Itâs easy for him to bump into her, the 'lanky half werewolfâ ( thanks, Skeeter ) that Teddy is, in comparison to Rose, who barely stands at five foot. Teddyâs always got his chin up, eyes roaming and distracted, so when he feels a solid thump! to his chest, he has to look down. âSorry about that â Oh. Hey, Rose. You doing all right?â
rose was tiny, though it seemed they werenât the shortest person at the castle, which was alright with them. but it didnât help that most people didnât look where they were going. rose wanted to get their books and go back to doing their work. they looked up at teddy and tried to hide the annoyance on their face. â iâm... okay. how are you? âÂ
i know, i know. this is super late. but hereâs my intro on rose. theyâre a sweet, small child and iâll probably break them, but whatever. please donât be mean to them. roseâs family stuff is a bit blank until hugo is taken. any of the wotter clan come at me for plots with rose !! triggers: depression
rose is one of those people that really likes their family. in fact, thatâs why rose does everything that they do. rose always grew up with a book in their hand. stories were a great import in roseâs world because rose wanted to know all of them.Â
from a young age, rose learned to read and academically excelled even at a young age. their tutor used to say that they were gifted. however, rose was shy and preferred not to talk to people, instead hiding behind a book, though their family was always really important to them.
they werenât very old when the topic of gender came up in a book and rose quickly felt drawn to that sort of discussion. rose felt more comfortable not being thought of as a girl, so they preferred to use gender neutral pronouns. at first rose was very scared to tell their family, but the news wasnât that badly taken by their parents.
it was always evident that rose was magical, and would go off to hogwarts like their parents. rose was excited -- reading every book on magical theory and hogwrts that they could get their hands on in order to be prepared. it was their way of being ready for school.Â
when roseâs letter came, they were really excited to go off to school. their parents had left a big mark on the school and they became worried that they wouldnât be as great as their parents. rose began to fall into a depressive state, though not many of their peers knew because rose spent more time with a book in their hand than with other people -- not that rose couldnât be social, they just didnât like it.Â
rose loves their family more than anything and would do anything for them, including being in situations that are uncomfortable. ( rose doesnât like to be outside their comfort zone or routine at all )Â
personality wise, rose is nothing like their parents. they are socially inept and prefer to just be around one or two people. any more and they feel uncomfortable. rose walks with their head down and doesnât really make eye contact with others. they are terrible at standing up for themself. they are a huge target for bullies, which is obvious to those that spend any time around them. rose would stand up for themself only in a dire situation. one of those situations being gender equality.Â

âNo â tell me,â Anita demanded, turning on the girl now with her eyes narrowed. Her hand slipped into her pockets with half a mind to take out her wand â she had not thing to lose, even if they were in front of all of the faculty in the ballroom. âWhy are you so special?â
rose didnât think they were special at all. they didnât want special treatment, they just wanted respect from others. sometimes the world didnât seem as nice as it used to be. or maybe rose was just too soft. that was probably the correct answer. â iâm not special. âÂ
Roxanne grinned, pleased to find that the person she had accidentally spouted her burning questions to had been none other than Rose. While mingling had been exciting thus far, even the party animal herself was getting exhausted by all the unfamiliar faces and pressure to keep up appearances. Thank Merlin was right.
