after they became boyfriends, richard fell asleep in henrys apartment and henry moved all the books away from him, covered him with a blanket and kissed his forehead, turned the lights off, then got a little lamp and translated greek five feet away until he also fell asleep in his chair. when richard woke up he was greeted to henry making him pancakes in the shape of hearts
richard likes to change henry's lockscreen every few weeks and he believes henry doesn’t even notice. one month it's botticelli, the next it's a duck, after that it’s richard making a stupid face, then it’s charles asleep in the giant snail. henry goes up to richard and says “darling, can you change it back to the duck for me?? it was rather reassuring.”
richard also was convinced at one point that henry never got jealous, until a guy flirted with richard at a cafe. then henry walked over and took richard's hand while giving the stranger a death glare, and he said “we’re leaving.”
richard bought henry a weighted dinosaur plush he saw helps with stress and said dinosaur has lived on henry's bed ever since, though nobody is allowed to mention it
everyone around them naturally assumes richard is the emotionally expressive one, and yeah they're right, but they’re not there to see when richard has nightmares, its like a boyfriend instinct in henry to sense them and wake up. he reaches for richard’s hand beneath the blanket and richard falls back asleep really easily after that, but henry stays up to make sure richard’s breathing evens out before allowing himself to fall back asleep
i kind of dont understand why people would want a movie adaptation of the secret history. like tsh without donna's writing style is incomplete. it works perfectly in the medium its in and i dont think it can really be translated into a different medium, and i dont really think it could improve anything about the story
