“So the new girl's name is Cecilia.”

“Cecilia, huh? Any information about her?”

“She took interest in those plants...”

“And why?”, Lincoln got tense for a moment.

“Don’t know why. She told me that she was directed to me by Erwin.”

“Erwin? Ah okay, I thought she’s a government spy.”

“Nah, she looks informal. Flannel,jeans and sneakers. Pretty casual girl by form and personality.”

Her caller, a tired man in his 40s said, “Hello, Peyton! I’m glad to inform you that I compiled everything we need to discuss for today’s meeting! Notify Erwin about it, okay?”

“Well, that’s great, Mr. Broadsheet. I’ll ask Erwin to come with me.”

She paused for a moment, lowering her voice as she starts to speak. “Lincoln, I’ve got some news.”

“What is it, Peyton?”, this intrigued Lincoln. What is this ‘news’ that his friend, no, rather his acquaintance talked about. He listened carefully as Peyton begins to speak about the new girl in the town.

Interesting, he thought.

“Eh, the Mayor closed it for safety purposes. It’s alright tho, I’ve got a pass card.”

A song began to play, vibrations coming from Peyton’s jackett. The song begins with the guitar howling then fast guitar picking. Peyton took her phone and checked it. “Sorry, I’ve got a call. Before I go, do you have some kind of transportation?” 

“I travel by bike!”

“I see. You have to follow my bike so you’ll know. So long!” She rushed away from her seat, crushing her cigarette before rushing to the door.

She rushed to the parking area where her motorcycle is located. She stopped near the parking road sign, taking a quick breath before answering her call.

“Hello?”

Cecilia looked away from her. She gulped. “Uhhh, Erwin told me to find you.”

The goth woman’s eyes widened then she relaxed, “Erwin? Aaaah, the guy from the curio shop. You must have asked him to join our group, huh?”

“Yep! I have shown him pictures.”, Cecilia pulled up her phone. Peyton tipped her hand on Cecilia’s hand. “No need to do that. I trust your word on it.”

“How do I go to your house?”

“Ah, you have to go to the Shady Acres and you have to pass through the security gate. Since the incident, I don’t think anyone is allowed there unless you have a pass.”

“Really?”

Cecilia noticed it and faced the lady. Upon close examination, this must have been this Peyton lady that Erwin was talking about according to Cecilia. Could that be her or just some random biker?

Cecilia waved her hand at Peyton, not noticing her at first, “Hello! You must be Peyton!” Peyton then turned to her right, looking at Cecilia. She groaned at her. “I don’t know who you are, missus. Give me a break.” She went back to smoking her cigarette. She turned her head away from Cecilia for her safety. Smokes puffing away from her. She crossed her arms while carrying her cigarette “Okay, kiddo. How the hell do you know that my name is Peyton?”

She said to the bartender. “Red wine please!” The bartender compiled and gave her a glass of wine. She drank it all up in one gulp and slammed the glass down. The bartender was shocked about this and said, “Do you need more?”

“Nope!”, she said. She placed some simoleons on the table and the bartender. Meanwhile, the other lady chuckled and gave herself a puff of nicotine.

I decided that Crypts will have a hiatus. It's not over yet but I'm gonna do more brainstorming during this period of hiatus.

Inside the saloon was filled with people, quite unusual for a struggling town in the middle of nowhere desert. So far, she only found three or so people who appeared to be military. The people were joyous despite the town’s situation, talking about their experiences from their home. This reminds Cecilia of the Mess Hall from the Sixam Training Center, with older folks drinking the special drinks exclusive to Sixam. She walked to the bar which only has the bartender and the odd person out, a woman wearing a leather jacket who just lit her cigarette.

She puffed her smoke out of her lungs and grabbed her drink, a few drops of scotch left with ice cubes flowing inside of it. Cecilia sat down on the stool next to her and fetched her wallet from her pocket. Cecilia raised her hand at the bartender.

Hollow Hills Saloon

“This is DJ Chillsie Dapper of Strange Indie Radio Station and the next song from our playlist for today is Vool Zam by one of the Simnation’s indie rock icons, Caesar Ramone!”

She ran back to her bike. Fortunately, no bike robbers were seen on the plaza, ready to ransack the slightly used bike. She hopped back to her bike and rode towards the old saloon. She parked it near the entrance and went inside the old bar.

Erwin shouted at Cecilia, “Oh hey! You forgot to ask me about Peyton!” but it’s too late, Cecilia already ran somewhere else. He placed his hand on his face in disappointment. “Dang it! How is she going to find Peyton?”

Then he took a moment to reflect...

“By the way, this woman looks familiar… Was she my childhood friend?”

