Clementine HC's -> S1 - S4

reminder, these have no basis in canon, i simply like the character and have hc's for either my own writing, fun or comfort. minus the bisexual part, given clem is canonically bisexual and that makes me. so very happy.

Character Related

Clementine is autistic and sometimes struggles with tone, and taking things literally.

Clementine has a special interest in walkie-talkies and other devices, often dismantling them to see how they work - similar to her father whose an engineer.

Prior to being attacked by Sam the dog in season 2, Clementine has a phobia of dogs already, specifically big dogs. She did have a cat that she found in her yard one day and talked her parents into keeping him.

While not a special interest, Clementine enjoys cars and vehicles.

Clementines hat is a comfort item in the same vein a teddy bear might be for young children.

During season 1, Clementine had a small crush on Duck, during Season 2, she had a somewhat crush on Sarah but didn't know the word for it but also a deep friendship, Season 3-4 is when she's officially come to terms with her bisexuality (and polyamory because she has two hands she can have both Louis and Violet. Okay? Okay.)

Clementine mimics Lee alot when taking care of AJ.

Relationships - Familial / Friends

Clementine and Lee develop a deep father-daughter like bond with Lee making sure Clementine is safe long after his death - this is something she uses with AJ and mimics a lot of Lee's behaviors with those around her.

During Season 1, while not super close, Clementine developed a somewhat older sister figure in Lilly. This died along with Carley when Lilly killed her.

Prior to Marlon's demise and betrayal, Clementine enjoyed his company and considered him a friend.

As mentioned prior, Clementine was very close to Sarah during Season 2 (at least in my game, because she reminded me so much of my own sister) and the two act as a support system with Clementine trying to understand her anxiety and teaching her how to defend herself. The two made matching flower rings and Clementine keeps hers in a pocket despite it now becoming withered and dead.

Clementine has a few people that she considers actual family, this being; Lee, Christa, Omid, Kenny and AJ. While he closest friends would of been: Duck, Sarah, Luke, Jane, Marlon, Ruby and Javier (at least in my game)

Relationships - Romantic

Polycule situation between Louis, Clem and Violet, the three often act as a family with Clementine being in the middle - similar to Lee, her priority is AJ's safety and her partners respect that.

Clementine had small crushes on a few people, nothing ever serious for various reasons, but personally I feel like Clementine falls harder for people (Louis and Violet) and is very sentimental when it comes down to people shes in a relationship with.

Very protective of her partners - and just generally people she's close to. She's lost enough people.

Louis fell first, Violet fell harder than Clementine did and it took Violet a while to warm up to Clementine romantically due to what happened with Minnie.

Clementine always woke up early.

For a variety of reasons.

Sometimes, she wanted to get started.

There’s a lot to do with so many kids to handle.

But sometimes, it wasn’t because she couldn’t sleep.

Or get back to sleep.

Or stop the dreams.

The nightmares.

Those days were like Louis had a sixth sense.

And somehow, he always knew,

The instant he first greeted her.

“Morning, gorgeous.” Louis greeted.

Clem rolled her eyes and chuckled, 

Preoccupied with tying her boot on one of the outdoor benches.

“So uh,”

Louis leaned against he bench as he spoke,

Watching as his girl finished her knots.

“Why are you up so early?”

Clem tensed. “No reason.”

“Clem,” Louis’ voice was genuine -

The tone he used when he wanted to be taken seriously -

And her shoulders fell.

“I couldn’t sleep.”

Louis tsked, playfully wagging a finger.

“Go back inside.”

Clem chuckled. “What?”

Louis slowly removed the axe from her hands,

As she was getting ready to collect firewood for the day.

“Go back inside to sleep. I’ll take care of this.”

Clem’s eyes softened,

Arms falling to her sides.

“Louis….”

“You need rest to do good work.”

He dipped in to place a quick kiss on her forehead.

The two smiled, sharing a brief, warm moment,

Cheeks pink,

Before Louis shooed her away.