âUgh, thatâs so manyââ Roxanne lowered her forehead to the table with a dramatic groan. âI need a drink, or to transfer to a school thatâs updated curriculum within the last century.â The brunette lifted her head, holding her cheek in her palm so she could glance at her cousin. âAnyway, how have you been making out, babes?â
even if roxanne was nothing like rose, it was still good to see a face that they knew among the other students. rose was friendly and nice to everyone, but social situations werenât really the type of thing that they did often. in fact, at all. rose stayed far away from parties. it was odd that they came from two gryffindor parents, when rose was not as brave as either of their parents.Â
â nah. itâs not. i mean if you wanted, i could go through all the different charms that i can currently see. um, â rose looked around and noted some of the major ones that they saw. of course this wasnât actually something that they knew others even cared about. â iâm kidding! â they exclaimed. â um, okay, i guess. i just... thereâs a lot of people. not quite sure why i decided to come. â rose would be more comfortable in a few days once they settled into a new routine.Â
âWhy? Do I look like a map?â Anita snapped. She turned on the person asking stupid questions; Anita had enough of everyone today, and continued on her tirade. âLook. Everyone needs sleep. I donât understand why youâre so special.â
â iâm not... i just... do you know anyone that might know their way around? because i just... iâm... â rose didnât know what to say. they were really uncomfortable in this sort of situation and it just seemed easier not to confront a person if they were being rude. â sorry. iâll just... i can find someone myself. âÂ
âOh, donât even apologize! It was entirely my fault. Iâm just really excited. Itâs kind of spectacular, donât you think? What I wouldnât give to be on the top of the tower looking down on everything else.â She smiled brightly and stuck a hand out between them. âIâm Delilah, but everyone just calls me Del. You?â
â but i was in your way, â rose said before they could stop themself. honestly neither of them were to blame. the place was really crowded. rose was uncomfortable with the amount of people, but it wasnât too bad. they were trying to be friendly to all the other students. â ah, neither of us are probably actually to blame. thereâs a lot of people here and we were both bound to run into someone at some point. â they laughed. rose took her hand. â iâm rose! âÂ
rose struggled with social situations. they felt much more comfortable with a book in their hand than in a ballroom filled with people. there were probably a lot of students that felt that way because it seemed that the room was starting to thin. rose was only still there because they didnât really know where to go. rose missed home already, but they also really were excited about the competition, even if they werenât sure if they wanted to compete or not. â hello, â rose said to someone standing near them. â sorry, but do you know the way out of here. i could use some sleep. â
Del could hardly wait until she was free to explore and see how high up she could get on this campus. She should find Ezra and make sure he came along to. For now, she traveled from table to table to meet the other students. She was laughing and giving a salute to some of the UIM students when she spun around and bumped into someone else. âSorry! You alright? I didnât even look where I was going!â
rose really wished that they could find someone familiar in the crowd of students. it would be easy to slip into a more familiar setting rather than a school they were unfamiliar with. but the idea of the competition was to make friends. rose would struggle with that, even if they were a friendly person. they felt someone bump into them and jumped a bit. â yeah, â rose muttered. â yes. iâm okay. sorry. âÂ
Scorpius was known for being social around his house mates; of course, when a Malfoy enters Slytherin, theyâre immediately going to be popular amongst the group. But, in a setting where tons of people from tons of different places were gathered together, Scorpius felt a bit vulnerable. He didnât have any close friends to tag along with, so he wasâŠalone. While he walked around, he hoped no one would recognize him as the descendent of Death Eaters, something he never wanted to be remembered by. Upon entering the bigger hall, Scorpius got a bit anxiety ridden. He quickly turned around and walked down a skinny hallway, trying to find a room he could relax in for a bit. While doing so, he thought he felt someone watching him. Not wanting to cause a scene, he slowly walked forward, as socializing wasnât his strong point right now.
rose came for travelling and because they were interested in how the other schools conducted their classes. though theyâd only get a small taste of the other schools, it was still more than theyâd ever get. rose was excited, yet nervous about what would happen. they found it easier to talk to students that they went to school with, despite the competition supposed to be about bringing people together. it wouldnât be impossible for rose to talk to other people, just very, very draining. any familiar face, rose ended up gravitating towards. it just didnât seem like the people from hogwarts really wanted to talk to them. and not only that, but they saw a lot of the weasley-potter clan a lot. rose exited the ballroom, looking for somewhere where they could just be on their own and relax for a bit, but then they saw a familiar face.Â
The brunette fiddled with the bracelet at her wrist, holding it up close to her face to inspect the runic object carefully. Throughout her studies in ancient runes, brief as they may had been thus far, she had never come across anything like it. She had come across quills with spellchecking magic, but a translating quill or anything of the sort seemed out of the question given the complexity and layers of charms that would have to go into producing such a device.
âHow many charms do you think it takes to make one of these things function?â
rose felt out of place at a school like this. there were probably a lot of students that also felt the same way that they were feeling, but it was one of those times when rose felt like they were alone. probably because they hadnât seen a familiar face in quite some time. rose stayed in the corner of the ballroom as they watched the students all connecting with each other and talking and chatting and having fun. rose was here because it was a great opportunity. and a chance to travel that they might never have again.Â
â oh thank merlin, â rose muttered, seeing that the voice was coming from roxanne. â hmm. well, not including the charms the school had in place already, probably about twenty or so. âÂ
