@crockersbian
is there any chance of homestuck LINE stickers?
i actually sketched a few as kind of a joke, but then the team was like "wow you should really do these" but they're not actually very good. i wanted to try cleaning them up a bit, but then other things sort of took priority. here are some of the sketches.
merry yurimas everybody
(the humour is roxy in sad old man drag and Dirk wearing like.... literally the same exact kinda shit he already does)
roxy and dirk not-couples cosplaying kishibe and quanxi
actually scratch that
dirkjake couples cosplay qua??????????nxi & rezzzzzzzzeze (misspelled bc like. i'm NOT contaminating the chain sawed manhattan's tag with homestuck shit)
just saw someone call jane/calliope/roxy a crackship ??>#?@%????
Family guy death pose Vriska….?
is this my legacy?
honestly homestuck HAD so many kinda dogshit relationships in it that i don't really blame people for seeing the mutually-assured destruction going on with Vriska and Terezi and jumping to conclusions but like. dude they were only relationshipping before the cycle of violence began or after it was finished canonicity-wise.
AO3 Femslash Top 100: Finals!
Terezi Pyrope/Vriska Serket (Homestuck) vs Pamela “Poison Ivy” Isley/Harleen “Harley Quinn” Quinzel (DC)
Terezi/Vriska (Homestuck)
Ivy/Harley (DC)
#ah yeah so vrisrezi is abusive and ive only ever seen ivy/harley being cute so...
can we really not have higher ambitions than just "being cute"? must we reduce ourselves to being taggable and rebloggable to only the most braindead of yuri enjoyers? is it not enough for women to love each other, must they also have Wholesome Moments that you can sell to the lowest common denominator? grow up, vote vrisrezi
vrisrezi isn't fucking abusive and people who say it is probably jump to callouts every time they lose a friend
> looking for homestuck analysis posts > ask the homestuck bloggers if their posts are decoding or interpretation > they dont understand > pull out illustrated diagram explaining what is decoding and what is interpreting > they laugh and say "it's good meta, ma'am" > look inside > it's decoding
for the record, "decoding" is a pretty bunk form of interpretation that relies on false premises (ie, "X is about Y" being a decision made sight unseen, the idea that the beats of the story are Code) and you see this most directly with people who are prone to conspiracy theories - nothing is what it seems on the surface, but it leaks out into literary analysis when you fail to understand the idea of what a symbol is.
this approach is most evidently seen in stuff like the "decoding symbols" approach to homestuck i read recently, which is a qanon-focused reading of homestuck (yeah, that's real, fuck it, why not)
if you're not familiar with qanon, one of their many premises is that mass media is a means to disseminate the conspiracies - they speak in code so that those who are not in on the code may not notice the message at all, but those who do can take coded instructions from it on how to like, i dunno, steal babies and do blood libel or whatever it is qanon guys believe now
this is obviously bullshit, but that decoding idea - that all things are encoded, that nothing is what it is - is super prevalent in a lot of homestuck "analysis" posts when it's actually, analysis's opposite. the difference between interpretation and decoding is that you go in with the mindset of thinking there is a hidden meaning you want to find in the text. you want this end result to be true, so anything that could stand in its way becomes mutable
and since your results are obviously horseshit, you continue justifying it and building up infinite false premises that stack atop each other forever until you're not even really talking about the same story. you've built a second story in your head that uses the same pages but you've decided none of that actually refers to itself, just its coded meanings
this is especially easy to do with homestuck because homestuck does repeat itself incessantly, its easy to do a read of homestuck where you zero in on one idea, see how it iterates on itself, and come away with a better understanding of the text, because homestuck loves to do that to itself, too, but it gives you absolute tunnel vision. once you start needing to ask people to take premises as granted, you run the real risk of making up a second homestuck that youre just wrong about forever, and a lot of homestuck "analysts" do this
roxy must be sooooooo jealous that dirk can shoot lightning out his hands wizard style
