and somewhere i think dragons rising falls short is balancing out screentime for the characters. i know that the cast has pretty much doubled in size, and that giving everyone equal time is difficult with an ensemble cast like this one. and it's hard for the characters to be as complex. they're all so one-dimensional now. idk where i was going with this. i just wish we saw more of cole

The disease that killed Lilly is genetically inherited, in an autosomal recessive pattern, meaning that you need two defective alleles for that gene to develop the disease. Same inheritance pattern as cystic fibrosis.

Cole is not affected by the disease, as he has a functioning copy of the gene (Lou's genes win), but he is a carrier, meaning that if he had children with another carrier, their children would have a 1 in 4 chance of having the disease.

He wanted to be a parent one day, but he was always hesitant because of this fact. Meeting Geo and basically adopting Spitz, Fritz, and Bonzle was the best thing that could have happened to him.
