The sun was already shining by the time Morpheus woke up for his classes. He was an hour late into sleeping through his planetarium class. With the nightmares mysteriously going way and not coming back over the weekend Morpheusâ body decided it was the perfect time to catch up on lost sleep. As he rushed to get ready so at least catch the last hour of the class he decided there was no time to add his intricate makeup and just smudged some black eyeliner on his eyes.
While walking onto the campus Morpheus passed by the motorcycle parking and noticed a skeleton mounted on the back of a motorcycle to mimic it being a passenger. He chuckled to himself while taking a picture of it. Even though he was in a rush to get to class his interest in motorcycles always made him stop to look. His sister Teleute always begged him not to get one given her job as a mortician made her see many victims of motorcycle accidents. Morpheus was stubborn however so he still planned to get one.
Walking quietly into the planetarium as the last show was beginning to play, Morpheus saw Lucienne behind the computer screen looking at him surprised. He just shrugged at her knowing once the class ended heâd be able to explain to her why he was late.
âMy nightmares ended up going away randomly,â Morpheus explained to Lucienne as they sat in a cafe on campus they had walked to together after their class had ended, âNow my body is making up for lost time I guess.â
âI thought you said they happen everyday without fail since the very start of their cause,â Lucienne replied back. That same thought also bugged Morpheus of why this had happened and what was causing it. He thought to himself to log this new information and maybe find a psych major in his TA physic class if they came across something similar in their other classes for the major.
âYea I donât know the cause, but Iâm going to find out why even if I have to be unethical and give someone a good grade on a lab,â Morpheus sighed into his hands as he rubbed his face in stress. Lucienne chuckled at his comment given she knew heâd probably actually do it since he hated not knowing things.
âWell I doubt if they needed your help with a lab grade theyâd tell you the right information for your âproblemâ,â Lucienne air quoted with her fingers. If anything she thought this was a good thing and that Morpheus should enjoy the new sleep he was getting, but she knew after two years of knowing him that it would bug him not to know. She decided to at least try and change the subject to subconsciously get him to stop thinking about it.
âI saw you longing look at that motorcycle with the skeleton while we walked here. Has Teleute continued to nag you about not getting one?âshe teased while smiling at Morpheus. He rolled his eyes at the question. She obviously knew the answer.
âYes as always she does. Iâm halfway contemplating using this money Iâm making as a TA to get one out of spite,â he said while checking the watch on his wrist. It was almost time for him to go back to the physics building for the said TA class. Morpheus and Lucienne said their goodbyes as he walked to the physics building and she walked to the library.
The class was buzzing outside the classroom as they waited for the professor to come unlock the door. With it being October everyone was planning on what they would wear for the various parties being held throughout the month to celebrate Halloween. Morpheus didnât care about the parties given him and Lucienne planned to have a horror themed book reading session for the holiday.
Once the professor finally opened the room he told the class to switch seats so their tables would be mixed up for the upcoming lab activities. Three people sat at the table Morpheus stayed at which would make them a smaller lab group in comparison to the other tables. One of the students that sat diagonal from Morpheus looked familiar to him having helped them a lot with the work sheets in previous class days. Before he could remember their name a motorcycle helmet in someoneâs hands, who was walking in late, passed by.
Morpheus quickly looked up in confusion, not remembering anyone who brought a helmet. His eyes met a familiar blond with dark shades. Ah the douche he nodded to himself. He scrunched brows in annoyance at the thought that of course they would be the type of person to walk in with the helmet one day to show off instead of just leaving it at their bike.
The familiar face at his table had told them before they walked to the normal seating that the seating switched for new lab groups. The two seemed friendly with each other which was odd given Morpheus didnât remember them being at a table together before the switch. None the less even with the notice they still walked to the corner of the opposite side of the room where they always sat. As the professor started the lecture Morpheus zoned out til it came time for him to help with the work sheets.
