I love looking at old zines, like nothing fucking compares. One my favs is "Shocking Pink", a feminist youth-led magazine published between 1979-1992. (Link to all the zines here.) In it they talk about sexism and access to abortion resources, queer and gender rights, lesbianism and LGBT+ bookshops and all-female bands, racism and historical movements, equality for girls/women in trades and youth-led movements in the midst of Thatcher's Britain. If I could tell anyone looking to research this period I would tell them to read the zines made by the people they want to write about <3

'Transfem DIY HRT' and 'Transmasc DIY HRT' are a pair of zines aimed at teaching transgender people how to safely self-administer DIY Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

Both zines are 100% free to download here from Little Mouse (who also made the zine). Print, share and distribute to those who need it!

I take for granted how wonderful it is to be trans with my partner. Life if so unimaginably hard being what we are but at night I crawl into his arms and find revolution in his embrace.

We giggle as we try to take off our binders and get stuck in them together; heads hidden and arms crooked, my chest hurts from laughing before he falls asleep in my arms.

He holds my face in his hands and tells me he has hope for us, that things will get better. I'm terribly stubborn and never believe it when people say that, but when he looks at me with so much hope, so much strength, I find myself embracing his ambition for a greater future.

Before, I never thought I had a future but he reminds me that we will conquer it together. We make a savings plan for my top surgery.

I've been unreversibly changed by him. No matter how isolated I feel from the trans community I have our little group of two to come back to every night. Being trans is fucking debilitating, but being trans with him is utterly beautiful. I can't wait to cultivate the person I'm meant to be by his side. But most of all I can't wait for the day things are better. Where I find revolution beyond his embrace and we live quietly thinking of our oppression as a memory. Where our idenities, our love, isn't a political scapegoat. I clench my teeth together, containg my craving for another reality, and press my lips to his. I squeeze my eyes shut and wish, like he's a shooting star, hoping if I hold on long enough fredom will come.