In his head, he had flashbacks of the happy times spent together with his close friend as a young child. Chasing each other on the town square, stargazing on the night sky. Then he held his pocket watch on his chest, golden filled with unreadable inscriptions. He doesn’t know the meaning behind them but this watch has the meaning of his lost friend. Then, he shed a tear. “Did she forget me?”

“Um, are the pictures of plants worth it? I just took them.” Cecilia pulled out her phone. She wrapped her hands around the phone, only showing them to Erwin. The phone shows pictures of the Sixamnian plant. Erwin leaned down to get the closer look on the pictures, swiping them as he went. “I think those came from a foreign planet. I don’t know.”, she said.

“Nice, y-you have taken them in different angles. You may have to talk to Peyton at the saloon near my shop so she will give you the address.”, Erwin said.

“Address? What if it’s too far from here?”, Cecilia exclaimed.

“N-no, no! It’s actually around here, just on the canyons! It’s better to ask her so she will give you the directions.”, Erwin paused, looking away from Cecilia for a moment, “I’m… rather forgetful about them, sorry.”

“It’s okay, Erwin. No need to sweat! See you around then!”

“Watching? Who?”, Cecilia asked Erwin.

“T-the government, they’re trying to catch anyone who leaks information about their secrets. W-we have to be careful about that. The people in black will try to catch you in their vans. We don’t want to get caught, y’know.”

Then Erwin noticed Cecilia leaned near the shed’s table. 

“By the way, y-you shouldn’t be this close. Sorry, i-it’s just uncomfortable for me.”

Cecilia took a moment of realization and moved back to her original position. “Uh better? I’m sorry about it. Should we schedule a meeting or something?”

“That could work but y-you have to p-prove to me you’re worthy t-though. I’m sorry about it.”, Erwin looked away in embarrassment, the blush making the freckles on his face more prominent. He put both of his index fingers together. Cecilia resisted her urge to persist on this matter, she doesn’t want this innocent man to get arrested in the middle of their conversation.

Cecilia asked the shopkeep to help her on this internet matter. He agreed and tried his best explaining things. Despite his stuttering at times, Cecilia understood the concept. It turns out it’s actually simple. Cecilia wished to slap herself on the back for not being smart enough. After the ordeal, she said:

“So this is it? I have to use this app for the internet in my phone?”

“Yeah! Pretty easy, r-right?”, Erwin chirped

“Yep! Thank you! By the way, what is your name?”

“Erwin. Erwin Pries. W-what about you?”

“Da- Cecilia Mcdowell.”, Cecilia giggled that away.

Cecilia almost slipped up. She forgot that humans don’t use their titles as names. Maybe on their last name back in their primitive days as Sixamnians called it but not really now. Speaking of names, Erwin Pries sounds familiar to- Not this again! The pain will-  “Sorry about the slip up, Erwin.”

“I-It’s alright, Cecils. Anyway, a-anything else I could help?”, Cecilia felt the anxiety on Erwin. Honestly, she felt the same too.

She leaned closely to the shed. This shocked Erwin at first but to him, it looks like she has something important to say. “Do you know anything about those plants?”, she whispered.

“Uh, I rather discuss this privately. They’re watching us...”, Erwin whispered back.

Change of plans

I might make two posts per day instead of three. My father cut off my internet at around 10 pm in my time and it sucks. Also, I think it’s too pressuring for me to create three posts per day now that the internet cut off at 10pm which is like 10 am in the timezone I use for scheduling the posts.

Cecilia approached the man around his mid 20′s in the box shaped object or what humans will describe as a shed. She recited what humans do when they greet each other, finally this is the chance to do it. She once planned a grandiose greeting but she scrapped it. She gathered up the courage and waved at the young man before her. This man seemed to give her some sense of familiarity. Did I meet you from somewhere? She resisted the thought for the fear of that pain showing in front of him.

“Hello, human. I mean there!”, she said to the man. She swore under her breath while he was gathering his things in his shed.

The man waved at her back with a shy smile and an expressionless gaze. Cecilia just assumed the man just didn’t know how to express emotions properly but it doesn’t matter to her.

“Oh hello, stranger! W-welcome to my shop of curiosities. H-how can I help you?”, he said with hints of anxiety on his voice.

Cecilia took a glance at his wares filled with supernatural and alien paraphernalia then at the shopkeep. She raised a question, “Where can I use Netscape on?”

Confused, the shopkeep said, “Netscape? Oh, I don’t think we use Netscape for the Internet no more.”

“Huh?”

Cecilia looked into her database about the ‘Internet’ and the database listed Netscape as one of the applications to access the internet. Maybe this human can help her update on this Internet thing that humans are so focused on.
