Hello, I am Cozen.
Lies are delicious. Classical. But I am yet more fascinated by the lies that are not lies. Trickery and beguilement. Loopholes. Truths that are yet also lies. Mmmmm a wonderfully complicated layered taste.....
Is there a reason you're antagonizing people again? -@nohadon-enthusiast
I am seeking aid on Gavilar's behalf.
They don't seem to care as much about intention, certainly...
*blinks* Hm. Yes, that would be a good idea. Once he has Light, he'll be able to sober himself up whenever he wishes to.
Yes. Precisely, Cozen, it is logical. He's much too useful to be made to sit around all day. Any decent general would know this. I wouldn't assign him a command merely to comfort him like a consolation prize. But he might misunderstand my meaning in a way that confirms his own biases. People often do.
Humans are frustrating. Your kind should be more logical. It is not logical to possess biases. Inform him of your intentions while I am present and I will confirm it is truth. .....Yet this may not produce the desired results. He resists some truths even when they are supported by evidence. He is strange.
Mmh, very illogical. *slightly amused* ... I wasn't going to tell him until after he said the Words. I didn't think it would take him this long. He's always been so decisive before. Before... he was king, I suppose.
Sometimes truths are unpleasant to talk or think about. It takes strength to face them.
Perhaps it would aid him in saying the Words if he was returned to his status as king.
He is very strong relative to other humans. I have witnessed him carry many books at the same time. He threw a cup at me once and it went very far. I believe it requires much strength to wield Blade and Plate efficiently. Does he not possess knowledge of his strength?
... we can't do that, Cozen. Too many things have changed since then. And... I don't think he'd even want it anymore. Alethkar is lost to us anyway.
*smiles* Not physical strength. Strength of mind and spirit. That is the sort of strength the First Ideal talks about. I know he has it, but perhaps he's struggling to find it yet.
I do not enjoy Retribution. He has stolen my Radiant's home. A home is important for the health of humans, I believe.
He possesses this as well. He persists despite all the damage he has sustained. Yet..... he will not acknowledge that he is damaged..... He enjoys you. Tell him that he is damaged.

Hi, can I lick you? I've always wanted to know what a cryptic tastes like.
I do not believe you will be capable of perceiving my taste in this Realm, but I am willing to test the theory if you share the results with me.
*opens an Elsegate* Then let us try in another Realm
I do not desire to go far from my Radiant. @i-will-gain-power Gavilar, go through the Elsegate so I may take part in an experiment.
…I’m not going through a strange…whatever that is.
It is an Elsegate. It will take you to..... @inferno-the-skywing what is on the other side of this one?
Is there a reason you're antagonizing people again? -@nohadon-enthusiast
I am seeking aid on Gavilar's behalf.
*snorts* Yes, he does that. He'll just refuse to answer rather than lie directly.
... it wouldn't be enjoyable. When sad people get drunk, it only makes them feel... a different type of sad.
*he frowns, trying to parse the insult for a moment, before he processes Cozen's other words and softens* Oh. You... would know, wouldn't you? Thank you, Cozen. I wasn't sure. He- is a difficult man to read, even to me. He's blocked himself off from me rather thoroughly over the years.
... I think that's the best idea you've proposed yet. You'd have to select them carefully. I- *hesitates* I want to give him a command, once he's sworn the First. A group of Lightweavers to be trained in combat more so than espionage. But I'm unsure he wouldn't take it as me taking pity on him.
It is a wonderful half-lie. A truth with the intention of a lie. The other Cryptics rarely appreciate such subtle flavors.
Mmmmm. I understand. You suggest I make him happy before I proceed with my experiment. I will forbid him from being drunk until he has said the Words.
I am confused. Why would this be an expression of pity? He possesses great leadership and combat skills. It is logical to assign him a command.
They don't seem to care as much about intention, certainly...

How is it going with your radiant?
@theory-cryptic
Difficult. He resists my efforts to aid him. I have discovered a new emotion: frustration. I do not enjoy it.
*pulses and folds up into new fractals*
This is how radiants describe soul casting.
Mmmmm. Fascinating. Perhaps once Gavilar gains access to his Surges I will be able to identify the emotion for him. He is not helpful about identifying mine. I am required to seek out external sources of information.....
You will soulcast your radiant into someone a little more whole.
I will. I do not intend to give up. He is my Radiant and I will aid him in fixing his damaged parts!

I am seeking aid on Gavilar's behalf.
*he is silent for a long minute, contemplating that*
He's not... honestly talked about his feelings... maybe ever? It wasn't something we were raised to do. I myself have only been learning recently, and that is with very patient and empathetic people around me. You are... certainly trying your best, but a Cryptic's difficulty to relate to human emotion must pose additional difficulty.
*pauses* I also don't think he should get drunk. It's not a good way to deal with... sadness.
... he struggled for a long while to find the Words. The Stormfather ended up rejecting him. That doesn't mean he can't be Radiant now. But it will feel much more recent to him than it does to the rest of us...
He also doesn't like seeming weak in front of anyone. *shrugs* It's how we were raised. It's how Alethi are. If he's struggling and needs company, the last thing he'll do is swallow his pride and ask for it. And I... am not sure it doesn't also hurt him, to be around people who have had time to move on and change, while he remains behind. I certainly don't feel as though he wants to see me, most of the time.
I am becoming capable of experiencing emotion. It is mmmmm..... an interesting phenomenon. It would be helpful if Gavilar possessed the ability to accurately label my new emotions. He is mmmmm..... tricky. He avoids my questions rather than answering them with lies. It is delicious, yet on occasion frustrating.
Mmmmm? I did not suggest getting drunk would aid him. I stated it would be enjoyable.
The Stormfather is foolish and short-sided. He is as the other spren. Incapable of seeing Gavilar's potential. *annoyed humming* .....Yet I find myself..... enjoying the Stormfather's lack of intelligence. Gavilar is mine. I do not wish for any other spren to have him.
*even more irritated humming* The Stormfather is an excellent selection of bond for you. Gavilar enjoys your company. He is less upset when he speaks to you. You aid him.
Mmmmm. Perhaps I will locate new people for him to group with. People who did not know him before his death.
*snorts* Yes, he does that. He'll just refuse to answer rather than lie directly.

