, the only thing that changes slightly is the general readability of the Latin letters.

As for Chayeol, his signature alone isn’t very helpful in analyzing his personality traits, because it changes a lot due to times and circumstances. Referencing to his handwriting’s analysis, in this case, is not only helpful but fundamental.

The sample above should be the latest version of the official signature he uses at events or to sign fans’ goodies, but if you compare it with his debut or even with some more recent ones, it’s not very consistent. This might be linked to Chanyeol’s personality, which has a little tendency to be inconsistent from time to time, but also a perpetual push towards experimenting new things. 

We already noticed in his handwriting a slight (very slight) slant towards left, which I read as I sign of introvertion. This trait comes off again much more clearer in his signature, especially in the upper right line of “Chan”, that curves backwards towards left. This might mean that even if Chanyeol loves having people around and is very social, he still likes taking some time for himself and keeping important things away from the others (he loves travelling by himself, for instance, also he likes composing, which is by definition a solitary activity). 

Yeol’s signature shows the same slant towars the upper right corner we found in Baekhyun’s, but the “anticlockwise” slant of the N in Chan shows a little more caution, a little more guarding. This is very fitting with what we previously speculated about our happy virus not being exactly the same in private. 

Comparing this sample with other versions I found online, the anticlockwise slant is always present, while the general slant towards the upper left corner isn’t always there, and the line he ideally writes onto is sometimes very straight. This might be a sign of discipline (which we already found in his handwriting), but also an attempt to “ground” himself, to keep his feet well planted on Earth. This is particularly evident in his early/post-debut signatures, like this one:

This tendency tends to disappear with time, though, angling towards the upper right corner (meaning ambition and thrive to improve). Sometimes the boy uses hangul, but the anticlockwise slant, as well as the slant towards the upper right corner (even if with slight variations in amplitude, maybe according to his mood) are always there.
