I was going to work on a fic but these comments on my previous post were calling to me
This tortured girlboss gamer bug queen and her just as tortured medieval attack dog have captivated me to no end
My ass did NOT want to draw her wings with the chair and the headphones hell no

Noelle's Ripley Moment
You know, I always see art and fics of Kris trying to protect Noelle, but barely ever the other way around. Where's the art where Noelle's standing up to the SOUL? Where's the fic where Noelle figures out that Kris is possessed and is PISSED that something's using her friend like a suit? Where's Noelle smartening up during Snowgrave and realizing "Wait, Kris would NEVER do this. Who are you!?" Where's Noelle wielding the Twisted Sword and facing the Soul down, saying something like "Get out of them, you DEMON!" I know that Noelle having trouble with speaking up and being bold is a key character trait, but it's also key to her character that she grows PAST this. Let *her* be the knight in shining armor and Kris be the fair enby-maiden in the tower once in a while!
post-draining deconstructionist meets pre-roaring fundamentalist
SPOILERS Ralsei and the Knight
SPOILERS! Okay so like if Dess really was in the Dark for all that time, then imagine if she came across Ralsei before the story starts. Like, if it's Ralsei as we know him, but Dess before the plot, imagine her coming across this goat boi who's been traumatized into having ZERO self-worth by getting a prophecy beamed into his head. Imagine Ralsei's reaction to a floating wendigo just popping up one day and following him around. Hell, imagine if it's a little Ralsei and he's so starved for attention and affection by this point that he just launches himself at her and grabs her shins and won't let go, and Dess is just floating there wondering what the hell she's supposed to do with a fluffy toddler and why he isn't screaming at the eldritch horror that just wandered into town.
Delta-Smash-That-Story
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS You know, it'd be wild if things were a little different in the story. Imagine if Kris was the older sibling. Imagine if the whole Dessriel thing WAS canon but now it's (Kess? Dris?), because who's gonna get along better with the town punk than the town human, who's their own brand of weird on top of all that? Imagine if, when Dess went missing, Kris went looking for her like the recklessly determined thing they are and found her. Or if they'd both fallen into the Dark, but Kris survived because of their SOUL while Dess was still changed. What if they saw what she'd become, the form she'd taken and the loss of being able to go to the Light World, and still loved her anyway? Imagine if, because of one little change, the Roaring Knight was never the Roaring Knight, despite almost everything being in place to become one. EXTRA; Imagine if, because of this one change, they were there when Ralsei came to be, and had to learn how to be teen parents to a sweet little goat boy that fate decides to traumatize by beaming prophecies into his head on a regular basis. Imagine if, years later, Kris' little brother fell into the Dark World with his bully and encountered their sibby, and their sibby's eldritch girlfriend, and their adopted goat son who looks unsettlingly like him. Imagine Kris and Dess' gobsmacked confusion at the sight of a Dark Fountain in the toy world when they both know damn well that Dess was playing Motari 1500 with their boi while Kris out getting hot chocolate for them (And three cups for themselves, Dess learned to always give Kris more money than was normally needed for takeout from the diner when they were Ralsei's age). Because if one was in Castle Town and the other was at the diner, then who the hell is opening fountains? It's Carol, you know it's Carol, I know it's Carol, it's Carol because damn can she not let go. Oh yeah, and imagine Kris looking at Susie entering the Dark World with Asriel and they just think "Angeldamn, sneaking that How to Draw Dragons book for him really did alter his brain chemistry."
Encouraging Krusie/Kriselle
You know, I see a lot of polycule and cuck stuff whenever i hit the tags. "Why ship just Krusie/Kriselle when you can ship Krusielle", "But if Krusie/Kriselle happens, then what about Susie/Noelle?" Okay but what if they're encouraging of it in fanart/fics? What if instead of a crush, Noelle just likes collecting weird friends and then she sees Kris and Susie getting getting all sweet (In their own weird way) and is like "Awwww, they're gonna make LITTLE weirdos!" "WHAT THE HELL, NOELLE?!" "We'll name the first one Pie Smasher." "DAMN IT, KRIS!" Or what if Susie sees Kris and Noelle having their whole childhood-friends-turned-yearning-strangers and is like "Yooooo, my favorite trope! Get 'er, Kris!" and is just the biggest wingman ever so that she can watch her live soap opera. What if the ships happened and Susie/Noelle are all for it instead of being outside in the rain looking through the window and seeing it happen. That's Asgore's spot, stop kicking him out of it.
