Sequence highlights Eva Unit 1’s reactivation and berserk attack on Sachie
l#2_C261 Unit 1 readies itself for bounding leap towards the angel, after reactivation.
#2_C264Unit 1 collides with Sachiel after bounding flip, proceeding to seize the Angel, before breaking away. The sequence lacks many of the in-between and secondary animations playing in tandem (ex. debris, flailing umbilical cable, sparking sfx) which help the scene convey the sense, of weight transference, and the two giants struggling against one another.

Heyo, your beautiful 1-person-choir covers have inspired me to maybe try something like this myself and I was wondering whether you'd be willing to share some of your... methods? The environment you record in, how you organize and keep track (hah) of all those different tracks, whether you plan out the harmonies beforehand or just go ahead by ear, what your post-processing looks like, this sorta thing? Because I'm a bit intimidated by the scope of such a project and you have some experience óvo;
Oh sure! It’s easy once you know where to start!As for environment, if I want really good quality I sit under a blanket like so:
(This is to prevent echo and worsen the quality of the recording for you guys who’s like what the fuck girl)Otherwise I just sit in my bedroom, it’s pretty non-echo-y and works fine if I wanna do many voices.
Around 10 tracks is the bare minimum in my opinion. That gives a little effort but a rather full choir. In my latest one (”Warriors”) I used 10 tracks for each harmony, plus some harmony on that harmony pff - it’s for the full-sounding effect! And in the end it resulted in quite many tracks so win win win!
So once I’m done recording those 10 tracks (maybe I split it so 5 of those are harmony and 5 are main vocals) I save it and compress it into one mp3 file so I can move it freely and fit it wherever I want.
This is many voices, so be careful so that your sound doesn’t start screeching (like if you scream really loudly and it can’t take it so it goes all white noise on you)Lower the volume enough on each track so that doesn’t happen. It’ll do loads!
So eh yes, to summarize that; record in strategic parts.
Choosing what song you wanna do is tricky, because you wanna find one that’s not too hard to do, but that also sounds good. So it’s after you’ve chosen a song you can start planning your choruses. So far, I’ve done it in some different ways:
Listened to the music and mimicked the different tones of the instruments
Interpreted an already existing song without music
Added choir to a song with main vocals
Completely choir-ized a song with music
Just flat-out very much choir the whole thing is a choir
Freestyled a simple song with additional beat
Since I can’t read sheet music I go by ear, and I experiment A LOT. I improvise A LOT. So don’t be afraid to do that! Sometimes it’s nah, and sometimes it turns out awesome.
WIDTH! Withdt witdth - To get width in your recording, turn each and every track in the left and right speaker, gradually. (Track 1, left 90%, Track 2, right 90%, Track 3, left 70% etc) but listen carefully so it doesn’t weigh to much on just one ear!
Adding reverb/echo is a good way to make your choir sound fuller.
Here’s a sample of Homeland, where I had one main vocal but also focus on the choir. The main is in the left ear and the choir in the right so you can hear properly (no mastering was done on that one so it sounds very flat)And as you can probably hear I forget a lot what I’m really supposed to sing?? pff so in some parts I’m like wait where am I BUT THAT’S OKAY you can bullshit a lot as long as nothing major stands out and ruins it all. But try to make all your voices sound decent.
I edit my final product in Studio One I probably forget a lot now or miss out something you’re wondering about but just wing it, try out some songs and you’ll get the gist!

So you might be saying: Lion why a guide on drawing black people? Well young blood it’s because a lot of people cant…seem…to draw…black people..Amazing I know.
Racist (caricatures) portrayals of black people have been around forever, and to this day people can’t seem to draw black people like they are human. If your artwork resembles any of the above even remotely your artwork is racist and offensive. If you try to excuse that as a stylistic choice you’re not only a terrible artist, but racist too!!! Congrats.
Whitewashing is also a problem. A lot of people refuse to draw black features on canonly black characters. While this example isn’t colored, lightening the skin-tone of a character is also considered whitewashing. So lets start with features!
Now all black people have different noses thats a no-brainer, but black noses tend to have flatter bridges, and wider nostrils. Please stay from triangular anime noses and small button noses. Your drawings should not depict black people with abnormally large noses. (Especially if you do not draw other characters this way)
If you feel like the way you draw lips on black characters is offensive or resembles a caricature,it probably does and you should change it. ABSOLUTELY AVOID PLACING LIPS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE FACE.
Hair is so diverse! Please get used to drawing braids, locs,kinks and coils! If you can learn to draw ringlets and long waves you can learn how to draw black hairstyles.
Add clips! Learn how to draw baby-hairs and never be afraid to add color Pinterest and Google are free my dudes! Also try using square brushes for blocking in coils.

This feels like one of those pieces of advice that are so brilliant that as soon as you have read it, it feels blindingly obvious.
Super quick centaur/horse body tutorial!
You’ve asked me a lot for a centaur tutorial but I absolutely suck at doing stuff like that because I rely so much on my own eye measuring and I almost never do sketches like this, so bear with me. 1: The horse body!
I managed to break down the body into lots of triangles and lines and what have you, in a way that I find easy and accurate to use. This is the body of Dan, (an english full blood) but it’s really easy to alter between breeds! For example, I used this when doing the lineup, take two of the most altered ones:
2: Put some meat on it
Keep in mind that if you have no idea how to draw then you probably should just drop this because as you can see I’m skipping ahead assuming you know how to meat a stick figure, and also have a ground feeling of what a horse really should look like. But it’s starting to take shape, doesn’t it? The tip of the withers should be around the tip of the hip. 3: Legs and hooves
Make sure you don’t make the knees and hocks too defined (if you want to draw a full grown horse will say. It works on younger horses and foals though!) And also not like noodles. Watch out for making the hind legs too curved or too straight when standing properly.
You want your hooves to be balanced, keep that in mind! 4: Add the human body
You’ve got a nice red line there to keep track of the spine. Dan’s human part is slim and a bit smaller, which adds to his rather big but slender breed. Now of course I’m still assuming that you know how to draw humans as well. That’s what it’s about, draw loads of humans and loads of horses and mash them together in a way that you see fit!
I prefer to use colours that the actual breed can have, and to match their hair with their tail. A paint is a difference though, as it might have different pigments in skull and tail root. This has been a quick and confusing tutorial in which I also claim that I am in no way an expert on this, thank you good night

Here’s my rough animation for cyclops sequence from Castlevania. I got to storyboard this sequence as well, which was a first for me. Up until then I’d never had that level of control over anything I’d worked on in the animation industry.
Out of everything I did for season one, this is by far what I worked the hardest on. I’m glad I’m finally getting to show it.