“Go. Sleep.”

As dorky as it was, Clem chuckled to herself and wandered back inside.

He was always passionate about taking care of her.

As hard as it was for her to open up to,

Clementine was learning to love it.

Louis had a habit of playing with Clem’s hair whenever he needed her attention.

“Hey, I need some help.” He began,

Slipping forwards,

Brushing her fingers around one of her pigtails.

Clem chuckled. “You know how I feel about my hair.”

“It’s special, I know,” Louis said with a smile.

Clem smiled to herself and continued her chores -

Preoccupied with dish duty.

“You should let me cut it sometime.”

Clementine froze.

She stopped doing the fishes and turned,

Stunned,

To face her partner.

“Really?”

He shrugged, almost meekly. “I know how much it means.”

His voice was low,

Almost cautious.

“I know you haven’t trimmed it for a while. I can help.”

There was a single beat of silence,

Clem’s jaw agape.

“You know, if you trust me to.” He finished.

He was so genuine and meek.

It was beyond sweet and endearing.

It made Clem’s heart swell.

“Of course I do.”

All Louis could do was smile.

Every time Louis had to cook dinner, he insisted on making Clementine’s favourite.

“No. Not rabbit stew again.” Owen insisted.

Louis scoffed. “Why not?”

Clem, within earshot, smiled,

The tips of her ears burning [pink,

Flattered at his insistence to treat her.

In comparison, Clem always tried to indulge Louis whenever she could.

Segway him in.

Lead into his joke.

“Please, no one has a better aim than me.”

Willy beamed with cockiness and pride.

Clem scoffed.

“I don’t know about that,”

She sighed, teasingly,

“I’ve heard Louis’ is a lot better…”

She dragged off,

Allowing Louis just enough time to load up food on his spoon,

Aim,

And launch it right onto Willy’s nose.

All the way from across the table.

The table erupted in laughter and under the table,

Louis gave her hand a thankful squeeze.

The two weren’t attached at the hip,

But they were whenever they had free time.

During the day, it would be hard to tell they were a couple.

They operated as though they were co-workers,

Working for the greater good.

The instant they were off the clock, that all changed.

Sure, every day was life or death.

But for a few hours every now and then,

It was just the two of them.

Louis and marlon had the "we're bestfriends but would we hook up?" conversations

Clementine showed AJ what stickers were and the both of them decorated their room, other members rooms/weapons. Like Louis's "chair-les" or violets butcher knife.

Ruby was the first to volunteer on fixing up the greenhouse. Now grows herbs and vegetables there.

They still celebrate Christmas, easter, helloween and such things like that

Clementine secretly searches and hopes on finding a walkie talkie.

The group collectively decided to create their own calendar from the moment they saw snow. Started at December. So now sometimes in their spring there are blizzards (they know the dates are wrong but they don't care and don't know how to fix it)

Willy has a weird obbsesion of just watching/obbserving people as they do their things.

Tenn makes his own oc's. Writing backstories, drawing them. Sometimes even makes dolls so him, Minnie, Sophie or whoever participates could act out a puppet show.

Ruby is the mom of the group.

Whenever Louis teases Omar a bit too much, he purposely fucks up Louis's dish with too much salt or no spices at all.

If AJ was born during our timeline he would have been an ipad kid (I'm not sorry)

Violet as a child always wanted legos.

While scavenging the teens found booze and stocked up wine. So they then decided to celebrate everyone's birthdays at once. Many threw up.

Brody had crippling anxiety whilst growing up. And was sent to the school because her parents were unable to understand what's "wrong" with her

The group made their own stereotypical american prom and the couples had their first slow dance. Such as Clementine with Louis/violet and assim with ruby.

On Tenns and Minervas funurel Violet and Louis, together as a duet, performed "don't be afraid".

Assim writes romantic letters to Ruby, leaving them at her door. She keeps all of them, hanging most on her wall.

Louis calls brody and ruby ginger non stop. He was beat up for it.