HEYYYY TUMBLLR.....
so I did a thing.
Y'know how Tumblr and Ao3 got married? You know how it's a joke ship? Yeah so somehow my ADHD brain got so hyperfixated on it that somehow I made lore.
Basically, AO3 is known as archivist, but we'll call em AO3 for the sake of recognizability. AO3 was spawned in in this backrooms-like world that is his massive library of whatever-amount-of-books they said they had.
After they spawn in, they realize they have no memory of any past. The only thing they have is a bag and the orb of light that hangs above their head as a way to light up the area around them and see the fics. The orb of light isn't visible to other apps but others can see that light is emmited from the area surrounding AO3.
Anyways, enough about the light. The library is filled with "consumers" or "readers" but I think consumers sound scarier. We can call them readers when they acctually read.
When AO3 first comes across one of these "consumers" their first instinct is to protect themself by grabbing a book and threatening to hit the consumer.
However, instead of the consumer attacking AO3 like AO3 thought it would, AO3 discovers that the books-- or "fics" fascinate the consumers. The consumer, when faced with the fic, seemed to become much more docile.
Once the consumer comes in contact with the fic, the consumer turns into a more of a "character" which aligns with the fic. (Note: not any character from the fandom but just something that matches the fandoms world y'know what I mean? Like how people make personas yeah?)
How did AO3 know what the fic was about? Shhhh.... Don't question ao3. Maybe they mind read books.
Anywho, later, AO3 discovers that they were a bit off. In order to find keep the consumers/readers happy, he must find their fandoms fics and hand them some.
So, while doing this they're also on a search for an "everything fic" so they can keep themselves protected at all times, and keep the consumers satisfied until they find the right fic.
And yes.
They do find it.
Were pretending that exists for now because I don't know if it actually does. I don't think it does. But authors never fail to amaze me.
Anyways. When AO3 gets the hang of their job, they find that they enjoy doing it. They enjoy making these consumers-- no. readers-- happy. They enjoy making the readers happy.
And later on, after a long while, they stumble upon the edge of their library, and find that they can leave to other backrooms-like spaces. One being twitters.
Twitter though, in more current times, has been going through this-- corruption. It has AO3 and other apps concerned, and ready to distance themselves. But mostly, they miss who Twitter used to be, or atleast-- some of who they used to be.
Once AO3 enters, they stumble across someone already with Twitter. Someone... Familiar. Someone they feel like they know from somewhere, but they're not sure where...
Tumblr?
Here's my character designs for them btw :3
Okay that's all for today I will be posting more tho hopefully (if u guys like it) <3
LATE GAME SPOILERS Okay but Canvas Clea and Simon are so interesting because like, they were THE most powerful of the painted, touched directly by Clea who was said to be the ONLY one in her family who had the skill to paint over someone else's creations. What if there were consequences to putting that much Chroma in a Painted? What if giving Painted the abilities of a Painter had repercussions that no one was stupid enough to want to find out, but Clea was angry and hurt enough to enact? What if Simon and Clea woke up, and felt a presence in the Canvas, a Painter apart from Renoir and Aline? What if they hunt down that presence with the full intent to expel it, only to find a child tossed about the foster system like a toy in the bath? What if some part of C!Clea recognized that little girl, felt some pull that both made her want to reach out but broke her heart and filled it with fury all at the same time? What if Simon, who's so used to seeing the Painters as capricious gods, looks down and sees the little girl who whimpers at the sight of a hearth fire, and realizes that they're people too? What if C!Clea and SImon, piecing together that Alicia's life is just as turbulent and thrown about from one member of the family to another as it was in the Canvas, decides that enough is enough? What if, after so long, after so much experimenting and tweaking and research, after raising and guiding and loving Alicia now named Maelle, C!Clea and Simon are painted into reality, and the first thing they say is "You can't have our daughter."
