Oh, so I guess the key words there were  “other ship / girl”.  I guess this argument is only applicable when the story seems in favor of Cloti, and never the other way around! 

To make my point clear on why this is hilariously convenient logic gymnastics that’s been masterfully crafted so the delusional and obsessive Cali can guarantee that she never ever loses on social media (because that’s what matters when you’re middle aged, folks!), here’s the original dress scene. 

Notice how they seemingly changed EVERYTHING about this scenario in the Remake? Notice how Cloud in the OG had the exact opposite reaction to the new clip that all Cleriths keep posting in rebuttal like it’s the ultimate anti nuke? The glorified clip to end all clips! Everyone else is invalid because Cali decided that these were the rules-   Correction, that these are your rules. Cali doesn’t have to play by any rules!

So, we can easily just identify and categorize this behavior. Pretty clear when you see it all laid out like that, isn’t it?
