Deciding to be an artist for a living is honestly a pretty dumb decision. You get told by everyone it’s unrealistic, you’ll never be good enough, it’s not a real job etc. Still, you decide to try, you battle your negative thoughts daily as you start to second guess whether this path was meant for you - thinking of giving up several times. But you just can’t, it’s the only thing you want to do in life. You need to be a little dumb to follow this path, otherwise you’d be blinded by reason.

When AI samples images from us without permission, they’re not just taking data. They’re taking a lifetime of dedication and putting it into a program, just to spit out some amalgamation of what is supposed to mimic human expression.

Its current implementation is unethical and should be illegal. Current AI was trained on the non-consensual use of people's work and copyrighted material. There are no laws in place to protect artists, and there is no compensation for your work being used. Until the software starts to exclusively stick to art that is royalty free or with the artists permission, I ask you all to boycott AI and support human artists.

So you decide to use a woman’s image to make your point and turn it into some “omg she cute but evil” incel kinda bs after you just did everything to hurt women and be as shitty as you can (also applies to other women, idc), while ignoring what and who the real problem is? I’m all for this if it’s a real discussion about art, not whatever you’re trying to pull.

Just a heads up for anyone with a DeviantArt, they have now made everyone automatically "opted in" for their art to be used for AI art. You have to go into the settings of every piece you've ever posted and opt out for each individual piece if you don't want your art to be used as "inspiration for" AI art. Additionally, users can now create AI art by inputting random DeviantArt users' usernames as prompts. Today might be a good day to opt out (or delete your account entirely, as I did).

I feel my mind boiling at the moment. Why all social networks suddenly seem to be on a movement against artists. I've already been feeling so unmotivated... I've always been a small artist, and it seems increasingly difficult to get any visibility. Since I was young I have Deviantart, there I met several artists that I admire and follow to this day... just thinking about having to edit piece by piece, I feel the urge to delete the account, even if with a sad heart.

They simply chose not to give us the option to stay out of it.