Gault was the name of the student Morpheus remembered helping. He found it out because unfortunately they were always asking questions as he walked around the class helping for the day. It came to one point he just stayed at the table while the professor helped the other side of the room. Not only was Gault in need of help a lot with the physics problems, but she also liked talking about non-class related things to Morpheus. He tried to steer back on subject every time, but Gault always found a way out. While she talked randomly she did end up asking Morpheus about his day which to humor her he said it was good hoping it would end the conversation. It did not. He ended up having to tell her specifically why it was good and given he lied he ended up saying something random.
âI saw a cool bike while walking over here so thatâs why,â he said.
âOooh so you like motorcycles?â Gault grinned while typing something on her phone. The whole time the conversation was happening Gault had been chatting with someone else on her phone. Morpheus didnât understand how she could be so sociable. He himself could barely handle this one conversation. As she yapped on she mentioned random things, one being what her major was. It had made Morpheus perk up given what it was. Pre-med Psychology. While the conversation had drained a lot of his social battery it ended up being worth it. He had been lucky to have a med student specifically for psychology in the class. It wasnât super rare given all pre-med were required to take this class, but it did feel like fate given she picked to sit at his table.
Before he could ask her about his nightmare problem someone interrupted the conversation.
âSo you like motorcycles huh?âa voice came from behind Morpheus. Raising an eyebrow Morpheus turned to look at the owner of the question. His eyes met black-tinted glass. It took Morpheus all he had not to sign in annoyance or not filter his facial expression.
âThat is such a random question to ask, why are you over here and why would you think to ask that?â Morpheus questioned the blond.
âOh I told him,â piped in Gault. She waved at the blond over Morpheusâ shoulder. Now the table had four students sitting at it. Morpheus hoped this wouldnât be a permanent thing given it would make grading a nightmare from all the group names being put together in the online classroom at the start of class.
âYea,â the blond smiled,â my buddy here texted me that you liked them and I should come over to the table.â Gault smiled blissfully aware of her created chaos.
âJust cause I like them doesnât mean some random owner of one needs to come over here,â Morpheus grumbled, âWhy donât you just go back to you table now that you got to be curious. This is still a class with people needing help with problems.â He leaned back on the whiteboard near him so he could go back to looking for people raising their hands. It wasnât long before a hand raised up into his view. Too close of a hand.
âI need help Mr. TA,â smirked the blond with his hand up. Gault looked over to her friend beside her.
âBut Corinthian I thought you already knew-,â he shushed her before she finished her sentence. Morpheus leaned forward off the wall while rolling his eyes. He walked to the other side of the table where they sat and looked down at the question being pointed at. A simple gravity question. This guy just had to be messing with him now on purpose, but he wrote out the formula anyways. The problem was instantly solved after he stepped away.
âThanks Mr. TA. Now is Gault right about you liking motorcycles?â Corinthian asked, looking up at Morpheus.
âYea man, now finish your work,â Morpheus said while motioning his hand in a shoo motion.
âNah itâs my turn to talk with you. Gault got all the juicy details so now Iâm interested,â Corinthian shrugged while moving his paper away. It didnât matter anyways given it was already finished. Morpheus narrowed his eyes at the blond before looking around to see if anyone needed help so he could just walk away. Unfortunately everyone decided to be smart today and he saw no hands raised.
âGault, what were you even talking about before I got here?â Corinthian asked, turning to her. She rambled on the whole conversation before ending on the last thing she said.
âOh thatâs boring it was just a how was your day question. What did the bike look like? Maybe it was mine.âhe smirked while now switching his attention to Morpheus. Morpheus replied back with silence and Corinthian rolled his eyes at the response.
âWell letâs just pick up from where Gault had left before I got here then. I share the same major as her. Thatâs how we met. Whatâs your major Mr. TA?â

When looking into writing this story I knew I wanted have some zodiacs mentioned in the story given it is a college AU and lots of college students when I was in college mentioned their signs a lot. But there wasnât a concrete assignment that I could find and lots of articles either said Morpheus was a Capricorn or Scorpio and Corinthian was either a Scorpio or Leo. So poll time cause I canât decide lol. If you pick other please comment what you feel like they should be.
