Home Protection Spell(s)
This is mainly for the super patient @poppyrosewitch who asked for these almost two weeks ago. Iāve been super busy with life and just now got around to posting this. I hope you can forgive me!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) House Protection Amulet
Two Birch Sticks (The Birch tree has great protective properties)
Red Thread (you can also use black or blue thread as well)
Optional: Any crystals that you want
What to Do:
Form a cross with the two Birch sticks
Bind them together with the red thread and hang this in your house (I recommend the heart of the home)
For extra power/enhancement attach crystals to where the twigs meet, above, or underneath the cross.Ā
2) Door Protection
Place a Dill plant or a small bag of dried Dill near or above any doors of your room. (Dill is used for preventing anyone/thing that harbors hostile or envious feelings towards the members of the house.
3) Doorstep Rice Spell
Empty Jar (mason jar will be perfect)
Uncooked Rice (either white or brown up to you)
What to Do:
Fill an open jar with the raw rice.
Place jar by the main door (so your front door or the door most often used) for protection.
Rice doesnāt repel evil but absorbs it, so you will have to replace the rice weekly to get rid of any negative energies that have been absorbed.
Do NOT bring the rice into your home when you are replacing the old rice. Do NOT cook it either. Dispose of it outside by burning, tossing it away, or scattering it on the Earth. The pure energy of Mother Nature will cleanse the rice so donāt worry about putting the negative energies out into the world.
4) Home Protection Floor wash
War Water
Bucket/Mop
Vinegar
What to Do:
Add the War Water to a bucket of floor wash water with some vinegar
Cleanse the floors and any surfaces you feel need to be cleansed as well.
When the cleansing is complete, toss the used wash water out the back door (if you do not have a back door or window, you can just flush out the leftover water down the toilet).
Rise the mop and bucket out thoroughly. Flush this rinse water down the toilet.
5) War Water Spell
Wash all thresholds, doorways, and gateways with some War Water (and vinegar if you want to add an extra boost) to set up a front line of defense against anything evil.
6) Witchās Bottle: Protection Spell (Warning: This calls for a drop or two of Blood)
Three Pin (you can use red/black/blue pins)
Three Needles (any size will do)
Three Nails (again any size will do)
Lots of Salt
A glass/ceramic/stone/metal bottle (anything but plastic will work!)
What to Do:
Place the three pins, needles, and nails into your bottle.
Fill the bottle with salt (enough to cover the pins, needles, and nails)
Add three drops of your own blood (pricking your finger is the easiest and cleanest way)
Seal the bottle securely, and bury it under the hearth or next to your home.
7) Witchās Ladder: Protection Spell
The witchās ladder is a magical device most often used with hexes, but it can also be used for protection! Witchās ladders, whether malevolent or positive, may be physically indistinguishable, what separates them is the intent of their creator.
Three cords (one red, one black and the third color is up to you)
Feathers (recommended is peacock but use any feather that you feel a connection with/has strong protection properties)
What to Do:
Braid the cords together, visualizing your intent and desires, continually and intently.
Tie a feather to the bottom of the braid.
Continue the braid until you have your desired number of feathers (remember that the numbers 5, 7, & 9 are highly recommend for protection spells).
When complete pass the braid through incense smoke and keep it hidden away safely in a secret spot.
Meeting Your New Tarot Deck
Hello there my witches and diviners! Hereās an introduction Spread I like to do for New decks so I can get a grasp on them. This is a reprint of the DalĆ Tarot Universal deck I got for my birthday.
Shuffle your cards (Iāll usually ābridgeā my cards once the entire time I use them, and thatās the first time I use them) cut your deck how you like then make your Spread starting top to bottom, left to right. 1: Please introduce yourself (card the deck thinks of as the best summary of its facets/personality) 2: Whatās your strength as a deck? 3: What are your limitations? 4: What can I learn from you? 5: Whatās the best way to work with you? 6: Whatās the outcome of our relationship?
Please introduce yourself: Knight of Swords. Majestic and proud and a touch materialistic, the deck likes to think of itself as the ācrown jewelā and craves attention and recognition.
Your strength as a deck: King of Coins Matters of the physical world, whether itās wealth, health or goals are questions best answered by this deck. Advice and insight into sensuality and the pleasures of life are easily handled by this deck
Your limitations as a deck: Ace of Swords Deeper matters of the mind, and cleaving clarity may be limited. What this could mean is that the deck, like the sword is a tool, and like the ace represents, only the beginning. The decks job isnāt to discern nuances in emotions or relationships but to show truths. Itās limit is also a strength. The sword is double edged, I may not like all the answers I get.
What can I learn from you: The Lovers About relationships in all their forms. Relationship with myself, others, romantic, business or otherwise. Life is made up of relationships, and being able to get insight into those as well as strengthening my own relationships is awesome:
Best way to use/work with you: III of Swords. Asking questions and reading answers with an open mind and an open heart. Donāt let biases shade the answers I seek because each reading is separate and stands on its own not influenced by past readings
Outcome of our relationship: Wheel of Fortune Balance and natural order will be strengthened and restored when lacking. This is comforting to read because sometimes when using the cards and seeking answers itās because you feel out of sorts, but the answers and messages delivered will bring you back to base.
Now I know what you might be thinking, āthose arenāt exactly the interpretations I have for that/those cards.ā This is a personal thing for me, but I always base my intro spread on the meanings the included book/pamphlet have. Think of it as a new phone. You unpackaged it and follow the designated set up directions, then later on you personalize it. Especially with this deck, the imagery is a very important aspect of the cards and their meanings.
