#what really gets me about this scene is that there are two separate things going on with Bog at the same time here #a. he is absolutely flabbergasted that someone did something nice for him #someone put effort into making this stupid little flower thing because they liked him #and then she tells bog #mr. I’m-too-hideous-to-be-loved #that he looks good with it on #and this loser is so damned confused because i’ll bet no one (besides his mother) has ever shown that much interest in him like ever #and maybe it’s not real interest or even compliments #but it obviously affects his self esteem enough to want to keep wearing the silly boutineer when he could have easily crushed it #because this little princess thought he was worth her effort #and #b. when he sees dawn smiling at him eagerly that’s the point he changes #after that he never yells at her again he pats her hand he says please when he asks her things he speaks to her gently #he goes out of his way to be nice #and you know why? #(well probably because that’s the only way to get her to stop singing but i digress) #because he’s probably reminded of a certain little lovesick prince #who knows what it feels like to have your hope for returned affection dashed and your feelings hurt when the one you ‘love’ rejects you #and the big softie WANTS to be spiteful and angry and bitter #but he can’t bring himself to be that person for Dawn because he knows how it’ll crush her (spell not withstanding) #it’s just…dawn is really important in the bog king’s whole character development arc and i need every one to know that