(I am a little biased myself as a Capricorn for Morpheus to be one, but Scorpio fits him when heâs moody)
A/N: We did it bois. Finally got Chapter 2 written. I was pretty busy at my job the last couple of days so I had had like no free time. I did decide while writing this that instead of revealing Corinthianâs major in this chapter Iâm going to wait given the next chapter him and Morpheus have more interactions with each other. The next chapter will hopefully be the last one til I write one for Halloween which I had something special planned for. The entry level physics courses within the school were chaotic given the types of majored students who attended them. For Morpheus the class he was TAing for was pretty calm when he first started, but now as the students have gotten used to him the class has gotten more rowdy given they want to socialize with him. Morpheus however does not like to socialize and hates coming into the class everyday. He does like the money it brings him so he powers through to be able to buy his cat at home expensive treats.
The focus for the class time for today was reviewing for their first upcoming test so this meant lots of moving around the room for Morpheus so he could help anyone review the areas they were stuck on in the unit. Everyone wanted help with remembering what formula to use with the certain scenarios their study guide worksheet gave them. Some people however did try and waste Morpheusâ time trying to make conversation to which he just glared and told them to focus on the upcoming test material.
One person however sat quietly in the back corner of the room while everyone else motioned Morpheus for help. It somewhat impressed Morpheus that in a sea of people struggling with the physics problems there was someone flying through them with ease. From the very first day of work sheets he was a little insulted with how they first began in not needing help though no matter how impressed he would be after a month of helping the class. On the first day of the class Morpheus had walked around the table making sure everyoneâs questions were answered before ending on them an expression-less face behind dark shades replying that they did not need help. In that moment Morpheus thought what kind of douche wears sunglasses inside with a grimace on his face. While Morpheus was impressed with how smart they were he still was annoyed with seeing them walk in every time class started given how they responded to if they needed help back then.
Morpheus was pretty prideful when it came to being knowledgeable in a subject that he had been studying for three years now. For someone to act like they did not value his help irked him, but he stayed professional and tried to just think about how much his paycheck would be this week. Most of the other students did make him feel that he could back up the pride he had given he was able to help them so quick to find the right answer. The class for the most part felt they knew what to do on the test when the class ended for the day, but some couldnât figure out certain problems given Morpheus had spent his time with them re-teaching them basic algebra.
While walking back into his apartment from campus he rubbed at his temples. It had been a long day after going through classes, working, and then researching in the library for an upcoming presentation he had to do on galaxy formations. Coming into his apartment finally relaxed his body and he fell into bed after feeding his cat, but not himself too exhausted to eat.
Thankfully when waking up Morpheus did not have to get ready quickly because it was finally the weekend. The closest thing he did to his normal morning routine was take a shower and put on fresh clothes. A creamy black filled the floor of the shower from the forgotten makeup from the day before being washed off. Last night Morpheus finally got some sleep from the odd miracle of him not dreaming of anything. Just a peaceful inky black through the whole night.
Morpheus felt odd given he almost had the nightmare put into a routine and not having it for once made him feel stagnant in his usual daily habits for the morning. So instead of getting right on to powering through homework like he usually does Morpheus decided to sit on his balcony and read the new books from the library Lucienne told him about last week. The autumn breeze of the season change was nice and comforting as Morpheus sat outside for the day.
A/n: Finally the first chapter is written and double checked to be posted. It is a little shorter than what I wanted, but I have a specific chapter planned for right on Halloween that I wanted to go ahead and get this one out. This is somewhat based on the actual physics program the college I went to had and the fact that I think Morpheus would be an Astrophysics major given it best fits his comic powers and will connect him to Corinthianâs major that will be revealed in the next chapter. Let me know what you think of this and if I made any spelling mistakes given I do double check mistakes myself with no beta-reader. Enjoy!

