Do you know how much a 100 ml bottle is? $1440.” It was an unnecessary flex but Emma found little pleasures for herself to indulge in. Winston Frost was the second richest man in Massachusetts on the Forbes Top 25 List. Emma had never poor but she hadn’t truly embraced wealth until she grew older. “Your older self was allowed at the White Palace, but he is stumbling around with no memories and you are not him. Can I help you?”

his mouth fell open, long enough for the air to dry his tongue. “who puts fourteen hundred dollar purfume in a vending machine!?” his pitch had escalated by the end of his sentence and bobby wanted nothing more to bolt in that moment. “i just wanted some goldfish..”

“okay. yeah, but you’re forgetting about the original--Emma Frost.” he replied. “but queen of hell totally beats prom queen. kinda like a sabrina spellman vibe--only you’re way more prudence.”

“awh c’mon dude--.” it wasn’t her fault. he knew that. the rational part of him knew she didn’t actually mean anything by the comment but still, his insecurities crept up and suffocated that like a snake with a rat. “low blow, man.”

“yeah well despite what older me is capable, make no mistake i’m an idiot that doesn’t know what he’s doing half the time, so. you know--you need snow or anything, i’m your guy, just don’t ask me to lift anything heavier than eighty pounds.” in truth he could do more than that but it really didn’t feel all that cool in action. plus he could only focus so much.

“well i wanted some goldfish but the bag got stuck and that was my last dollar so i thought if i like...i dunno --- rocked it? it might fall out and then... it just --oop fell. --wait you’re not gonna tell anyone are you??”

If you had you would have done so, surely.” He replied as he scrolled through his documentations. “I’m attempting to do a stable carbon isotope analysis on one of the trees on Krakoa to decifer how it differs from the various tropics and how much of that comes from Krakoa’s mutations or the environment and looking to see how this could be applied to other tropical plants.”

“uh..” bobby listened to him and followed to the best of his ability, when he was done, he said “you wanna make other plants do what the krakoan flowers do?”

“it’s ice man -- i know, i know i’m just so youthful.” he sighed and looked at the machine. “i know a guy, he can fix it--hank can fix anything.”

The staccato clicking of stilettos on the hard floor abruptly stopped as Emma surveyed the mess that had been made. “I’m going to speak very calmly to you. Do you know how much that cost?”

“it’s a vending machine--did you even pay for it??”