I am seeking aid on Gavilar's behalf.
... that metaphorical blood is usually a greater strength than it is a weakness.
He... *his frown turns more troubled* How is he doing, Cozen? Really? I'm aware he must be hiding his struggles, but you're with him all the time. Is it that dire?
He is very sad. He insists he is not damaged. He is mmmmm frightened of being further damaged, I believe. I am his spren. I will not damage him. I will aid him. Yet he will not share his feelings. He offers lies when I request truths. He will not partake in enjoyable bonding activities with me such as getting drunk together. I cannot, of course, get drunk, but I desire to observe it!
He possesses many contradictions..... it is fascinating. And frustrating. He is lonely, yet avoids the company of others. He tells me frequently to leave yet gets very upset when I do so or if he cannot locate me. He believes he is incapable of change yet this is a statement that is completely incorrect. All Radiants possess the capacity for change.

I am seeking aid on Gavilar's behalf.
... that would kill him, Cozen. Besides, it is more of a figure of speech. Blood, as something shared between family, yes?
*he frowns thoughtfully* ... not all other Radiants are happy. We struggle. But we are not stagnating. He is. He... refuses to seek out the journey. It... is difficult, to still want to change, at our age. Gavilar has lost all that we spent our lives fighting for. I think... he must be very tired.
Mmmmm. Metaphorical blood. *contemplative spinning* I attempted to remove his metaphorical blood. That did not aid him either.....
*spins quietly for a moment* I do not believe this is wholly correct. I theorize that Gavilar desires the journey yet erroneously believes it is forbidden to him. That he is frightened of his damage and thinks it too great to be healed. Our bond is proof that this is false and yet he still resists.....

Hello, Cozen! We have returned! *Denouement spins in greeting, though there is something a bit pained and jerky about the way she moves* -@story-cryptic
Greetings, Denouement. *pleased humming* How fared your journey? *pauses* .....You appear damaged. What occurred?
It is very pleasing! Mmmmmm. It is easier to spend time with another Cryptic, even though I like humans. You make sense!
A study that will further benefit other spren who choose to pursue a Radiant bond in the future.
*hums more thoughtfully* ... do you think that sometimes humans do not wish to be happy? Perhaps human misery is an addictive substance to them.
Mmmmm? *spins thoughtfully* An interesting theory. I believe it may bear truth. It may explain why Gavilar resists my efforts to aid him. We will undertake further research.
Gavinor also often seems to make the choices that will make him more miserable instead of less. I am attempting to understand this, so I can advise him on how to stop. *her spinning slows* ... he cares so little for himself. He does not see that he is wonderful. Have you complimented Gavilar an appropriate amount? Perhaps it will make him more susceptible.
Mmmmm. *spins thoughtfully* May I propose having him shaken? It is what I desire to do with my Radiant when he resists logic.
Perhaps I have not! I will rectify this deficit immediately. Are compliments required for humans' health?
Is there a reason you're antagonizing people again? -@nohadon-enthusiast
I am seeking aid on Gavilar's behalf.
... it seems like your efforts are proving counterproductive.
Do you believe so? *spinning sadly* I do not know how to aid a Radiant. I desire for him to say the Words. I do not enjoy him being without his Surges.
... I want the same thing. Gavilar is... *sighs* We have a tremendous stubbornness in our blood. Trying to force him into something is likely to make him want to do it even less.
..... I have been informed not to push. That it may damage him. Yet I..... *very sad and slow spinning* I wish to urge him onward regardless. He is not happy. Other Radiants are happy. Speaking the Words will aid him..... Do you believe it would be beneficial to remove all his blood and replace it with more useful blood?

Greetings, Denouement. *pleased humming* How fared your journey? *pauses* .....You appear damaged. What occurred?
We have been sharing experiences, giving each other helpful advice, and celebrating each other's successes! I believe all of those things are qualifiers for friendship! *she joins in his humming at a higher pitch, harmonizing*
Do you believe this is a pattern that can be observed in all Radiants? Or is it a trait shared among Lightweavers in particular? ... or it could be a trait of the bloodline, such as hair and eye color...
*she slows her spinning a little, thinking* Adolin does not wish to be Radiant, but he is happy not being Radiant. Gavilar is not happy. He would be happier if he said the Words.
*spinning rapidly, excited* I am pleased. I have acquired a friend! We are friends!
Mmmmm? Perhaps we can collaborate on an experiment. We can observe the bonds between Lightweavers and their spren as compared to other Radiants, and then further compare that data to the Kholin family. It will be an enjoyable study, I believe.
I agree with your assessment. I will inform him that you believe the same. Perhaps he will then try harder.
It is very pleasing! Mmmmmm. It is easier to spend time with another Cryptic, even though I like humans. You make sense!
