Has the merge already happened? Is there no way to recover old posts? I have just seen this post after trying to log on to the site and now I can't find any of the posts I have made. If I log in to the new site will my information be there?

The merge happened three months ago. CC’s server has been expired, too, so there is no way to recover posts.That being said, this was only a merge in the sense that we wanted to bring CC’s memberbase to WCA (we’ve created human RP and Hogwarts boards to accommodate that) where the community’s more active. It would’ve been impossible to actually merge the two sites together - one, no SMF to Jcink converter exists, and two, Jcink wouldn’t merge two databases together anyway. Therefore, the only information retained are the posts that members manually copied over to WCA.So if you haven’t already, you’ll need to register a new account on WCA and start anew. I’m sorry for the inconvenience this might cause!But ultimately I still think this was the right move, as WCA has certain features CC doesn’t (sub-accounts being the biggest one) and isn’t bugged. Plus it’s more active!

CritterCosmos and Warrior Cats a RPG (WCA)’s staff are currently discussing a merge. This is not guaranteed to happen yet, but it’s likely.

This means CritterCosmos’ RP boards will be restarted on WCA, and CritterCosmos itself will eventually be shut down. So if this goes through, you’ll need to save your posts before they’re gone.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please post in the discussion thread! We will address them to the best of our ability.

Any news on exactly what's going on with the site?? Now the domain's expired.

We’ve got a new URL, but I won’t be linking it yet since it’s not fully working - all links on the site redirect to the old .com address and, judging by the looks of the site at the moment, we’ll need to do some things with the theme. Once that’s all taken care of, though, I’ll be posting the new link so everyone can access the site again!

Sick of Tumblr blocking your posts in search because they have external links to your portfolio, patreon, twitter or whatever? Yeah me too.

But there’s a way around it!

FIRST > Edit / customise your theme (the desktop version, aka the actual HTML and CSS junk) Find this button:

Add your page like you would for other pages! Except on the drop down select “Redirect”!

The insert on the right is what will appear on the preview side on the right. Here I’ve put in my twitter! Fill it out and give the page URL something lowercase and easy to remember (like /twitter)

Post your stuff how you would normally. Unfortunately using the bottom left ‘source url’ button on the image as usual itself still gets censored (seriously fuck you Tumblr what the fuck).

Link your sites as you would normally EXCEPT we use the tumblr link (for me it’s the above!). If you use a domain name, you WILL need to use your tumblr URL rather than yourname.com/redirect ! This will link people to my twitter but still show up in /tagged/ and /search/

Your stuff will now should show up! This doesn’t seem to work for editing older posts but I haven’t tested that out fully.

ATTENTION ARTISTS: Need help calculating your commission prices?

A tool that I’ve found is really handy is a called the Cash Clock. It’s a simple program that measures both the time that you’re working on a piece as well as how much money you should be earning. You can adjust the hourly wage to whatever you feel is right. Simply start the clock whenever you begin working on a project right up until you’re finished. It can give you a clear indication of what you should charge for commissions.

No artist should make below minimum wage for their artwork.

LET ME TELL Y’ALL ABOUT THIS WRITING APP

Fighter’s Block is the best writing app I’ve come across in a long time.

You type in the amount of words you want to write and as you write, your mini lil avatar fights a monster. Each word you write acts a hit towards your monster, and once you’ve hit your word count the monster is defeated!!!

How cute!!!!

Work quick though as how long you spent not writing decreases your avatar’s health. It’s a productive fight to the death against the clock!

Best things about this app:

You can PAUSE it!!!! Need go get a cup of tea? Need to sneeze? You can!!!!!

Settings are adjustable! You can change the monster’s speed and the attacks!

You can change the theme and font!

You can level up!!!!! The number of words you write equals your EXP. You can unlock one avatar thus far, but I believe there may be more in the future!

You can minimise the fight above if it serves as a distraction, and only show the decreasing green bar.

Best of all: If you don’t hit the target word count in time, YOUR WORK DOES NOT DISAPPEAR. In the past I’ve lost so much work because I wasn’t typing fast enough, or sneezed.I cannot express enough how thankful I am that it presents a challenge where the consequence is a knock of pride and not a fit of rage.

Honestly, I urge all writers out there to give this app a go. It’s my new favourite thing.

CamScanner: a must have for traditional artists!

hello! I recently found this rad app called “CamScanner”, a mobile app for android and iOS

what does this app do? well, basically it imitates a scanner, so even if you don’t have one, you can take real cool pictures of your drawings!

for this to work, i suggest you take a picture of your entire paper / sketchbook / etc. The app will automatically crop your picture and come out with something like this:

(sometimes it wont be too accurate, but that can be easily fixed by moving the frame yourself)

once scanned, the app will make it so your drawing looks like this:

(the app will have some presets, so you might want to mess around with those. OR you can mess with the settings yourself to get a look you desire)

this can be really helpful if you plan to color your traditional piece on a computer, or something similar.

this can even work with colored drawing, if you’d like!

if you mess with the settings yourself, i bet you could get the picture to look better, as i did this with the presets.

I can’t stress you enough about how important these exercises are for your drawing hand. You don’t wanna get CTS of Tendonitis and similar stuff that will prevent you from making art or even hold  a pencil.

Okay, this guy is my HERO. I just did these exercises as I watched the video, and already my arms and hands feel better. I have a degenerative tendon disease that prevents my muscles, tendons and ligaments from retaining their elasticity, and so anything that maintains the health of my bendy parts is important.

I URGE YOU. Even if you don’t draw, do these several times a day. Even just sitting at a computer can do serious damage. My dad, who was a rugby player, a carpenter, and now a handyman, suffered from severe carpal tunnel syndrome, simply as a result of sitting at the computer at the end of the day to play a little solitaire. Don’t let it happen to you!

Wow, these are REALLY helpful. And yes, this is not just good but IMPORTANT for more than artists — if you type a lot, play a lot of video games, do anything that requires lots of repetitive movements of your hands, wrists, and arms (gardening, sewing, factory work), these can help. Even if you don’t yet get pain these are a great preventative measure, because the damage builds up over time. Youth is no protection.

And like he says, you should feel a stretch, but don’t push it too far!

i feel bad for people who use sai but dont know about stabilizer, transparent brushes and clipping groups

i personally prefer to use S-4 for default drawing and S-7 when i need to draw really long smooth lines. this is what it does:

when you enable it, you can use your currently selected brush as eraser. this is what it does:

this is where you find clipping group:

you have to have at least two layers, the base layer and the one for the colors. when you draw on the layer with little red bar on side, the stuff you put on the layer appears only on top of the things you have on the base layer. the effect is p much same as preserving opacity except you dont change anything about the base layer and you can still use layer textures and effects. this is what it does:
