Shown above is a video still from my new work, Remediated. The work was made for The Cube Art Project in Lincoln, NE at the Railyard. They will kickoff the project on July 21st with an event screening art works selected to show over the course of the next year. The “Cube” was made for public screenings of movies, games, and their public art initiative. I look forward to showing new work as part of this project.

It’s that time of year where high schoolers take up studies at Notre Dame’s Summer Scholars program. As a guest lecturer for Jayson Bimber’s Photography class, I use the opportunity to lead a workshop where we make a collaborative and very experimental stop motion video. An opportunity to string images together to create sequences of transformation and movement, it’s always a fun and challenging exercise. Every year brings different ideas and outcomes, with exception of the banana. Somehow a banana makes it into every video, likely the result of asking students to collect props over lunch....
Kalamazoo, MI- March 4, 2017
I am heading to Kalamazoo this weekend for two great events! First, check out the Teen Filmmaker’s Festival here: https://www.facebook.com/teenfilmfest/ I had the great pleasure of being on the jury for the finalists, and there are some wonderful upcoming filmmakers in Michigan. They will be screening those finalists on Saturday at the Chenery Auditorium. Details on their facebook page. Come check out the youth talent if you are in town!
Secondly, Yellow Gold is screening at NxMW Micro-Budget Film Festival on Saturday in three screening blocks! See the details for Yellow Gold here: http://nxmwfilm.org/2017/films/yellow-gold/ and the full schedule for all their great films here: http://nxmwfilm.org/2017/all-films-events/
On Dec 6th, The Midwest Independent Film Festival held their annual “Best of the Midwest Awards” event. To my pleasant surprise, Yellow Gold took home an award for “Best Artistic Specialization” for its stop motion animation. Love this film festival for showcasing Midwest filmmakers year round. The video above lists all the award winners for 2016, and be sure to keep an eye out on new films every Tuesday at Midwestfilm.com
PAPER FOREST A video screening on Swale October 22, 2016 7-10pm

I am screening a collection of my short films and speaking about them next Thursday, October 13th at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. More info in link- small admission fee, but I would love to see some familiar faces if you can make it!
The Chicago Park District and their Movies in the Parks program is bringing The Chicago Onscreen Local Film Showcase to the neighborhood parks this week to feature local Chicago filmmakers. Project 1612 and Backspace Collective are hosting their film festival this Saturday in Peoria, IL. They will show films from artists around the world including the UK, Canada, Russia, and France, and my three most recent films will be included in the lineup. Check it out if you are in central IL!
Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods is hosting their annual outdoor film festival and it looks super promising! Check out the article with info about some interesting films with a bit of a natural focus. Sounds like a really nice time if you can make it.
One of my favorite events is happening next Tuesday, August 2nd! Midwest Independent Film Festival is celebrating Midwestern women in film with their annual FEMALE FILMMAKERS NIGHT. “Yellow Gold” is having its Chicago Premiere there, and the festival has an amazing lineup and contains even more films than it did last year. I am super excited for this evening and hope that you can attend. See more of the lineup here: http://www.midwestfilm.com/pages/female_filmmakers_night_2016/796.php

Excited that another INNER NATURE Exhibition is taking place, this time at the Jardin Botanique de Marnay sur Seine in France. From their website: "This place is mainly aimed at environmental education and the initiation into natural sciences, also sensitizing those towards environmental issues. Being a recognized Botanical Garden of France, it also contributes towards scientific research and conservation." The gardens also host an artist residency, and I am thrilled for INNER NATURE to be showing there.
Hey Chicago- "Power(less)" will play preceding "Moonstruck" in MILLENNIUM PARK on Tuesday, July 19th! Starts at 6:30, and is part of DCASE's Chicago Made Shorts Series where they showcase locally produced films prior to their Summer Films in Millennium Park. I hope to see your faces there!
Slate Arts and Performance Gallery
Slate Arts and Performance Gallery has an opening this Saturday, July 16th for their second show, NATURE. My three most recent pieces will be on view with other artists’ works, and the opening will feature three performances throughout the evening. The gallery is new, and is an artist run community oriented space focused on New Media Arts and Performance, a welcome addition to the Chicago arts scene! Stop by if you can.
Notre Dame has a Summer Scholars program, and I had the pleasure of guest lecturing to the photography class taught by @jaysonbimber. Additionally, I guided the students as they made a collaborative “exquisite corpse” style stop motion animation. Experimental in nature and a way to put photographs into motion, here is an excerpt from our adventures that day.
