And as if life isn’t grand enough. 10:40pm on my birthday I get a notification.

I have officially been denied even an interview from every single university course I had applied for.

Everything sucks. I’m done. No longer gonna be hopeful for any good fucking thing happening.

   She suddenly felt a bit flustered, not being used to compliments whatsoever. Sure, she would get the odd one here and there, but it was rather rare. Especially in regards to her eyes. “Y-You really think so?” She blinked, confusion settling on her face as the hat was placed on her head. “What’s this for?”

                  "It's got the same colour, right?" Even if it was only little details, Yoko was determined to prove her point. She paused for a few moments to pull out a compact mirror she carried and quickly flipped it open to hold infront of the other girl but at a distance that she'd be able to see how good it looked on her. "See? And you really pull off this style, too! I’m so jealous~"

“That’s stupid…” Izumi growled but both knew that Izumi had hurt him for less than a spilled drink, sometimes even for a look in the wrong direction. As the two looked at her wrist, he frowned a little took ‘her’ good arm. “Let’s put some ice on it, I live nearby after all.” 

                  Crap -- Now he'd have to explain to his brother how he'd managed to get a bruise. Letting out a small sigh, Haruki was caught off guard as his other arm was taken. A fear showing slightly but relaxing upon hearing his words. He was ... worried? About him? Well, to Izumi, this was just some random girl he was helping. "Sure ..."

   Shiori glanced down at her own purchases with a small smile, thanking the cashier as her bag was handed to her. “Do you think so? They’re really nothing special.” The smile on her face widened a little, surprised she even noticed the color matched her eyes. She held the emerald green hair pin in her hand, examining it carefully. “Y-yes it is. People tell me I should wear that color more often, I’m a little unsure about wearing it a lot myself.”

                  Stopping for a moment, Yoko reached out and took a hold of the pin, looking at it for a few moments before holding it up towards the girl's hair. A nod given before she handed it back. "It really does suit you. Your eyes are really clear and a beautiful colour, you could pull this off no problem." The smaller girl smiling wide before taking out the cap she had just bought, the tags torn off so as to place it on her head. “There~”

  She nodded, still smiing pleasantly. “I really do. I obviously don’t know your usual style but it doesn’t hurt to try and change things up every once in a while. I wish I could pull things off like that myself,” she replied with a small laugh, making her way up to the register to pay for the small hair accessories she had been picking up.

                  Meeting her once more at the check out, Yoko was quiet as she placed the hat and a few other items on to the desk. Everything paid for and in a bag before she turned to give the girl another smile. "Those are really cute!" her excited tone accompanied a finger pointed towards the accessories. "Oh, this one is the same colour as your eyes~"

                  "Yeah ... it feels kinda bland, huh?" He had been staring at it for some time himself. While it definitely felt more fresh, just this colour alone felt a little empty. "Mm ... I wonder if we can find some nice wallpaper to put up instead. Even just on one of the walls for now."

   She laughed softly, a smile forming on her lips. She normally wasn’t the type to be asked for advice with these sorts of things, though she was happy to be of help. “No need to thank me. I just offered my opinion. Though I do think you made a good choice! It really does look lovely on you.” 

                  "You think so? This is way off from my usual style but I've kinda been eyeing it for a while" she giggled. "Sometimes you gotta try something new, right? I'm putting my faith in you, random stranger!" With a light hearted salute, Yoko ran off to place back the hat she didn't want and then towards the cashier to pay for the one selected.

She’s a little startled, not expecting to be called out to so suddenly. Blinking rapidly, Shiori eyed the girl as she tried on both hats, weighing the options in her head. “They’re both rather cute. I think the second one suits you a little bit better though.”

                  "That's what I was thinking but I really couldn't decide since I like the design on the first one a bit better." Keeping the second on, she turned to one of the mirrors and checked it out for a while before nodding. "I'll go with this, then! Thank you so much~" Now she just had to put the other one back.

So my birthday basically didn’t happen. Woke up, was completely ignored, took my sister out since my dad fucked up her birthday a few days ago, text a few people to hang out tonight and they all said no ... so I’ve been sitting completely on my own since lunch time.

I don’t know why I get my hopes up every year that it’s gonna be different because it never is. I might as well just stop thinking about it tbh. Hopefully this means my bad luck streak is over at least with March approaching.
