Jacen frowned at the screen as he waited for someone, namely Albus, to pick up after three rings, four, five. He was about to hang up to send a flurry of sadface emojis when the call picked up to a somewhat warped shout of his name. Jay blinked, then barked out the laugh that startled out of him at the realisation that this was really not Scorpius’ forte.
“Not so loud, sweet boy,” he continued in a giggle, but also furrowed his brow at what happened to be the family room of the home Scorpius shared with Albus. “Honey, there’s a button on the screen with arrows. Can you tap it once? I need to see your pretty face.” He waited a moment to see if his instructions were clear enough before answering the question.
“It’s only part-time, but I’m going to be using this bulky computer to change documents from manual to digital. Data-entry, and it’ll be in an office, so I can go look for some really sharp business robes… or… or! Do you think they’ll let me go in dressed in muggle business wear? Pencil skirts and heels and those really funny-looking pointed glasses?”
“What?” The blond asked, just as loudly as his other questions had been. He’d seen Al yell at the device enough to know you had to speak up when you wanted to be heard by the other person. Though it seemed like he had spoken just on the edge of too loud. “I’m sorry.” Scorpius whispered, following his friend’s instructions on tapping the screen to display his own face. Though he was wildly unsuccessful “It’s not working. The button with the arrows? Where?” Completely frustrated by the whole process, as he often was, Scorpius had the thought to burst in on Albus showering and ask for the millionth time on what to do with the mobile.
“An office! Which one? How does that work? Does the computer have a spell to do that or do you have to type one in?” Scorpius hesitated outside the bathroom door before walking back into the sitting room. He could figure this out. He didn’t need his boyfriend’s help to find a button with arrows. He had eyes. “Jay, you have to. Allie showed me this funny muggle shop. They have all that sort of things and everything’s very inexpensive and it’s old clothes that other people have worn so you do have to clean them but I bet they have those glasses!” In his excitement, Scorpius was determined to switch the camera around to his own visage but only succeeded in ending the FaceTime call instead. Staring blankly at the screen that now showed an unmoving picture of himself and Al’s tiny picture boxes, he called out in vain. “Jay?”
