In the mid-1960s, the restless trumpeter Miles Davis was considering introducing electric instruments into his band. Knowing that his former saxophonist and friend Cannonball Adderley was performing one night in Mexico City with his band, and that the band’s pianist, Joe Zawinul, would be playing an electric keyboard, he flew from New York to Mexico, with the sole intention of seeing how this musical experiment would turn out. Unfortunately, there was a city-wide power cut that night and Zawinul had to play the acoustic piano instead. Miles protested, as Zawinul recounts: “Hey mate, I came all the way here all showered and smelling nice, and this bloody piano doesn’t work.”

El inquieto trompetista Miles Davis, a mediados de los años sesenta, valoraba la introducción de instrumentos eléctricos en su conjunto. Sabiendo que su antiguo saxofonista y amigo Cannonball Adderley, actuaba una noche en Ciudad de México con su grupo y que el pianista del mismo, Joe Zawinul, tocaría un teclado eléctrico, coge el avión de Nueva York a México, con la única idea de comprobar el resultado del experimento musical, con tan mala fortuna que esa noche hay un apagón en toda la ciudad y Zawinul tiene que tocar el piano acústico. Miles protestó, cuenta Zawinul: "Oye amigo, me vine para aquí bañado y perfumado y el maldito piano no funciona''.

Il irrequieto trombettista Miles Davis, a metà degli anni Sessanta, valutava l’introduzione di strumenti elettrici nel suo gruppo. Sapendo che il suo ex sassofonista e amico Cannonball Adderley si sarebbe esibito una sera a Città del Messico con il suo gruppo e che il pianista della band, Joe Zawinul, avrebbe suonato una tastiera elettrica, prese l’aereo da New York per il Messico con l’unico intento di verificare il risultato di quell’esperimento musicale, ma con tale sfortuna che quella sera ci fu un blackout in tutta la città e Zawinul dovette suonare il pianoforte acustico. Miles protestò, racconta Zawinul: «Ehi, amico, sono venuto fin qui tutto pulito e profumato e questo maledetto pianoforte non funziona».
