No. I'm not back. But i wanted to gush.
I drove 3 and a half hours to go see my girlfriend today. She took me to see my puppy (who's got to stay with her mommy for a while longer) and some pretty amazing sights up in some of the Boston and Ozark mountains. It was the little things that made it fun.
And now my favorite shirt smells like my favorite person 😍

Alright, that did it. Any little bit of resolve she’d had left in her completely CRUMBLED. She couldn’t stand this. Could not stand it at all. Couldn’t stand HERSELF for even going this far & stressing BOTH of them beyond belief. She’d thought that just because she’d killed her own FATHER in cold blood that she’d be able to do Percy in the same way. Theo had been wrong. So very, very WRONG. And now she completely hated herself for it & wanted to stick that hatchet into her own neck just to make the GUILT go away. Guilt, guilt, STUPID GUILT. She wanted to will it all away and never feel anything like it EVER AGAIN.
Looking up at him, her palm opened & the weapon that had been in her hand fell to the ground between them with a startling CLATTER. She didn’t know what to say, what to DO to even begin to make this up to him. She felt even MORE horrible now, staring at him with her jaw slack like some sort of dumb FOOL. He’d poured his heart out to her and she couldn’t even say anything back. What kind of SORRY EXCUSE for a person was she? Clearing her throat, she hesitantly took a small step closer to him before wrapping her arms around his waist & EMBRACING him (to the best of her ability since she was so much goddamn SHORTER than him), “ I’m so sorry, Percy… ” She whispered against his chest, head turned to listen to his heartbeat. It was then that she realized, she NEVER WANTED IT TO STOP.
he stroked her hair and cradled her to his chest, heart still pounding rapidly from the adrenaline and terror. she had almost killed him. she'd wanted him dead. his mouth felt bitter and full of bile and acid and he knew that he’d cut it close, barely caught a break. she could have killed him so easily... he would never have put it past her.
❝shh... don’t be sorry.❞ he cooed. ❝don’t be sorry... anyone would have done it if they’d known... but i’ve never let him hurt you... ever. if he even tried, i would...❞ what? he couldn’t kill a voice in his head. he couldn’t even block it out unless he was drunk or high. oh... high. that sounded nice.
❝c’mon. let’s go home... we can toke up there.❞ he pulled her gently toward the house, his hand threaded with hers. he found that he liked his hand holding hers. she was small and warm when she wasn’t... bloodthirsty.

Evelyn nods, already knowing before having to be told. Sometimes it’s strange to know that Penny lurks behind Percy’s face; Percy is so sweet, so gentle. Even looking at his worried face now, she almost forgets about the little beastie inside of her belly. “Well, even if Penny’s the one that technically changed your bits, it’s still your DNA.” She answers smoothly, “So the babies yours. Congrats, you’re gonna be a dad.” That sounds like the truth - even as she’s lying, it makes sense, doesn’t it?
❝really? he really said that?❞ for a moment, Percy sat there, processing it. a father. he was going to be a father. he’d never expected that this would happen--never in a million years. but here was his proof. two positive pregnancy tests. ❝... god, okay. we have a lot to do. it’s only nine months, right? i need to clean out the spare room and we need a crib and... stuff... god. ❞
he reached shakily for the phone but put it back down. mom didn’t need to know yet. she’d have more questions than he could even imagine. ❝... so what now?...❞
