A little old WIP Wrightworth fan fic from my notes app if anyone is curious..
TW: very cringe and a little melodramatic
“Edgeworth?“
Phoenix started. He was dripping in scalding coffee after a certain prosecutor had lost his temper. Court had adjourned for the day and the pair had returned to Edgeworth’s office.
“I don’t know how they could’ve just disappeared! They should’ve been held in better custody-”
Edgeworth continued, going from pacing around his desk, sitting, then standing back up again.
“Edgeworth-“
“I ought to cut Gumshoes pay for this! How could two 18 year old girls escape professional custody? It’s foolish! Not to mention that defense, Wright what were you thinking?-“
“EDGEWORTH!”
He abruptly stopped in his pacing as he crossed his arms. He still didn’t turn to look at Pheonix.
“..Wright”
“Are you the one currently drenched in coffee?”
Edgeworth looked at him from over his shoulder; his expression pained. Pheonix took off his tie, wringing it out on the garringly yellow floors of the office before tossing it over to the chess board; knocking the sharp red and spikey blue pieces over
“.No..Obviously”
“Then shut- and listen for a second.”
With some hesitation Edgeworth sat down at the desk; finally daring to face the other man head on.
“You’re telling me what I’m doing wrong, but not what I should do instead. Franziska and Maya are missing, yes, but-the entire department are looking for them. In the meantime we have 12 hours to get any and all evidence we need for tomorrow and pacing a hole in the floor won’t help anyone.”
“And if they don’t find them?”
“I don’t know, Edgeworth! I don’t know anything! But running away won’t solve anything.”
The prosecutor-for once in his life- picked up on some subtly.
“Are you still mad at me?”
Edgeworth asked hesitantly, scared of the answer. Phoenix collapsed on the couch by the table where his ruined documents sat and dropped his head in his hands.
“What would she think.?”
Phoenix whispered to himself, Maya had the magatama so any hope at contacting Mia was lost.
“.Wright?”
Edgeworth walked over to stand in front of him then continued after not getting a response.
“You’re dripping coffee on my couch.”
“Is that what’s important to you right now?”
Phoenix snapped up to meet his gaze, that said gaze Edgeworth quickly retracted, deciding that the window was far more interesting. Part of Phoenix couldn’t help but feel guilty for the harsh words towards his friend*. Even if deserved. Edgeworth sighs.
“You’re right, Wright”
Despite himself Phoenix grinned up at him. One could only imagine the sight, a lawyer covered in coffee and grinning stupidity.
“Well it’s in the name-“
“You’re not funny.”
Edgeworth said sternly, finally daring to make eye contact. But he didn’t continue. Causing a pause between the two.
Pt. 2 maybe?
