“If you must look back, do so forgivingly. If you must look forward, do so prayerfully. However, the wisest thing you can do is be present in the present… gratefully.”

Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am (2019)
Today is the day Ome Tochtli, Two Rabbit, in the sacred calendar of our ancestors. This date is also the name of the Lord of Drunkenness, for He was born on the first day to have this date in the beginning of time. He is the patron divinity of pulque drinkers and captain of the Centzontotochtin, the Four Hundred Rabbits who possess the body of those who drink the sacred drink. Ometochtli is represented as a young man dressed for battle, for pulque was used in ancient times to give courage to warriors before combat. His body is painted green, the color of fertility and rebirth, for pulque represents the fertilization of the Earth and the growth of crops.
You can find prints of Ometochtli, the Lord of Drunkenness, in my Etsy store!