Sonelise Because Sonic 3
Since S3 is out, I figured I could put this forth; Movieverse Sonelise idea! Sonic's got a crush on the pretty redhead who volunteers down at the library, something Knuckles and Tails pick at him endlessly for. Elise, on the other hand, is a little bewildered that one of the aliens living in her hometown is going sweet on her. What shocks her more is that she doesn't mind. Or Since the Knuckles show confirmed that our favorite Echidna has the Flames of Disaster, we can say that he had Iblis sealed in him, whether knowingly or not. Thus, Elise comes around and tells the Wachowskis that their eldest is a basically a jar for a demon, and that said demon's twin is going to try and get him out. Thus, the family sets off to try and deal with Iblis permanently, Sonic and Elise bonding along the way. (Last one's just a rough draft, could have Mephiles attack then Elise/Blaze/Silver steps in and helps them, either that's how Sonic and Elise meet or Silver/Blaze introduces her. Or maybe any other way, like I said, rough draft)
My Theory on Pachacamac and The Iblis Trigger
There is talk about how much they changed Pachacamac from a warmongering, power hungry tribal leader, to a goofy grandpa figure, but I think the truth of Pachacamac's nature might be somewhere between the two interpretations. Despite his friendliness, you can't forget he did lead a clan that wiped out the owls with a singleminded focus on capturing Sonic and reclaiming The Master Emerald. Pachacamac, now a ghost, has visited Knuckles to tell him he needs to expand his tribe. There are no other echidnas left, so he asks the sole survivor to take on an apprentice. "Show him our customs, teach him our traditions, and soon our tribe will grow once again."
There is no acceptance or acknowledgement of the fact that the clan's current situation is the result of a bloody feud and the destruction of an entire race besides their own. There is also, unsettlingly, no acknowledgement of Tails, Sonic, or The Wachowskis as members of Knuckles' clan.
While there are questionable elements to Pachacamac's approach, his motivations are at least understandable. Knuckles is a minority– the last of his tribe and the only surviving member of his species, so of course his old chief wants to see their traditions and culture preserved.
Things only get really weird when Pachacamac takes hold of Wade– Knuckles' apprentice and the soon-to-be new addition to their clan–and rewrites history. Rather than the tale of a lone owl that the echidnas hunted down in a quest for power, the story is instead of an entire flock of owls that were the aggressors, killing off Knuckles' tribe and burning down his village for no reason other than for the sake of the slaughter.
Similarly, Knuckles isn't described as a lost child left behind, but a fellow warrior who battled alongside his father until the bitter end.
So, knowing that Pachacamac's version of events is wrought with lies leads to one very serious question: What is the true story of Knuckles' battle with Iblis? If there's one thing we know about The Echidna Clan, it's that they are fixated on raw power. They're a warrior-focused society where the best fighter gets the highest honor and the most privileges. They were the ones who crafted The Master Emerald from the seven chaos emeralds. They were the ones who tracked down Sonic when he was a child with the intention of obtaining his power, before Long Claw wiped them out in her final struggle.
And who else do we know that was accidentally unleashed in a reckless pursuit of power?
Iblis, the raw power of the sun god Solaris. Iblis, who was sealed away within a child using the power of the chaos emeralds.
Now, there's no doubt that "The Flames of Disaster" in the SCU are very different from "The Flames of Disaster" in Sonic 06. In the movie universe the flames are merely a type of wieldable power rather than the name of an apocalyptic event. However... what better way to rewrite the fact that the echidna tribe nearly caused the end of the world and locked an immortal fire demon within an echidna child, than by pretending that The Flames of Disaster is just an inherent ability Knuckles unlocked through an epic battle?
What if "The Flames of Disaster" wasn't a power he obtained through a magnificent fight, but a power he survived after it was thrusted upon him by his elders? ... What if one of the many, many reasons reasons his father didn't let him join the fight was out of fear of what would happen if he cried?