I have this hc that the Ericson's kids, despite the problematic kids allegations, are a bunch of nerds/geeks

Like im sure Louis is a huge fan of musicals and theater, I don't know much about it, but he would. Minerva would also be a fan, not as huge as Louis, but she would still listen to him talk about this new musical based on The Wizard of Oz what they never had the chance to see

And honestly, I can imagine Marlon being interested too, but in secret

Mitch and Ruby are good at chemistry and biology, and for the most part they were self-taught in those areas. Ok, Mitch used that to blow things up, but he learned it on his own, give the boy some credit

Omar too, he and Ruby would be the ones to take care of the greenhouse. In my mind, it makes perfect sense that Omar went to Ericson because he dealt with poisonous things, like Maomao (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto), so he has knowledge about that niche of plants, mushrooms, and animals; and in the post-apocalypse he used that knowledge to separate what was edible from what wasn't

Tenn and Sophie would be fanartists. Fandom? I don't know, but they would.

Aasim were very interested in history and old literature books. Plus, he's a ficwriter and would've loved ao3

Violet liked cartoons, her lesbian awakening was She-Ra.

Ruby liked cartoons too, but she was a My Little Pony girl

Brody had an interest in films, her favorites being Disney movies, and she memorize all the lines, because she watched the same movies all the time

They would have loved the 2000s Barbie movies

currently thinking about the fact that louis is quite literally a musical prodigy. he literally taught himself how to play and even makes his own songs??? like who ever carved into that piano that he “sucked” is CLEARLY deaf or an outright hater to say that he’s bad. like the boy is talented and it’s not talked about enough!! like why is he treated like some kind of annoyance or that he’s just making noise??? like the piano scene with clem when he said many would say you aren’t about to hear music now. WHO TOLD HIM THAT??? i feel like his intelligence and talent just isn’t talked about enough cause he literally built these elaborate traps in the forest(lifting fucking boulders and trees), taught himself how to play the piano, and makes his own songs???? i think people who hate on him are just mad they aren’t as smart as him.

my favorite thing about Clouis is that Clementine can kick, flip, and rip Louis in half and he’d allow her to do it too. One because he can’t fight her back and two because she scares him a little but he likes it that way

clem's parents are infamously mentioned less often than lee, a man she only knew for three months. besides fanservice, i think there's an in character reason for why clem rarely mentions them. below the cut is a (by no means definitive) compilation of the few times clem mentions them, along with some of my own speculation on her pre-apocalypse upbringing.

this is from a promo video that takes place right before s1. clem asks sandra to take video of a racoon in her treehouse before she gets a call from her parents. (watch here)

she has a clear favorite! look how excited she gets once ed gets on the phone, when she's otherwise uninterested in what diana has to say until she says that they'll be coming back.

don't get me wrong, she clearly misses them both, but she prefers her dad for whatever reason.

she really is her father's daughter, isn't she? what i find so interesting about ed is that he might not be her biological father. i'm not sure how canon this reddit AMA with the developers is, but i think it makes a lot of sense if they aren't related. with ed, she's already used to recognizing that family goes beyond blood relation. i think that blurs the line between lee and her dad as the father figures in her life. when she first meets lee, she confuses him for her father. other characters also confuse him for her father too. and apparently, there were more lines about ed and lee that were cut from the game. which makes me wonder: exactly how murky is the line between lee and her dad?

for her mom, there's seems to be some tension between them... if lee is supposed to parallel her father, i wonder if christa could've paralleled her mom. the vibe i get from clem's mom is that she's the more particular/demanding one out of her parents, like how christa is stricter and colder than lee was. she doesn't mention diana much, just like how she rarely mentions christa.

