Welcome to the Cult Of The Daimons—a blog devoted to sharing the daimons of the theoi and destigmatising the meaning behind the word ‘daemon’.
I also run the TikTok page known as @templeof_thetheoi and the blog of the same name ( @templeof-thetheoi) , so if any of the stuff I post on here is credited to that TikTok account or blog, it’s still mine
This blog will be posted to daily, with daily posts about daimons and how to worship them. These posts will consist of;
- The daimon, their domain, and their parentage.
- Any relevant myths (if any)
- Offerings for them.
You may request specific daimons in the comments of this post if you want to see anyone specific.

What are daimons?
In Ancient Greek, daimon [δαίμων] translates to ‘spirit’, ‘divine power’, or ‘lesser god’. It was a term often used to describe beings or forces that existed between the mortal and divine realm. Unlike in newer religions, where daimon or demon had become a word for evil entities, daimons in Ancient Greece were often personifications of human concepts, such as emotions, the human condition, qualities, morality, voice, actions, and state of society.
Most of these divinities were pure personification with little or no mythology. Only a handful achieved full characterisation, including Eris (Strife) and Hypnos (Sleep). A few including Eros (Love), Nike (Victory) and Nemesis (Indignation) achieved cult status, with minor altars and precincts dedicated to them in historical times.

Whether you’re a practicing Hellenic polytheist, a mythology lover, or just curious about the spiritual middle ground between mortals and gods, I hope this blog helps you discover and connect with these powerful, often forgotten, forces.
Homer, Iliad 14. 352 ff : "So the father [Zeus] slept unshaken on the peak of Gargaron with his wife in his arms, when Hypnos and passion [of Hera] had stilled him; but gently Hypnos went on the run to the ships of the Akhaians (Achaeans) with a message to tell him who circles the earth and shakes it, Poseidon, and stood close to him and addressed him in winged words : ‘Poseidon, now with all your heart defend the Danaans and give them glory, though only for a little, while Zeus still sleeps; since I have mantled a soft slumber about him and Hera beguiled him into sleeping in love beside her.’ He spoke so, and went away among the famed races of men."
