Product manager claims that XSS is a feature

It’s that time of year again! NPR’s All Songs Considered is headed on another musical trek to Austin for this year’s South By Southwest festival. Before hitting the road they listened to songs from more than a thousand bands scheduled to play the festival, in search of some great new discoveries. On this edition of the show hosts Bob Boilen and Robin Hilton, NPR Music editor Stephen Thompson and NPR Music critic Ann Powers come together to share some of what they found, and talk about the bands they’re most excited to see.
For more coverage of the festival, head over to our SXSW hub, which includes the live broadcast schedule for our showcase with Nick Cave and Yeah Yeah Yeahs and the SXSW keynote with Dave Grohl. And don’t forget to download the complete Austin 100 mix of what we can’t wait to discover on stage this year. You can also follow our coverage via @nprmusic.

Jazz Gillum - My Big Money (by laceup1967)
Working as a DJ at his local radio station in Monroe, Mich., NPR’s Don Gonyea snagged the interview of a lifetime when his musical idol Johnny Cash stopped to answer questions before taking the stage at the Monroe County Fair in 1981.
Decades later, hear the unexpected interview on today’s Weekend Edition.
Nina Simone would have turned 80 years old today. Born Eunice Kathleen Waymon in Tryon, N.C., she changed her name to Nina Simone (“Nina” meaning “little one” and “Simone” after the actress Simone Signoret) after she began singing in bars early in her career, something her Methodist minister mother none too subtly referred to as “working in the fires of hell.” This photo I am sharing today is my favorite of Ms. Simone, a stunning shot by Pittsburgh photography icon Charles “Teenie” Harris, circa 1965.