My issue with princess elise is that she needs to be rescued several times, she seems to lack agency, her design is beautiful but its so out of place next to Sonic. If she was designed more cartoony like Sonic and was less helpless I believe the fandom would have taken a shine to her more
The helpless princess trope was pretty outdated by 2006.
I agree that the way she was utilized in the story could've been a lot better. The kidnapping was repetitive and wasn't a good look for her. But again, it wasn't an issue with her character, but the overall story. But still, it didn't affect my enjoyment of her character.
Elise didn't do stupid things to get kidnapped, and you see her develop more confidence and agency throughout the story. She even manages to escape twice, and a later capture only takes place because Eggman threatened to harm her people. She selflessly gave herself up, despite hating Eggman's guts, just to save them. I wouldn't call that "lacking agency".
I'm not going to say a character is bad just because they fall into the damsel trope (I also happen to be a Princess Peach fan as well) as long as that's not all their character is. A Sonic character doesn't have to be kicking butt and taking down robots in order for me to like them, and it's clear Elise isn't a fighter. She's more of a support character than anything, shown in her levels with Sonic.
Elise has a clear character that develops throughout the story and has a meaningful bond with Sonic. And in the end, she ends up saving him. Usually it's the hero who kisses the Princess back to life, but here it's reversed. And tbh this game doesn't get enough credit for that.
As for the artstyle contrast, it's very subjective. I don't mind it, in fact I like it. The realistic/Final Fantasy style kind of reminds me a bit of Kingdom Hearts, with Sora and the other humans standing next to Goofy and Donald. But I can understand why someone wouldn't like it and find it unappealing, and the game definitely could've benefited from a more cartoony or anime style so it could appeal to more people.
Looking back at the Sonic 06 cutscenes with Sonic and Elise, it hurts that it wasn't better written in some places.
I can see why they love eachother, and their bond is very cute. But I wish that their dialogue bounced off eachother more. It's a shame because I can see the vision, but I also don't blame people for thinking it's bland.
SonElise is a good ship, I just wish the dialogue was better in some areas to get a better sense of their chemistry. It's there, it's just the writing at times brings it down.
The final cutscene of Sonic's story in 06 is a good display of Sonic and Elise's chemistry. They bounce off eachother. They're cute and awkward.
I want more of this. I SEE THE VISION!
Listen, I don't even ship Sonelise, but in my opinion it's the most in-character portrayal of Sonic having romantic feelings for someone I've ever seen in official material.
I don't buy him as a particularly shy type, like Sega keeps insisting he is with Amy - that just feels like they're discrediting his apparent lack of interest in her. It has the same energy as being in elementary school and the whole class has just decided you have a crush on someone for no reason.
Now, I don't remember if Sonic was specifically a flirt in the archie comics, but he was definitely a lot more forward. He got with practically every female character at some point, for crying out loud. He never really felt like Sonic to me whenever romance came up.
But with Elise, his interest is a lot more subtle. The most forward he gets with her is a compliment on her smile, and a single wink. Other than that, he mostly just looks for opportunities to run with her or admire scenery together.
(You can't tell me this wasn't partially an excuse to hold her hand, okay)
And the most we get of him being "shy" is this singular gesture he makes while Elise is bandaging his arm, which was probably going to include a more bashful expression if the animators had time to finish it:
Also, can we appreciate that Sonic didn't kiss Elise when he was revived? Not just in a "Sonic characters shouldn't be kissing" way, either, although that's part of it. What I mean is that, narratively speaking, that would have been a classic moment to include a return kiss, but they didn't, because it wouldn't fit Sonic's character.
Instead, he catches her when she falls, and thanks her for saving him. It's sweet, and a lot more impactful than a kiss would've been.
Sonic in 06 wasn't in denial of his feelings, like he supposedly is with Amy. Nor was he especially flirtatious or forward about them. He simply grew to care about Elise a lot and showed it in his own, laid-back way, which is yet another example of this game doing something right that everyone overlooked.
