Akihabara's Kanda Myojin Shrine isn't the only Shinto location attracting otaku visitors looking to make their New Year's prayer wishes. Since 2007, Saitama's Washinomiya Shrine has turned the fact that Lucky Star had made them a magnet for cosplayers into an opportunity. This New Year's, shrine at which the series' Hiiragi sisters served as miko welcomed visting fans for a chance to keep warm with character goods, selling glove and neck warmers in addition to bowls and buttons.

Next week's issue will also start a "Jump Back" reprinting of Rosario + Vampire

In November Shueisha launched a nine story festival of one-shot manga by NisiOisiN (Monogatari) running through their Jump family of magazines as well as the shojo Margaret. The second of these was "heaven" themed RKD-EK9, illustrated by Takeshi Obata (Death Note), initially published in the December issue of Jump Square, out November 4th and later included in the English edition last month.

The third, "animal" themed "What Keeps You Killing," illustrated by Akihisa Ikeda (Rosario + Vampire) and also originally published in the December issue of Jump Square, will be featured in next week's January 12th issue of the English Shonen Jump. The issue will also start a "Jump Back" reprinting of Rosario + Vampire.

This week's issue of the digital manga magazine features a special preview chapter of Assassination Classroom.

As reported, one of the largest Japanese convenience store chain Lawson will launch a new collaboration campaignwith The New Prince of Tennis anime series featuring its popular character Keigo Atobe tomorrow on January 6. During the campaign period till February 2, the voice actor for Atobe, Junichi Suwabe will narrate an in-store CM to be broadcasted at the stores eight times a day.

January 6 has been considered as “Atobe Kingdom National Foundation Day” among the TeniPuri fans. Atobe Kingdom is Atobe’s signature technique. Its first use was in the February 2011 issue of Shueisha’s Jump Square magazine, which was published on January 6, 2011. Since then, January 6 has become a very important day for his fans.

At least Jibanyan and Whisper's names won't be changed

The mega-hit franchise's first feature film Yo-Kai Watch: Tanjyo no Himitsuda-Nyan! (The secret of the invention) is finally released in Japan today on December 20. At the premiere event, LEVEL-5 president and CEO, Akihiro Hino revealed that the TV anime will be soon aired worldwide, including the U.S. and Europe.

He also confirmed that Jibanyan and Whisper's names will stay the same, while other yokais' will be changed. It's the same case with Pikachu in the Pocket Monster/Pokémon series, who is keeping its original name in the international versions. Hino then asked Etsuko Kozakura (voice actress for Jibanyan) and Tomokazu Seki (Whisper) to learn English for the expected international expansion of the Yokai boom.

The travel-themed film has sold over 1.06 million advance tickets at theaters across Japan, and its estimated total including all other ticket sales windows is about 2 million. According to distributor Toho, the film is expected to finish its run with around 6 billion yen, or if more suuccessful, very close to the top-grossing One Piece film, One Piece Film Z's 6.87 billion yen in 2012. Toho has already decided to produce the second anime feature film for the next winter.

Fanart Friday returns, and you have no idea how nice it is to not hear Christmas music every day at work. I sympathize with you, retail employees, you lose your holiday cheer real quick that way. Last week, we gave Middle-earth one last hurrah, but this week we're celebrating Christmas' favorite celebrity, SANTA CLAUS!

You all know the song and dance: Santa travels the world at 650 miles per second delivering presents to all the good little boys and girls on Christmas Eve, and devouring enough milk and cookies to make a man explode. Shiori Mikami, Rumi Ohkubo, Mikako Komatsu join the cast

So this is why voice actress Asuka Nishi didn't call it "the third season" in the September event. It was officially revealed today that the upcoming sequel of the Tesagure! Bukatsu-mono CG TV anime series will be a collaboration project with the Minarai Megami: Puru Purun Sharumu comedy manga by Jikouryu (story) and K Dani L (art). The project is titled Tesagure! Bukatsu-mono Spin-off Puru Purun Sharumu to Asobou (Let's play with Puru Purun Sharumu).

Minarai Megami: Puru Purun Sharumu has been serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Sirius since its November 2012 issue, and currently one tankobon volume is available. The story features five personalities in Bunka Housou's radio program "A&G NEXT GENERATION Lady Go!!" as high school girl Minarai Megami (Apprentice Goddess). The five voice actresses: Shiori Mikami (Rin Arisugawa), Rumi Ohkubo (Kanon Izayoi), Mikako Komatsu (Hina Usami), Natsumi Takamori (Yui Enjoji), and Sumire Uesaka (Tomomi Okonogi) will also join the collaboration anime project.

The 12-episode first season of the TV anime Tesagure! Bukatsu-mono was aired in Japan from October to December in 2013, then the second season titled Tesagure! Bukatsu-mono Encore followed for another 12 episodes from January to March in 2014. While all of the episodes in both seasons were produced in 15-minute format, the episode length of the collaboration show will be 30-minute. It is scheduled to premiere in Japan at some point in 2015.