so why does clem not talk about her parents very often? first of all, they weren't around very often. diana was a doctor and ed was an engineer, with high paying, busy jobs that could land them a nice upper middle class life in the suburbs and regular vacations. but apparently, their frequent vacations rarely included clem, and they were gone so regularly that clem started using sandra for a proxy for the family she rarely saw. (as an only child myself, clem is Very Obviously an only child, and a very lonely one at that.) clem's used to them being gone and maybe that's why she's so adamant that they will come back. no matter how long they've been gone in the past, they always come back, right? so what's one more day or three more months of waiting for them? and what's the danger in trusting a stranger to help find them for you when the other stranger she's been with for all this time is unable to tell her the truth about what happened to them?

second of all, clem is very good at hiding things. she's not talkative in the first place, so to her, it seems easy to just not tell people things at all. like her not telling lee about her birthday or the stranger, and especially in s2 and 3 when she's cold and untrusting of the people around her. she's used to hiding, whether it's from walkers or from untrustworthy survivors, what's one more thing to hide? her parents remind her of her vulnerability in the pre/early apocalypse that she'd rather move past.

but most importantly, twdg is about choice. and lee is the only person who always chose to be with clem. her own parents didn't choose to be with her—they chose to go on vacation by themselves instead! (what parents do that? especially since clem doesn't have school or anything because twdg s1 starts in july.) lee always chose clem. even when she screwed up and when the 'practical' thing to do was to leave her behind, he chose her. christa and other survivors took her in, but she was more of an inconvenience to them than someone they actually chose and wanted. lee wanted to take care of clem. he never saw her as the burden other survivors and she herself did. when the post-apocalyptic world emphasize 'survival of the fittest', the unconditional support of lee is a model for clem's own parenting of aj.

that's just my opinion though... i hope this was helpful for anyone trying to look for stuff on clem's home life. i think lee's family is also super interesting so i might make another post on them... the scene where lee and clem talk in the back office of the pharmacy is one of my favorites.

Fleek/Floyd x Creek (+Creek Redemption) (+Broppy stuff too)

I think this might be the first, post here that’s unrelated to UglyDolls.

I recently got into the Trolls movies. (It’s lowkey kinda scary how hyperfixation gets stronger when you’re older…)

But anyway, I also got into the rarepair Fleek/Floyd x Creek —(Also, no, I don’t consider it a crackship because to me, crackships are more on crossovers pairings that are universally impossible to happen; depending on the writing and timeline Floyd and Creek could’ve met or could meet.)

Anyway, after getting into their ship, like any normal person, I started looking up content of them.

Maybe I’m just lazy to dig further… but the relationship dynamic they’re normally portrayed with isn’t really what I’m looking for…

Don’t take it the wrong way though. I understand some fans who love their toxic yaoi. And ngl I did enjoy reading them. But I need something to scratch that itch: the dynamic I was expecting.

So I wanna share here how I really envision the relationship, in a canon-compliant universe;

This takes place:

• after all three movies

• all the characters have their current development

• completely unrelated to the TV series, that in my opinion was nice to watch but totally butchered Poppy and Branch in those Creek episodes

The Conept I imagined:

• Creek comes crawling back to the village and apologizes and begs everyone to forgive him. But surprisingly Poppy sternly tells him he has to work on being trusted before he can completely live peacefully (and by that she just means, the other trolls giving him the stink eye).

• Floyd by some plot device chooses to be the one to keep him in check after hearing about why Creek is Pop Village’s “public enemy”.

• He tries to reach out because he knows how it felt to be at the mercy of a merciless situation. And knows not everyone has the same heart as him. So he understands what fear can do to a less resilient troll… He knows that while he was willing to slowly die alone as long as his brothers were safe, other trolls don’t have the same strength.

As for their their relationship dynamic, I think it would be like “Agressor x Keeper”. (Floyd being the keeper of course)

As for Branch in the whole “Creek returns” situation: I prefer that he’s a little passive aggressive instead, because I’m also a tiny bit tired of him being portrayed as the one who calls out Creek. This guys has enough trauma as it is, and I think it’d be cooler if Creek was the last of his problems.

In addition… I think it’d be funnier if Poppy was the one who was more pissed at Creek.