A blaring alarm was the first thing Morpheus opened his eyes to. The room was still pitch black given the time was still too early for the sun to rise. Morpheusâ eyes barely cracked open to get up from his bed to get ready for the day. He almost wanted to crawl back in to get some more sleep his nightmares during the night kept him from getting. He quickly turned on the lamp at his desk to log in his journal the nightmare that kept him up. It was the same one every night. Him walking into an old apartment kitchen and seeing his best friend,Jessamy, laying on the floor in a puddle of blood. The nightmare had some truth to it with the only thing missing being the satisfaction that the killer was caught in the end, but Morpheus was still haunted by what happened to his one true friend.
Gothic makeup hid the dark circles under Morpheusâ eyes as he walked on campus to start his day of classes. Odd looks followed him as people passed, but he didnât care and only focused on where he needed to go walking into the Physics building on campus that was infamous for the building getting you lost if you were new to it. Morpheus however knew the building like the back of his hand given this was his third year now walking into it on a daily basis for classes. This year however his classes and job were in the building. He took note of the classroom he would go to later to TA for his old physics professor.
The buildingâs planetarium, the reason for the building's maze-like layout,was the real destination for Morpheus. Waiting outside was his friend Lucienne and their instructor Matthew. Lucienne was the one person that Morpheus felt close to after what happened to Jessamy, so he was able to give her a light smile in greeting. Matthew on the other hand annoyed him so much he made a countdown for when the class would be over.
The planetarium class was to learn how to operate the system and present the shows the school offered for students. Lucienne and Morpheus had made a deal with each other on the first day of class that Lucienne would always present and Morpheus would always man the computer so he could be in the back out of view to be able to keep his makeup on. Matthew had a strict rule of âlooking normalâ when presenting that Morpheus did not agree with. As they set up the screen for the day Lucienne talked about how her weekend had been.
âI got to enjoy the new books our library got in Friday afternoon while I waited for people to ask to check out anything,â she said sighing with content at the thought of the ideal day at her job in the school library. Most days for her were hectic given a lot of the people at their school waited until the last minute to find books for whatever research paper their classes had them do.
âThatâs great Lucienne,â Morpheus replied back while connecting the computerâs pre-loaded shows to the schedule. He was somewhat envious given he spent all weekend putting in lab grades instead of getting to relax reading. The pay was one of the highest on campus, but sometimes it felt not worth it when some students didnât even know how to put the files together the right way to submit.
The schedule of shows was somewhat cringe-worthy given an elementary school had decided to take a field trip today. The Sesame Street themed show made Morpheus sit behind the computer screen grimacing. While he enjoyed most written things this was not something he enjoyed as a grown man. After what felt like forever the show was over and the class was done for the day. He and Lucienne said their goodbyes as they left for their respective lunches.
When Morpheus applied to become a TA for the physics department he did not realize how draining it would be. Thinking it would be easy and a quick thing to add for his resume Morpheus thought nothing of it when signing up. The first day of classes however quickly made him realize he should have spent his free-time writing instead. The professor wasnât the problem, but more so the students within the entry-level principles of physics course. All they wanted was to socialize rather than him actually help them with their end of class word problems. One student however did not seem interested in socializing or even needing help and finished his work quietly. Blond short hair and black round glasses sit quietly in the back corner of the classroom every afternoon.
Cooking up a Morpheus x Corinthian fanfiction cause they are my babies and they totally love each other. I will be making Morpheus gender fluid because in the comics both a male and female Morpheus have been shown and that's my headcannon :P. Morpheus will still be described with AMAB aspects in mind given Corinthian is labeled gay. I doubt there will be any NSFW parts given I am not AMAB and I do not know how to write for that unfortunatly :(

In this world being from a high winning district and a victor family would make anyone assume they are a perfect candidate to win the games. Unfortunately, Paul Atreides only inherited his parents name. When Jessica and Leto Atreides had first seen a girl was birthed they knew they needed to protect their child by making their daughter believe they were a boy so that the chances of a volunteer for their games would be higher if their name were to be pulled. So without anyone knowing the true gender of their child they announced their child was Paul.
