The rarity of Nick being in a state means he is more likely to slip out with his emotions, his feelings, but currently he’s just frowning. There’s so little he understands about Aaron, even if he’s tried for so long to know this man. He’ll never really understand why things turn out like this though. He no longer wants a parent, all he really wants is a friend to help him be happy.

“None of the ways I cope are ways to cope, but I still do it. And you’re not much better, so I don’t get why it’s bad. Why are my coping mechanisms bad and yours aren’t?” Normally, he would’ve sounded angry, but right now, he’s lost. The statement confuses him rather than bringing him to that anger. “Please...I don’t want a dad anymore, you and Itzal hurt me enough that I don’t really think I’ll ever want a father again. If it wasn’t for us being wanted by everyone under the sun, I would’ve run away when I was little. I think I deleted it...but I still remember it, so it still hurts. Do I have to put it down? Are you going to make me stop again?” He remembers making that joke when he was little. Getting so scared of Aaron that he almost died on the spot, one of the few memories of Aaron trying with him. If only there were more of those to balance him.

“Nah, not him, just me.” There he is, looking like shit as Aaron moves that arm around him. It isn’t like when he was still a shadow, now his body reacts to alcohol properly. Now, he’s struggling to stand as his father tries to get him to bed. “Why can’t we be friends? Years of shitty childhood as a son and I don’t wanna be a son, I just want a friend. My boyfriend broke up with me and I wanted a drink, I don’t wanna put it down, I wanna drink, delete his number, and drink until I don’t remember it or his name. No, no sleep. Sleep is worse than breaking up.”

He can barely make out a word he’s saying, feeling awkward just standing here doing nothing. He’s also feeling anxious about not doing anything since he’s used to always being on the go in his world. He doesn’t understand why he feels hostile towards him. He didn’t do anything or say anything to him. Does he have to prepare himself in case they get into a brawl?

“Okay?” he responds. “Wait, lick your wounds? You don’t have a healing potion on you to help you?”

The wolf is normally quiet, so it makes sense that the other has trouble hearing him. Soft spoken and short fused, Nick’s a bad combination. But his eyes find a way to look at the other. Even with his angry expression, there’s a sadness in those eyes. Something he will refuse to acknowledge, as that sadness has been there for years. He just tries not to roll his eyes at the awkwardness.

“I don’t use healing potions because I’m not a playable character. I heal over time and gain ugly scars.” He feels hate in his heart, of course his father would take someone like the other under his wing. “You’re here to work at the bar, right? Then you need to do your fuckin’ job-”

I’m not a kind soul, and I know that well, but the world is always pissed off with me and I fight it back.” He growls at the other for even looking in his direction. He’s beyond irritated that people try to get closer to him, and he hates it often.
