Hello, dears. If you are reading this, you have managed to find your way to the very back of the Archanade newsletter where I have been encouraged to answer ‘questions to the editor,’ so to speak. Of course, I doubt anyone actually reads this far in the newsletter, including my employers, so do not hesitate to ask whatever you like! Or share with me a bit of gossip from around town ;).

If someone, not me, of course, happened to find... A sword. And the sword wouldn't leave my- their side. Like, every time you tried to put it down, it just kind of... Zipped back to your side, either in your hand or in your belt. What would one... Do about that?

This sounds like a case of spontaneous attunement. Many weapons are bound to their wielders so they can return after being thrown. While it is a strange property for a sword to have, the intention behind this enchantment is probably practical.

Attempt to meditate next time you (or whomever has the problem) have time to rest and imagine severing your soul from the sword. This is usually enough to break attunement. If this does not work, or if this angers some sort of spirit attached to the sword and it begins to hunt you, see a curse breaker as soon as possible.

Hello, I'm not sure if I actually need help, but my husband won't leave me alone over it. A friend of mine gave me a necklace that they found being sold by some old woman in the marketplace, a gorgeous thing with blue jewels. Since I put it on, I've been unable to take it off, it's as though it's fused to my skin. Personally, I haven't noticed any weird changes, everything in my life still seems to be going normally, so I don't believe the necklace is dangerous, but my husband is scared shitless of it. He refuses to sleep in the same bed as 'that thing', and can barely look me in the eyes. I love my husband, but I really do think he's just overreacting. Do you know of any weird blue jewel necklaces in lore or mythology? Like, is it possible it's actually cursed or is my husband just paranoid?

Oh, friend. If the question is whether there’s a chance the necklace is cursed, then absolutely. But if it is causing no problems, there is no need to rush yourself to find a way to remove it. I would, however, love to see you in and examine the curious little thing.

As for your husband, you would think he would be able to relate to the necklace. After all, both he and it chose you, is it not so? If he is experiencing any specific symptoms that could be caused by a second-party curse, or if you find other people are also struck by fear when seeing the necklace, that is something to watch out for and to see a curse breaker about.

Blue jewels are most commonly symbols of protection, calm, and wise choices. Watch for any new attunement to types of energy or magic. And consider if there is anything this necklace may be trying to protect you from.

Hi, I really dont know where to turn with this and this seems as good as place as any because I really dont want the guards to be involved if im just being an idiot.

I found this automated cooking appliance that helps heat frozen food quicker than an average oven, and thought hell yeah that's cool so bought it. But, as im using it, its making me want to kill someone. It manages to turn itself off at intervals that provokes me EXTREMELY. And yet I still try to use it.

Is this an issue for my therapist or is this a cursed item to bring to the guards. How am I supposed to tell. I just want to be able to cook without having to keep all the knives in the house out of my line of sight in the meantime.

In an abundance of caution, I would recommend taking the appliance to the arcane marshals. If you continue to feel homicidal tendencies after giving up the artifact, see a doctor or healer with experience in magical curses. They may then reccomend means of psychological healing if it is not a result of a curse.

I know with the current economy and political circumstance, many students for whom the Pentevral would have been a rare chance at higher education and social mobility may be receiving a lot of pressure to withdrawal.

Now, and I say this publicly as a member of the Pentevral, fuck that. As the bursar, I may be able to move certain things around and make certain unpaid balances disappear. If that is not enough to help you keep going, I completely understand, but reaching out is still in your best interest. There may be used textbooks I am able to provide you if you wish to continue learning on your own, and I always have my feelers out for Warlock patrons (happy Warlocks, hmu if you would recommend your current employer).

Additionally, in the interest of Murray-can-only-skim-so-much and Murray-doesn't-want-to-loose-her-job, if any wealthy benefactors happen to come across this post, well...you know where to find me. And to the students who aren't struggling to pay for courses; recognize your privilege, and help your fellow wizards out. Stay in school, kids. We can do this.