Tarot spread for when people are taking advantage of you or you are being treated like a doormat.Ā
Too often I try to avoid conflict and make everyone happy at my own expense and sometimes people know theyĀ can get away with treating me poorly or will use my tendencies to their advantage. I made this spread to help me assess where maybeĀ ābeing a team playerā is actually letting people walk all over me, and where I need to draw the line. I hope this will help you figure out when and how to say no and how to assert yourself.Ā
A snake in the grass will rattle to warn you itās there and will bite if you step on it anyway.Ā
1. Who/what is holding me down
2. How to retaliate
3. How to stop it from happening again
4. What will change
My favorite spread of lateāš®pulling from the power of the pentagramā and the elementalsš®ā¦
(also doubles as a pretty powerful relationship spreadāshowing you partner qualities most compatible with your personality type).
Enjoy, wxtches
Tarot Spread: Getting to Know a New Deck
This is my little twist on your typical deck interview spread - itās how I like to conceptualize meeting a deck [spirit].Ā It can be used to get to know a new deck, or even to get reacquainted with one youāve had but havenāt spent much time with.
Do you know of any alternatives to a dream catcher? I had no idea that it was a part of someone's culture, I just thought people had them because they were neat.
i was going to have nice links and stuff but i was so depressed, however i didnāt just want to leave this!
so alternatives to dream catchers!
witches ladders. they are knot magic with added trinkets, usually feathers! while braiding or knotting just think of the intention of what you want out of it. an added bonus is the fact you can add things you associate with a goods nights sleep, or gems that offer magical properties of sleeping well, good dreams, nightmare reflection ect.
my favorite is satchels that can be made cheaply, filled with herbs and stones of your choice. when completed, put the satchel under a pillow or your bed!
similar to satchels are poppets, or a teddy bear works great for this if you have sewign skills. if you can make a small incision on the bottom of the bear (or stuffed animal/poppet) and while thinking on your intent put charged herbs and gems inside. then just close them right up adn sleep with the bear with you or near you.
if you like the looks of dream catchers to aid in helping you get better dreams i would suggest wreathes, you can add what ever decorations that match your aesthetic and practice, and it wonāt be appropriation because its not from a closed religion
and this is a good sight that talks about a few stones that work well
source
Oooh, I like this post. This is a Good Post.
I actually (shamefully) have a dream catcher that Iām only holding onto because I like the look of it (and because it was a gift from my older sister, who I love dearly).Ā
Iāve wanted to take it down, because appropriation is Not Okay, but I wanted to put somethingĀ in its place and didnāt know what. And now I know what.
Iām going to make myself a nice alternative and retire the dream catcher to storage (because I canāt bear to completely part with it, because treasured gift). So glad I found this post!
Hey ok speaking as someone who has grown up in Cree culture and has spoken to elders about this- dream catchers are 100% ok for non-natives to use. They sell them to non-natives for the very reason they are ok with it and itās not appropriation. That said you should aim to buy actual native made ones, not mass produced Chinese ones, but according to every elder I have asked, dream catchers are ok. Also re non natives making dream catchers for personal use- I have been told by elders this is fine. I was taught directly by elders myself who showed me how to cut willow and weave the sinew. I was teased by the younger natives for going to the work of doing it the hard traditional way when I could buy a hoop. Things like eagle feathers which are sacred obviously are a huge no, but dream catchers themselves are frequently given to outsiders and not considered by natives themselves to be part of a closed religion. I appreciate what you are trying to do here, but itās probably better to let actual natives speak instead of talking over them about what is and isnāt appropriation to them. My family is a whole mix of cultures thanks to adoptions and even though Iām not Cree, half my family is, so it kind of bugs me seeing non natives making judgements without actually consulting anyone.
Oh, thatās a neat perspective! Iām glad you replied! Thank you. :3
(I still plan to retire this particular dream catcher to storage because Iām almost positive itās one of the cheapo Chinese sweatshop onesā¦)
Hey!! A cree/Mi'kmaq gal here as well, dream catchers are 100% okay!! Again, just get them from native sources, even if that happens to be online- if theyāre from a native source no sacred items that could be seen as cultural appropriation in the hands of a non-native will be included usually. The one thing about dream catchers is that you should! Not! Get them tattooed. As dream catchers are supposed to absorb negative energy and nightmares it is basically like cursing yourself, and that is never fun!
You can also make a dream-net/curtain. Iām not sure what theĀ āoriginā of it is, but my grandma made them for new babies!Ā
I asked a native neighbor about this a while back and he said the same thing: dream catchers are okay for non-native people to use BUT you should buy them from natives. Not the knockoffs you find from non-natives. Those people who sell the knockoffs are trying to make a profit off of native peopleās culture, and thatās extremely uncool. He also said theyāre not going to work, anywayā¦so just donāt buy them off of non-natives.
100% agree. Dream catchers are okay, guys! Again, just get them from those who are actually Native as much as possible, because it helps them make a living and continue on their traditions!
Yāall if youāre gonna call yourself a witch, youāve gotta be willing to protect the oppressed, including LGBTQ stuff, racism shit, feminist stuff, classist shit, etc. Imo it comes with the territory; even if all you do is try to educate yourself and keep an open mind towards the things you donāt understand, thatās still doing something and thatās awesome!!!
Yo if youāre a witch and you donāt support LGBT people, block me or Iāll do it for you
imo you dont need to be political.. im political but not in the way most folks are (anarchist egalitarian). and yknow what? thats just ok as a super feminist SJW witch.Ā
so anyway if you donāt support people because their sexuality is different than yours block me or Iāll do it for you
This aināt about being political or an āSJWā itās about protecting people who donāt have the means to protect themselves.
Jesus, people, are you that callous or are you just hellbent on misinterpreting my post?
Reblog if youāre an SJW (Social Justice Witch).