Some fics and the unrelated TV series make her too forgiving. I get that she’s optimistic, but it feels really milked out considering she had a switch up to choke Creek herself in the first movie. Meaning, she’s not against getting angry and violent. So I really don’t think she should be too forgiving. After all, she and Creek were close before he became an enemy.

She’s who I picture to be the most hurt by him, and the one who hurt her the most (You don’t have to agree with me with these takes I have though):

• Queen Barb is probably makes some sort of sense for her to forgive or begin to forgive, since they weren’t close enough for Poppy to stay too aggressive towards she just wanted to save the world after realizing her ancestors caused the first problem. (This doesn’t mean I’m happy with the way Barb was easily forgiven, though. I just accepted that there was very little to flesh out since the focus was their cultures uniting).

• The Bergens had made peace and already timeskipped to them being friends with the trolls.

• Creek was her closest friend (and probably semi-canonically her crush as well?) before he betrayed them.

—So I think it’s funnier but also makes more sense that she’s the one who’s more aggressively petty towards Creek, out of all the antagonists they faced.

She constantly went up against enemies, but Creek was her first and last betrayal. (Because… you know, betrayal comes from friendship…?)

Imagine this:

She notices Branch is surprisingly passive with Creek. And then she asks why, and Branch is like…

Branch: “Poppy, I found happiness little by little, I saved people by your side, and you became my girlfriend after stopping a whole music apocalypse… And I also got reunited with my brothers 20 years later… and while it’s hard to just forgive and forget what they left me to go through alone, I really want to be a family with them again….

Honestly, Creek is at the bottomest of bottoms on my list of things to prioritize —The Bergens are our friends now, none of the other Troll countries are fighting over music anymore, the most recent threat we had were two teenagers who are already locked up in jail… I don’t see Creek selling us out to any big bads, any time soon. Plus, Floyd is sensible and firm. He can handle him. God knows why… but he wants to.”

—And while that kinda makes Poppy happy that her boyfriend isn’t so miserable or antagonistic anymore, that makes HER worried; because usually when BRANCH of all trolls drops his guard or she makes him drop his guard for her… something bad happens.

Danger always happens the second Branch isn’t on guard… It was her cute little logic. When Poppy sees her usually over-prepared boyfriend isn’t over-preparing… then she needs to do it for him!

Branch: “Poppy, you’re doing a thing.”

Poppy: “What thing?”

Branch: “Something like… you being paranoid, because I’m not paranoid.”

So she becomes the protective-aggressive one for Branch towards Creek. (Try imagining Katara’s refusal to trust Zuko, even after Aang accepted him into the team. That’s sort of what it’s like.)

Lol… I also imagine Creek would get sick of Poppy’s aggression and they’d randomly try to tackle each other to the ground or throttle each other with their hair. Or having a petty slap fight like a pair of seals, because while Creek is frustrated, he honestly can’t take Poppy’s ‘aggressive’ side seriously. It’s like watching a talking cupcake act like a lion.

Floyd and Branch would be holding them back.

Anyway, I’m on team “Creek deserves to be redeemed” too. Out of all the worse characters, he definitely should. But I also think he doesn’t deserve to be babied for the decision he made. (Which is exactly what the non-canon series kinda did…)

It’s true plenty of us would have done the same thing Creek did if the fear was too hard to overcome… But we should also expect that if we DID do that, and the people we attempted to sacrifice survived, they’re not gonna welcome you back with open arms and let go of what you did just because you were scared.

In my opinion, the series really missed the opportunity to make him earn genuine forgiveness. He can be a victim, but shouldn’t be martyrized.

Instead of Branch getting it, Creek should’ve been the aggressive one that needed to be humbled instead; a couple of trolls give him the side eye or judgey stare, he loses his “calm yoga dude” attitude and blows up more often: “I’m literally doing nothing! Why can’t you all mind your business already so I can live my life the way I used to?!”

—And learns that the more he responds to judgemental stares with outbursts, the more often his redemption points and proof of wanting to return to his normal day of living, go right back down to zero.