Even so growing up into an environment as a boy Paul still grew as a female given they did not have access to hormone alteration in the districts. Only Capitol citizens had that luxury. Compared to the fierce victors of the games Paul was a timid but intelligent person with a small slender frame. Though he has his motherâs looks and fatherâs coloring he gained none of their confidence. Secretly over the years Leto and Jessica brought Paul with them when attending Capital events to make him a favorite if he were to ever have to go into the game and need sponsors. Coming from the fishing district of 4 victor familiesâ offspring were not required to volunteer for the games, but just in case his name was pulled this year Leto and Jessica felt any tactic was worth it to keep their child safe.
Within the masonry district of 2 is the ruthless victor family which has a contender for success in this yearâs games that they are even pushing for volunteering if their name is not pulled. Feyd-Rautha was groomed into the warrior his family wanted him to be as soon as he came into his uncle's care after being orphaned. Feyd made his own decision to help his impression on the Capital unlike Paul. Feyd chopped and shaved his dark ringlets to a bald head to match the Harkoneen style to give the sense of an animalistic warrior.
The Capitolâs anticipation for the 74th annual games occurring soon was very underwhelming given they cared more for the next yearâs games being a special quarter quell. Still the preparations were needed to make it entertaining. Slowly, but surely groups were being prepared to be sent off to each district to film the pulling of names for the tributes required to fight in this yearâs games. All that was left to do that kept them from being sent off was each announcer making sure they looked good for the cameras.
An abundance of extra peacekeepers watching the trains always signaled Reaping Day. Given Paul just turned 18 a couple of months ago he could not keep his breakfast down with the thought that his name may be pulled today now that it would be placed in the bowl. Feyd-Rautha on the other hand did not eat breakfast for being so enthusiastic to be the child selected amongst the victorsâ families to have their turn to volunteer for whoeverâs name gets picked from the male bowl. Feyd had waited 3 years since turning 18 for the Harkonnen family to be the chosen volunteer for the games. He had trained his whole life for this moment.
Once the two names from district 1 are drawn the broadcast switches to the cameras filming in district 2. The cameras show the crowds of 18 through 25 year olds ready to hear whose names will be picked. The overly dressed announcer makes their way to the ladiesâ bowl of names first. They announce dramatically something about ladies first before drawing out a name from the bowl. The name is announced but before they even say the last name a shout from the crowd interrupts them.
âI volunteer,â shouts a career smugly. A typical occurrence within district 2. The announcer motions them up onto the stage and then walks to the maleâs bowl. Now is Feydâs moment to be ready to shout a volunteer like the female just did moments before. The name slip is drawn and the announcer reads out into the microphone the name pulled.
âFeyd-Rautha Harkonnenâ
Feyd feels pats on his back as everyone around him knows no extra work had to be done for him to be this yearâs male tribute for district 2. He walks up onto the stage and sees his uncle in the crowd. All that is given to Feyd in recognition is a small head nod. The next districtâs pulling is shown and then it is district 4âs turn to have their names pulled. Paul is standing in the boys section of the crowd fidgeting with his black wavy hair. The announcer starts to shift towards the bowls and Paul sucks in a breath with anticipation. Slowly a hand reaches in and pulls out a paper that could mean life or death for Paul at this very moment. The name slip is slowly open and a name is called.
âPaul Atreidesâ
Silence fills the area as a zoned out Paul is pushed to the stage. Everyone in the crowds know heâs not going to make it and their silence is their own way of a memorial. No one steps up to volunteer as Paul is a set of victorsâ offspring. A false hope that his genetics might just save him. Paul doesnât hear whoâs name was called for the female tribute given his brain cannot process anything at the moment and all he does is follow to the room where the peacekeeper pushes him to. Even during introductions from their escort for district 4 Paul is in a dazed state while thinking of the future of his life. He barely has even a chance against the female from his district paired with him given she stands taller and sturdier compared to him. The one thing that finally snaps him out of his daze is the introduction to their mentor for the games. It was his mother.
